The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors 3DS Version on the Way

Zelda-hyrule-warriors-3ds-promo-01

A leaked trailer most likely destined for E3 has shown that the popular Wii U title The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors will be making it’s way to the Nintendo 3DS, not without some great new gameplay additions and even new characters. While the graphics have taken a slight hit as expected, the game still looks really good, and portable Hyrule Warriors can only be a good thing.

The two new playable characters are Tetra and The King of Red Lions, both from the Wind Waker. Tetra seems to carry a pistol while the The King of Red Lions can transform into boat form to attack. It appears that linking the Wii U version with the 3DS version will unlock those characters for the Wii U version as well. In another nice addition, it seems you can now simply press the characters portrait on the touch screen to become that character on the battlefield, allowing you to switch at will.

Rumours have been flying around that female Link will also make an appearance in the new game, as a crossbow has been spotted that looks similar to the one used by the female Link look-a-like from the Hyrule Warriors art book. Wouldn’t that be interesting especially about all the female Link rumours that occurred after last years E3 showing of the upcoming open world Legend of Zelda title. Expect to hear more about both Zelda games at E3 which is taking place next week.

Life is Strange E3 Trailer Released

life-is-strange-promo-art-001

Life is Strange has become one of the biggest surprise hits of 2015 thanks to it’s great story and time bending mechanics, and most likely in part to the epic ending in Episode 3, Life is Strange was the second biggest trending game on YouTube throughout the month of May.

Now to celebrate, the small Parisian studio Dontnod have released an E3 trailer that doesn’t actually show anything new at all but covers some of the events that have happened over the first three episodes. The trailer is spoiler free so don’t worry if your an episode behind or haven’t started to play this episodic adventure yet. If you want to hear our take on the game so far, you can check out reviews for Episode 1, Episode 2 and Episode 3 by following the links. Life is Strange is available on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Metal Gear Solid V Playstation 4 Bundle Headed to Europe and Australia

With E3 right around the corner, more and more early news that doesn’t hold as much weight as other announcements are starting to pop out. Today, Konami have revealed a new Playstation 4 bundle for Metal Gear Solid V, that will feature a sleek, red coloring.

The entire console is inspired by the same “bionic arm” that Snake has, with a controller that is a metallic grey. It looks rather awesome, and you can find it on launch day for the standard retail price of the Playstation 4, with the 500GB hard drive inside. Keep in mind that at the moment this Metal Gear console has only been announced for Australia and Europe, but I look for Konami to be announcing it for the states sometime next week.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Announced for Nintendo 3DS

sonic-boom-fire-ice-promo

Yes you are reading correctly, Sonic Boom has a sequel. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will introduce more speed, adventure, exploration and some all new fire and ice gameplay mechanics to help freshen up the action. The game will feature five playable characters in Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Sticks. This is the first time Amy will be playable in the 3DS iteration of a Sonic Boom game, being exclusive to Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for the Wii U when the franchise first launched.

Developed by Sanzaru Games Inc. (known for making Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and some PlayStation ports), Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a single player game with collaborative gameplay components that shares key characters, events, and lore of the Sonic Boom universe, which includes a mildly entertaining kid focused cartoon. Players will see Sonic and his friends in familiar settings as they embark on a brand new adventure to battle Dr. Eggman as well as an all-new super villain, D-Fekt. The team’s adventures will bring them to locations both familiar and new as they explore, race and protect their world.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will use fire and ice elements throughout the game to enable new abilities to play out in special character moves and interactions with environments. The game will allow more freedom for players to choose between exploration and speed. Long stages were a big complaint in the first title and each stage will be at least 40% smaller in the new game with a more linear path in the center of the stage and a greater focus for exploration on the outer paths.

A supplemental game mode called Bot Racing is also being included and is said to be tied to the single player story and involve multiplayer gameplay. The new Bot Racing feature is an extension of Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice that is purely about racing and speed, where a user will unlock character themed Bots to challenge friends on fast courses or tracks.

While many people were shocked to hear that Sonic Boom was coming back as a game at all, Sega seems to have at least smartened up somewhat, choosing to skip the Wii U after the horrible mess that was Rise of Lyric, often being placed in the realm of Sonic 06′ level badness. The 3DS counterpart Sonic Boom game Shattered Crystal while nothing special, was at least a fun, yet basic platformer and I’m glad to see it’s getting a sequel to help improve on the original. Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is scheduled for a summer release in Australia and New Zealand.

Resident Evil 0 Remaster Screenshots and Debut Trailer Released

Late last month Capcom announced that they will be releasing Resident Evil 0, an HD remaster of the original title, onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in early 2016 and at the time they had very little to show of the game but now the company has released a batch of new screenshots as well as a debut trailer.

You can check out both the screenshots and the trailer below, and as for the game itself, Capcom have created high-resolution textures from scratch to support 1080p on next-gen consoles while preserving the classic appearance of the original release, remastered the sound effects, and are offering both the modern day controls and the classic tank controls for those who want to relive the classic horror experience all over again.

Today PM Studios (the force behind DJ MAX) and Acttil announced that they will be bringing the rhythm game Superbeat: Xonic, from developers Nurijoy, to North America sometime this fall where it will be available at retail and as a digital download for the PlayStation Vita. The title will feature over forty five different music tracks with 200 different play patterns, there difficulty modes to try these songs on, a tutorial mode, worldwide and local rankings, and finally fifty “mesmerizing images” that will appear throughout the game.

To go along with this announcement, the first screenshots for Superbeat: Xonic were released and you can check those out below.

Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess ‘Deception Studio’ and New Stages Detailed

deception-IV-TNP-screenshot- (13)

Today Koei Tecmo released a new batch of screenshots showing off some of the new stages as well as a trailer introducing the brand new ‘Deception Studio’ that is new to Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess. The Deception Studio allows players to create their own characters for the princesses to defeat, including the ability to select the weapon type, outfit choices, name, background story and even immunities, resistances and strengths allow players to create unique and distinctive enemies.

Since Velguirie is far more sadistic than Laegrinna, she is capable of bringing her prey into the demi-plane between the dreamlands and waking world allowing her to utilize three odd new stages to eliminate her prey. This includes a Gymnasium featuring spring boards, balance beams, basketball hoops, and high velocity ball throwers, a playground that forces enemies to go down slides, ride on merry-go-rounds, and be flung into the air by innocent looking objects, while the Hospital is perhaps the most sadistic yet featuring operating tables, electrocution, and oversized needles.

Kalypso Media has announced that the first expansion for Tropico 5 will be out next week for the PS4. Sales of the dictatorial strategy title have blown past expected purchases. The expansion, titled Waterborne, will be available for digital download on the Playstation Store.

In thanks to the success of the PS4 launch, Kalypso has also announced that a free demo has been made available on the PS4 as well, available here. Waterborne brings many new gameplay features to Tropico 5, including water traffic, more coastal areas, new events, another campaign, and more.

The expansion has been out on PC for some time, but the success of Tropico V on PS4 bodes well for the longevity of the title. It also shows that the strategy & simulation genres are not dead on consoles. Check out the Waterborne expansion on June 17th for £14.99/€19.99/$19.99, or check out the demo if you haven’t tried it yet. See the launch trailer below.

Project CARS On Demand and Racing Icons Pack

Project CARS On Demand is what Slightly Mad Studios are calling their commitment to keeping Project CARS up-to-date with the “greatest, freshest, and most critical content” and while they continually use a lot of buzz words they are delivering with a new info graphic showing their plan for the future to keep new content rolling in to its players. Free cars and sticker packs will continue to come free of charge, while paid add-on content based on fan demand will also be produced in lieu of a long-term season pass, which the studio feels is a better option as users don’t pay for content they don’t want.

The first new paid content pack is called the Racing Icons Car Pack and you can check out the trailer for it below. The pack adds Bentley to the ever-growing list of manufacturers within Project CARS with two iconic GT and Prototype models, plus two more powerful GT machines from the stables of Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. The Racing Icons Pack is available for download now for AU $3.49. Project CARS released last month on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The mythical Wii U version is still reported to be in the works.
