Disney Infinity 2.0: Falcon Review

Disney Infinity 2.0: Falcon
Developer: Disney
Publisher: Disney
Platform: Xbox One (Reviewed), PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, iPad (Reviewed)
Release Date: Out Now
Price: AU$17.95 – Available here US$14.99 – Available Here

The Disney Infinity 2.0 Starter Set came with the Avengers Play Set and three of earth’s mightiest heroes, now the game has come full circle with the release of Loki and Falcon, the final two pieces to the Avengers puzzle. They say that sometimes the best is left to last and these two final characters definitely hold true – they each bring with them new abilities, new animations and some of the most uniquely detailed figures of the set.

Falcon is a lesser-known superhero in from the Marvel Universe, introduced to many fans though either Captain America: The Winter Soldier or in the animated Avengers Assembled. His appearance in Disney Infinity is inspired almost verbatim from the latter, with his red/white/gold outfit and wings of a… falcon (whodathunk it?).

disney-infinity-2.0-loki-falcon-screenshot-03

As you would expect from Falcon, his skills lie firmly in the air. his “Into the Clouds” ability can be leveled up to Lv2, making him by far the fastest flier in the entire Disney Infinity line-up, even able to out-speed just about any flying vehicle. This is a double-edged sword as being able to zip about from place to place is incredibly advantagous, but flight controls can be a bit tricky at the best of times, and when you are going at supersonic (slight exaggeration) speeds, it becomes even more difficult.

As for physical attacks, Wilson can hold his own. While no powerhouse like his bff Captain America, he can go toe to toe with other regular humans like Black Widow or Nick Fury. As with most characters, Falcon also has a ranged attack where he shoots off hard-light “Feathers” at his enemies. The feathers are relatively powerful on their own but once leveled up they cause little explosions and can be charged up and fired in rapid succession to become devastating. His special move makes use of these hard-light feathers too, shooting them around him in order to damage all nearby foes.

disney-infinity-2.0-loki-falcon-screenshot-05

Falcon has some unique character traits that help separate him from the rest of the DI crew, the first of which is the fact that when he is on the ground his wings aren’t present. They unfurl from his backpack once you leap into the air and begin flying. It isn’t the most impressive of programming to make happen, but it still looks absolutely awesome none the less, and that’s really the point of Disney Infinity isn’t it?

When it comes to his figure, there is only so much that Wilson can do – he wears a tight red/white spandex outfit with a pair of wings, so it is difficult to make him stand out. However, Disney and Avalanche went above and beyond and made his wings out of translucent-red plastic to really have them stand out. Aside from the Infinity Crystal range of figures from the first game, no other character has a similar property on their figure.

disney-infinity-2.0-falcon-screenshot-01

It seems fitting that Disney Infinity 2.0 would wrap up with two final additions to the Avengers Play Set, and both Falcon and Loki are incredible figures that add a lot to not only the Play Set, but the Toy Box too. Also, now that all of the figures are released, eager collectors are able to unlock a special Star Wars themed item from the Hall of Super Heroes (but I wont tell you what it is 😉 you’ll have to go find out on your own).

Disney Infinity 2.0: Loki Review

disney-infinity-2.0-loki-figure-01

Disney Infinity 2.0: Loki
Developer: Disney
Publisher: Disney
Platform: Xbox One (Reviewed), PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, iPad (Reviewed)
Release Date: 9th March, 2015
Price: AU$17.95 – Available here US$14.99 – Available Here

The Disney Infinity 2.0 Starter Set came with the Avengers Play Set and three of earth’s mightiest heroes, now the game has come full circle with the release of Loki and Falcon, the final two pieces to the Avengers puzzle. They say that sometimes the best is left to last and these two final characters definitely hold true – they each bring with them new abilities, new animations and some of the most uniquely detailed figures of the set.

Loki is probably one of the most highly anticipated characters in the entire game. The Disney Infinity version of Loki is inspired quite heavily by his film counterpart. The character looks like somebody paused a scene of The Avengers, traced around Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and then added some of that Disney Infinity flair. The God of Mischief comes equipped with his Asgardian battle armor, his mighty scepter and of course the Tesseract Infinity Stone.

disney-infinity-2.0-loki-falcon-screenshot-02

Loki plays quite differently to just about every other character in the Infinity line-up-, relying on cunning and tactics instead of brute strength. His special ability allows him to turn invisible AND create a clone doppelganger. You know the scene in Avengers where Thor tries to tackle Loki, only to discover it is a projection? Well now you get to relive that same moment with your friends in the Toy Box. As you level up his skills, Loki’s projections become capable of attacking opposing enemies and when they are finished, will explode in a spectacular, brightly coloured fashion.

Loki has the ability to fight hand to hand, but as you would expect, is more adept at sending blasts of energy out of his Scepter – the one gifted to him by Thanos himself. Like all other projectile wielding characters, you can charge up Loki’s scepter to unleash a blast of energy that can decimate even the strongest of Toy Box enemies.

disney-infinity-2.0-loki-falcon-screenshot-01

Loki can also fly… sort of. While many characters in Disney Infinity 2.0 have the ability to duck and weave through buildings at super fast speeds (like Falcon), Loki can instead use the power of the Tesseract to float in mid-air. While it isn’t the most useful of abilities, and seems like a large step-down from the other flying characters, the float ability just fits Loki’s arrogant personality perfectly – it isn’t hard to imagine him floating among a group of people, having them cower in fear at his fear.

The Loki figure is quite nice, and is intricately detailed due to his Asgardian Armor. The God of Mischief is painted in a green/gold/black colour scheme that really captures the look and feel of the character perfectly. He is hunched over in a pose that makes it look like he is ready to pounce, his cape billowing behind him and his scepter is gripped tightly in his hand. While the figure looks great, I am a little worried that all of the thin, plastic pieces like the scepter, the horns on his helmet and his care will be fragile and risk breaking if played with too roughly.

disney-infinity-2.0-loki-falcon-screenshot-06

It seems fitting that Disney Infinity 2.0 would wrap up with two final additions to the Avengers Play Set, and both Falcon and Loki are incredible figures that add a lot to not only the Play Set, but the Toy Box too. Also, now that all of the figures are released, eager collectors are able to unlock a special Star Wars themed item from the Hall of Super Heroes (but I wont tell you what it is ;) you’ll have to go find out on your own).

Dragon Ball Xenoverse DLC Pack 3 Revealed

Frieza-new-form-revival-of-f-02

Some of the contents of the third and most likely final DLC pack for Dragon Ball Xenoverse have been leaked in Japan. The pack will be launching in Japan at the end of April and as we predicted, is centered around the new Dragon Ball Z movie Resurrection ‘F’. The packs big draw is the newly revealed Golden Frieza becoming a playable character. In English speaking countries it is also known we are getting Jaco the Galactic Patrolman as a playable character as well. The full scan is available below.

Alongside the playable characters, players will also be receiving:

  • 2 new masters. Jaco and a still unannounced mentor.
  • 5 new paralell quests.
  • 13 new super and ultimate attacks, four of which will belong to Jaco.
  • 1 new full costume for our created character. (Gohan’s green tracksuit from Revival of F). English speaking countries will also receive the Master Roshi outfit.
  • 2 new accessories (One being Tagoma’s Scouter).
  • 3 new Z-Souls.

Hopefully we will also be getting a few more things as the pack seems a little lacking in content especially compared to pack 2 which gave us more of everything plus additional story missions. I’m personally hoping each character gets their new movie outfit and they also become available for our created character. The official details of pack 2 were recently announced but no release date has been given yet. We will bring more information on this DLC pack and it’s international release date as it comes. Xenoverse is out now on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Steam for PC.

A more in-depth story description has been provided by Viz below:

In Gyo, the floating smell of death hangs over an island. What is it? A strange, legged fish appears on the scene… So begins Tadashi and Kaori’s spiral into the horror and stench of the sea. Battle-Arena-Melbourne-7-Banner-01

Battle Arena Melbourne 7 (BAM7) commences May 22-24, and it will be a doozy, for the first large scale Mortal Kombat X tournament will be held at the event. WB Games Australia has worked with CouchWarriors to paint the walls blood red (figuratively) with MKX being a major element of the festivities.

Firstly, there’s the Mortal Kombat X Pit, which is the themed tournament play area, bringing the atmosphere of Outworld to Melbourne. Of course, this space will be rated R18+. Secondly, there will be a major prize pool with a $1000 pot bonus for the very best, top 8 players of the tourney. This is in addition to the regular cash prizes and product giveaways, which include all sorts of Mortal Kombat merch. Finally, and certainly not least, back-to-back EVO champion Carl ‘Perfect Legend’ White will be present, allowing attendants to “test their skill” against the Mortal Kombat 9 king. The announcement trailer for his participation can be viewed below.
