Yooka-Laylee-Toybox-Screenshot-05

For those who backed a tier of £20 or more for Playtonic Games Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter, you can now access the promised toybox feature which allows you to roam around in a virtual reality sandbox. Those who backed a tier of £35 or more will have access to the toybox+ which features an attack combo, some extra areas and some basic enemies to fight.

I’ve played through the normal toybox I had access to myself collecting all the 100 quills and I got to say it was a fun time. Even for a short demo such as this Playtonic snuck in a good amount of puzzles and challenges to finding the quills which was a nice mini objective. Yooka and Laylee control brilliantly and the music was a true call back to that Banjo-Kazooie style im sure old fans will love. We also get a glimpse of the snarky humour one can expect from this game from a cute NPC robot.

If this pre-alpha build is anything to go by then Yooka-Laylee is set to land a place alongside it’s famous twin predecessors in platforming history. After an announced delay, Yooka-Laylee is set to arrive on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, Linux and Mac in Q1 2017. If you believe you backed the correct tier and should be able to play the toybox for yourself then head on over to Yooka-Laylee Toybox FAQ to see how to claim and redeem your code. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Announced

darksiders-warmastered-screenshot-03

The first Darksiders game was a highlight from the last console generation, successfully mixing a blend of action and RPG elements into a Zelda like adventure with some great mythos as well. Players can now retake control of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, in the remastered version, cleverly titled Darksiders: Warmastered Edition.

According to the official Nordic Games website, the remastered edition will feature:

  • PS4, Xbox One and Wii U versions of Darksiders (Wrath of War)
  • Native 1080p rendering resolution
  • Doubled all the texture resolutions
  • Rendering improvements and rework
  • Better shadow rendering quality
  • Post processing effects
  • 60 FPS in moment to moment gameplay (PS4, Xbox One, PC, 30 for WiiU)
  • 4K option for PC as well as additional video options.

A fair upgrade in performance and visuals for a title that already looked decent for its time. If you haven’t played Darksiders before I definitely recommend checking it out when it releases on October 25th for the discount price of $20 US. Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition was released last year, strangely getting the remastered treatment before it’s predecessor. Hopefully this is lining the way for a Darksiders III announcement.

Dicetiny Review

Dicetiny

Developer: Fakedice
Publisher: Fakedice
Platforms: Mac, Windows (Reviewed)
Release Date: 22 July, 2016
Price: $14.99 USD – Available Here

Dicetiny is a blend between a turn based card and board game that is set in a fantasy world that offers hours of fun, puns and hilarious movie and book references. “Another card game?” I hear you saying.. well to even my surprise the developers Fakedice managed to make Dicetiny feel unique even though they do get some of their inspiration from other card games. The humour alone is enough to keep you going but is also supported by that great diverse gameplay and the many unique game modes and side quests that you stumble across throughout your journey.

Most of my experiences with playing Dicetiny are positive and it is definitely a game I will keep eye on in the future. Fingers crossed with a few updates and maybe a little more time they will add the incredibly needed Multiplayer.

Make sure you check out my full video review and Let’s Play below! Dicetiny is a title that you card game fans cannot miss and is available on Steam now!

MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death Combat Screenshots Released

MeiQ-Labyrinth-of-Death-screenshot-(24)

A new batch of English screenshots for MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death have been released by Idea Factory International and this time around the focus of these images happens to be on the dungeon crawling RPG’s battle system. In MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death, Guardians have higher stats than mages, but only mages can repair Guardians. Harness the full potential of your team by switching between the two during battles. For example, monsters have different weaknesses, so sometimes relying on Machina mages’ magic is better than the heavy-hitting weapons you crafted for your Guardian.

It will be up to the player to strategically fight to prove themselves as Southern Cross’ strongest Machina Mage. MeiQ: Labyrinth of Deathis currently set to be released on the PS Vita in North America on September 13th and in Europe on September 16th.

Corona Blossom Volume 1 Now Available on Steam

corona-blossom-volume-1-screenshot-001

You may remember that Frontwing had previously funded the release of Corona Blossom through an Indiegogo campaign and it looks like that is already bearing fruit. I say this because Frontwing has announced that Corona Blossom Volume 1: Gift From the Galaxy is now available for PC through Steam. The title is priced at $10 but at the moment it is currently on sale at a 10% discount for the next week. Those who are interested in a more adult experience can choose to pick up the 18+ patch for the game to add adult content through DLsite for an extra $10.

Frontwing describes Corona Blossom as a comedic static visual novel that will be released in three parts and for those who want to try out the visual novel, the company has made a demo available through Steam. The story of Corona Blossom Vol.1 revolves around a young man named Keiji Osaki, a young man whose relatively quiet life repairing VORKS (heavy-duty industrial robots) at his grandfather’s workshop is turned upside down when he encounters a metallic lifeform attached to a meteorite that fell from the sky.
