With Rise of the Tomb Raider set to be released in a little under two weeks for the Xbox One, Microsoft and Square Enix have opted to release a bit of an early launch trailer for the game showing off primarily cut-scene footage and giving us a glimpse at why Lara is finding herself in the situation that she is in in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Considering the high amount of cut-scenes shown off in the video alongside a bit of gameplay footage one may wish to avoid it in case they want to go into Rise of the Tomb Raider with as little storyline knowledge as possible, but for those who wish to check it out you can find it below accompanied by Karen O’s “I Shall Rise” song.
While the Yakuza may be known as a huge criminal organization in Japan, they still need some time off for fun and that is something that has always been available in the Yakuza game. The same will be true when Yakuza 5 is released in North America and Europe as Sega has released a number of new screenshots showing off the various side activities players can take part in.
These activities range from being outdoor actives such as hunting bears or fishing to more casual mini-games such as playing in an arcade, taking pictures in a photo booth, bowling, playing darts, participating in idol activities, and more. It is worth noting that Yakuza 5 still does not have a solid release date for the West but is planned to be released before the end of the year as a digital download for the PlayStation 3.
Over the past few years we have seen a boon in niche Japanese games being localized for Western release but we have also seen the rise of some annoying censorship issues. Some of the censorship does make a bit of sense while others are absolutely ridiculous and a few titles have pushed the limit so far that they weren’t even touched for Western release. As such with Koei Tecmo working on bringing Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita the company has been rather mum about releasing the game in the West, with only the passing mention of a “modified” version if it ever is released.
As such many have turned directly to importing Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 and there is some good news for those that do. According to Koei Tecmo and Play-Asia, the Asian version of the game will support English subtitles when it is released on February 25, 2016, allowing for a far smaller barrier for those who don’t want to wait to see how the title may be handled, if at all, by localization.
After blowing away their funding goal Ys Net has been focusing on developing Shenmue III and now that they are three months into the title they have an update for fans. So far the company has said that the story and scenarios are out of the planning stages and are being implemented into the world of the game.
The update does note that the main focus of the work at the moment is on map testing to make sure that no maps turn out too big or too large but that wasn’t all they had to share with fans. As you can see from the above two images, they have released some new images of Shenmue III that are all “still in testing” with Ryo’s character model being an older one and a few other models, such as the black suited men, being simple placeholders for now.
If you are curious as to why the battle screenshots shown above and below are awkward looking, it is due to an extreme angle being used to avoid spoiling anything that may be contained in these scenes.

In case you haven’t been paying attention to your release dates, then you may not have noticed that February 23, 2016 was going to be a loaded release date with a number of big name titles being released. Well, it seems that at least one of those is going to be coming out a little bit later as EA has announcedthat Mirror’s Edge Catalyst has been delayed from its initial release date all the way to May 24th.
Of course the delay isn’t simply to put Mirror’s Edge Catalyst in a better release window, it is, as Senior Producer Sara Jannson says to reach the “highest quality possible” in the title and make sure that when the palyer steps into the “massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it’s as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be.”
Over the last few weeks Atlus and VanillaWare have been releasing story trailers for each of the playable characters in Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir and now that they have done all of them, they are now focusing on showing off these characters’ special skills and combat techniques.
The first character to be focused on is Gwendolyn again and you can check out her video below. As for the game itself, Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is currently set to be released in Japan on January 14th for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita and a North American release for sometime in 2016 has already been confirmed.
Fans of Outlast will be happy to hear that Red Barrels Games isn’t done with the series and is currently in the process of making a sequel the the original horror game. For now it is simply titled Outlast II but the company is planning on releasing it for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac sometime in fall 2016.
Through a teaser trailer that you can check out below as well as some teaser details, it appears that Outlast II will be designed to “test your faith” and push players to a place where “going mad is the only sane thing to do.”
Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book marks the first time that the series is appearing on the PlayStation 4 and is also the first time that one of the core games was developed for the PlayStation Vita right from the start rather than as a delayed “Plus” version.
As such Gust and Koei Tecmo have chosen to release a comparison trailer showing off how the two different versions of Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book will look when it is released in Japan on November 19th. The video mostly features combat footage and starts out with a boss battle but roughly halfway through the comparisons begin with the only version not shown being the PS3 version.
Those who have been eager to see how the story will progress in Higurashi Hou will be happy to hear that MangaGamer now has a set release date for the second episode of the series. They plan on releasing Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 2 – Watanagashi on November 13th and they have already opened up pre-orders for the episode that will be available both through Steam as well as through MangaGamer’s official store where it can currently be bought at a slight discount of $7.15 instead of the standard $7.95.
