Following the company’s announcement of a new Nintendo 3DS, aptly named New Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo also announced that Xenoblade Chronicles will be released on the 3DS. But unfortunately the game will not work on old 3DS handhelds as it will require the New Nintendo 3DS’ stronger processor to run.

Iwata went on to say that there are also a number of other titles currently being developed for the New Nintendo 3DS. This means that some new Nintendo 3DS games will not work on your 3DS/3DSXL/2DS but only the New 3DS, meaning new New Nintendo 3DS exclusive games may be announced soon.

Today during their latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed that they are planning on releasing another new 3DS version and they have decided to call this one, and follow me on this, New Nintendo 3DS. The new iteration will feature bigger screens, colored face buttons, a stick that is more or less a tiny nub that will work similar to the C-stick on the GameCube, a better browser, extra shoulder buttons, and NFC to work with Nintendo’s Amiibos.

The CPU will also be getting a power up while downloading software will be sped up. It is also worth noting that the New Nintendo 3DS will make use of Micro-SD cards.

Nintendo went on to say that the handheld will not be released internationally in 2014 and that DS games will still work on the New Nintendo 3DS.

It has been many months since we heard any news about Capcom’s Deep Down. As such many people were growing concerned about the fate of this free-to-play online only RPG since the beta was originally set to launch in Japan earlier this year.

Well that all changed thanks to a new video released today by Capcom showcasing two of the teams working on the game as well as showing four different players fighting against some of the enemies in the game. You can check out the gameplay video below and be sure to keep an eye out for Deep Down’s beta to launch sometime in 2015, at least in Japan.

While rumored for many months thanks to the infamous Gematsu leak and then semi-confirmed with some leaked video footage, Nintendo has decided to officially unveil Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles as the latest addition to the Super Smash Bros. roster. Featuring his special sword the Monado heavily in his moveset, Shulk will be able to engage in five different modes to enhance/limit his abilities by using his neutral special attack. These modes are:

  • Jump – higher jumps, lower defense.
  • Speed – faster movement, weaker attacks.
  • Shield – higher defense, slower movement.
  • Buster – stronger attacks, weaker launch ability.
  • Smash – Stronger launch ability, weaker attacks, lower defense against launching.

In keeping up with the recent alternate costume trend, Shulk can also be pictured in his swimming trunks attire in the latest batch of screenshots. A new stage in Guar Plains from Xenoblade Chronicles was also revealed in the trailer. The stage is very large and seems to move vertically, but for those disappointed by the news remember that each stage is receiving a Final Destination version if you’re not a fan of all the movement and gimmicks.

At the end of the trailer, Metal Face from Xenoblade makes a menacing appearance but it is not known how he will be incorporated into the game yet. Check out the reveal trailer and gallery below to see the newest newcomer in action. The 3DS version is now two weeks from release in Japan so keep checking back with Capsule Computers for a full roster list as soon as it becomes available.

Wastelander Panda Series Coming Exclusively to ABC iview

WASTELANDER-PANDA-EXILE-Screenshot-01

I’m not sure whose idea it was to put a talking panda into a wasteland resembling like something from a video game, but I’d be happy to buy them a drink. The post-apocalyptic sci-fi western is hitting our very own ABC iview program on Saturday, September 20 and will make its international debut at Fantastic Fesy, Austin TX, September 18-25.

Wastelander Panda: Exile is a co-production between Madman and Epic Films centered around the humanoid panda Isaac, who is banished to the Wasteland after the violent death of a young girl, and sets out to find a “replacement” to reinstate his family into the Tribe of Legion. Check out the trailer further below to make visual sense of this madness.

“To be commissioned by ABC iview as a Web/TV Series and then to be selected for a film festival is very rewarding for all concerned”, producer, Nick Batzias said. Additionally, those interested can catch a sneak peek of the new show at Oz Comic-Con in Sydney, September 13-14. A graphic novel from Gestalt Publishing is also on the cards in the near future.

Sin-City-A-Dame-to-Kill-For-Still-01

To celebrate the upcoming theatrical release of a sequel that has been hotly anticipated for almost a decade, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Australian distributor Icon Films have provided us with 3 double passes to see the Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez cinematic experience in either 2D or 3D once it releases nationwide on September 18. (Conditions are printed on the back of the passes)

Early reviews have lauded the stunning 3D which, as you can imagine, accentuates the trademark visual flair of the series extremely well.

Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning Sin City graphic novels back to the screen in  Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Eva Green stars as Ava, a temptress who enlists Dwight McCarthy (Brolin) in a bid to escape her ex-husband. Joseph Gordon Levitt plays Johnny, a mysterious gambler set on taking down his sworn enemy in a high stakes game of life and death. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more notorious inhabitants. Newcomers Juno Temple and Jeremy Piven join the all-star cast including Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, and Jaime King who will be making their return to  Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Pokken Tournament New Details and Mock Roster

pokken-tournament-screenshot-01

With the recent announcement of the Tekken cross Pokemon collaboration title Pokken Tournament in the works by Bandai Namco, fans were left wondering which Pokemon would be included in the final roster. Since the announcement provided very little details, Game Director Katsuhiro Harada has taken to Twitter to reveal some more information about the game. A summary of these tweets is summed up below:

  • The arcade version might come to North America.
  • The roster will not be limited to just fighting type Pokemon.
  • Likewise, a Pokemon not having two legs will also not disqualify it from the roster.
  • Harada refused to comment on if a Pokemon’s typing will play a role in battle.
  • He also refused comment if their will be a team based aspect or simple 1 vs 1 matches.
  • The roster will not include any guest appearances from the Tekken Cast.
  • The game will not feature a high/mid/low guard system like Tekken and Soul Calibur. A new mechanic will replace this feature. We are guessing it will be more simple based on the general audience of the franchise.

pokken-tournament-screenshot-01

Taking some of that information into account, we’ve compiled a list of what we think could be a likely roster for the eventual home release on the Wii U. Tekken 6 had a total of 43 characters in its final edition on home consoles, so we are going to limit this roster to 40 spots to give some leeway. Keep in mind this is simply a predicted roster and in no way indicative of the final character list that will be in the game when it releases in 2015. We based the list on diversity, popularity and how well they would fit into a Tekken game as well as Pokemon we just want to see in as playable.

  • 1. Lucario (Confirmed)
  • 2. Machamp (Confirmed)
  • 3. Blaziken (Very likely as was featured in the first image seen of the game back in June)
  • 4. Charizard

Hunter x Hunter manga hiatus extended an extra week

hunter-x-hunter-hiatus-extension-scan-01

Recently the Hunter x Hunter manga has been suffering from quite a few delays. After taking a two year hiatus, Yoshihiro Togashi had returned to produce nine chapters of the manga and has since been on another hiatus due to back pain.

Initially the hiatus was only meant to last for two weeks but on the week he was meant to return, another two week hiatus was announced. This time in Jump’s 40th issue it was revealed that Hunter x Hunter would not be returning next week as expected and instead will be delayed one more week as Togashi is still in pain. This means that the manga will likely return in the 42nd issue in two weeks, unless another delay is revealed before then. It is also worth noting that these numerous hiatuses come on the heels of the announcement that the anime series would be ending on episode 148.
