AboutPUBG MOBILE PUBG MOBILE is developed by Tencent Games and PUBG Corp. and based on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the original PC and Xbox One gaming phenomenon that took the world of interactive entertainment by storm in 2017. Up to 100 players parachute onto a remote island to battle in a winner-takes-all showdown. Players must locate and scavenge their own weapons, vehicles and supplies, and defeat every player in a visually and tactically rich battleground that forces players into a shrinking play zone.

There was a time that many fighting games besides your standard big name franchises were released to fill certain niches. These games tend to still be released here and there in Japan but often do not make their way overseas, especially in recent years. Thankfully not every developer is afraid of taking a risk and catering to fans who have supported these niches and now we have SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy arriving thanks to SNK and NIS America. Seen as something of a successor to the aged SNK Gals’ Fighters this title looks to bring together some of the most popular female characters across numerous SNK franchises and pit them together in tag-team combat.
Story
Rather than offering a full campaign SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy offers an arcade mode simply deemed the “Story” mode where players are able to select two of the female characters that they wish to take into the fray. The story sees all of these girls, some pulled from The King of Fighters, The Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown, and even more obscure series, thanks to Kukri, a mysterious fighter that appeared in The King of Fighters XIV.
Kukri has managed to open up his own special pocket dimension and thanks to this, the girls have all been trapped and dressed in strange outfits with the only escape being to beat down Kukri and free themselves before his twisted dream of making the entire world his playground comes true. As mentioned before players will select two characters who will then battle through a number of standard fights, viewing a few Kukri based cutscenes in between, before facing off against the big bad and vanquishing him.
This unlocks oft humorous ending sequences for both fighters shown through slideshow sequences while the credits role. These little ending slideshows usually feature appearances from other characters from the main series and Terry’s even seems to focus a bit on the actual storyline from the main series but don’t expect much more than a few laughs from these endings. Another nice touch to this game’s credit is the fact that every pairing of characters has a unique dialogue sequence at the start and end of the mode as well as unique dialogue depending on what character they happen to beat in a fight, giving players some extra motivation to try using different pairings.
Gameplay
SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy may be a fighting game but don’t expect this game to be one that will test the limits of your button input capabilities. In fact, this title happens to feature a very easy and not even hard to master fighting system. Players are given a weak attack that automatically will string together into an auto combo, a heavy attack, a throw button, and a button that uses special moves. Other than the block ability the title doesn’t really offer too much else in the form of combat other than flashy finishing moves called Dream Finishers that we’ll touch upon in a moment.
Despite its superficial nature players can still find plenty of ways to string together powerful attack strings by mixing up their light attacks into specials or, with the use of tagging in your partner and using items, triggering lengthy combos that will devastate your foe but don’t expect too much of this complexity to really come into play unless you want to take your skills and test them against others in multiplayer.
Another slightly smaller element comes in the form of items. Around each stage glowing yellow lanterns will appear and when broken they will give the player items that can help them in combat. These range from refilling health or spirit gauges, throwing poison bottles or pinballs at an opponent, to turning the screen into a complete mosaic. Now one element that does separate SNK Heroines from other fighters is the way that it borros a bit from PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale where opponents can only be finished off with a special move. In this case it happens to be called a “Dream Finisher” and while these moves can be used at almost any time in a fight, they will only completely put down your opponent when they are at low health.
Players have their standard health gauge as well as a Spirit Gauge that is required to use special moves and unleash a Dream Finisher but the game happens to balance these in an interesting way. The lower your health gauge gets, the bigger your spirit gauge can grow and vice versa, allowing for a potential comeback if you happen to be doing poorly. Both characters on any given side share the same health pool though swapping out midfight is useful as they do not share Spirit Gauges and can often be brought in to defeat a foe for good. It is worth noting that completely dropping an opponent’s health will leave them in a stunned state that allows for an easy Dream Finisher so don’t expect a one sided battle to easily be turned around despite how tense some final fights can end up being thanks to this system.
The actual game modes included in the game can be a little sparse unfortunately and with the short length of each arcade fight, even with the option to see numerous different scenes with different pairings, don’t expect this game to really hold up for long. There is the standard story/arcade mode, a versus mode against a CPU or local player, a survival mode, training, and tutorial. All fights in the game give players money that can either be used to unlock scenes that you haven’t seen before or purchase special costumes for each girl, of which there are three in total, as well as accessories to dress them up in. The online component works well enough here and features the ability to take part in room matches with others or simply fight in quick matches that you can choose to wager in-game money on if you like.
Visuals & Audio
It is quite clear what SNK was aiming for with SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy and they have clearly hit the mark when it comes to the character designs. Each girl features a nicely detailed looking character model with each of the three costumes featuring a variety of color options that are often a bit more than a simple palette swap and at least one of these costumes tend to reference the series the character comes from. The fan service element is dialed up quite high in this colorfully flashy fighter and that will delight those looking for a light hearted fighting game to pass some time. In fact, there are even special reward images for beating the game using certain pairings of fighters.
As far as the soundtrack goes, the background music is a bit standard for a fighting game, even a less serious one such as this. The voice acting is entirely in Japanese and is handled very well, even in Terry’s genderbent case, and there are even voice options to purchase for each of the girls as well.
Overall
There is certainly room for light and colorful fighting games in this market and SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy fits that niche perfectly with the bonus of featuring plenty of fan service, especially with characters such as Mai Shiranui and Love Heart being part of the roster. That being said, the actual amount of content found in this tag team fighter is a bit sparse to really keep fans coming back for more and, though being on the Switch like this does make it a perfect type of game to simply throw together a couple of fights without worrying too much about needing to be on the top of your game while possibly on the go.

ELECTRIFIED WRESTLING RING ADDS MUSCLE TO DEAD OR ALIVE 6
Three Rumble-Ready Fighters Return to Series Thanks to Professional Wrestling Themed Storyline
Hertfordshire, 5th October 2018 – KOEI TECMO Europe is excited to announce the return of three hard-hitting fighters – Bass, Tina, and Mila – to DEAD OR ALIVE 6 as they help introduce an all new professional wrestling organisation into the game thanks to a storyline as electrifying as the ring ropes.
Known as “The King of the Ring,” Bass is a seasoned professional wrestler known for his destructive power and versatile throwing techniques. He’s also the doting father of Tina, “The Superstar of a Thousand Dreams.” And while Tina flashes some of the same versatile throws as her father; including an explosive new slam added to her repertoire, she is also proficient in strikes as Bass trains her to become the top wrestler in the world. But, Tina isn’t the only female ready to fight in DEAD OR ALIVE 6; as professional wrestling fan, Mila, has also been added to the line-up. Nicknamed “The Hot-Blooded Champ,” Mila is a mixed-martial artist known for winning titles as a result of tackling techniques and her expertise in the ground-and-pound game that she hopes will prove fruitful in her quest to ultimately takedown her long-time rival, Bass.
All three characters are instrumental to DEAD OR ALIVE 6’s new wrestling stage “THE MUSCLE.” As an introduction to their new fighting ring, the father-daughter duo of Bass and Tina gather reporters inside an arena to unveil their new professional wrestling organisation, also known as The Muscle. Inside the arena stage, not only will the action be fast and fierce, but the ring ropes surge with electrical current while the steel pillars surrounding the squared-circle bellow fire at warry brawlers. Who has what it takes to bring home the championship? Find out when DEAD OR ALIVE 6 hits stores on the 15th February 2019 for the PlayStation®4 Computer Entertainment System, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and digitally on Windows PC via Steam®.

While the original State of Decay broke some new ground as far as zombie survival goes, the sequel added a bit more to the formula while falling short in a number of other areas where its predecessor succeeded. One thing that State of Decay 2 managed to add fairly successfully was a multiplayer element and now Undead Labs has released a piece of DLC centered around this multiplayer experience in the form of the Daybreak Pack. Bringing with it a new game mode, a number of new weapons, and some minor bonuses to the core game, is this DLC worth your time?
Gameplay
The Daybreak Pack drops players into the boots of a randomized Red Talon Soldier, one of three at a time, who are tasked with guarding a randomized technician in an effort to restore a satellite relay back to perfect functionality. To do this the technician must be protected for seven waves of increasingly difficult and numerous zombies that all are seeking to eat everything that is still alive. As you may surmise, this means that the Daybreak Pack is a multiplayer horde mode that sees players either facing up to seven waves of zombies by themselves paired with two other AI soldiers or teaming up with two other players online, allowing up to three heads to work together to stay alive.
Players are initially given three chests filled with a decent amount of supplies in the form of extra firearms, medkits, bandages that can be used to heal the technician, ammo, and wall repair kits that are essential for keeping most of the undead at bay. There are a number of walls that players can, generally, shoot through to deal damage to the undead from a safe distance but it is worth noting that these walls can be taken down quite easily if a number of undead are left unchecked. Unfortunately, while repetition will give players the ability to easily tell exactly how much health a wall has, players must simply use a color coded warning symbol to determine when a wall needs repair rather than use actual health meters that would have been far better and avoided the potential waste of limited wall repair kits.
Combat is all handled the same way as the core game with the Red Talon soldiers being skilled for combat, allowing them to use melee weapons and aim firearms effectively without running too low on stamina. Melee is essentially a player’s bread and butter for most of the standard zombies as ammo for firearms and explosives eventually will begin to run scarce, even with CLEO drops eventually being given out in-between later rounds.
This is essential since while things may start a bit easy with only easy to kill bloaters and standard zombies appearing in initial rounds later rounds will continue to add tougher foes in the form of Ferals that will simply climb over walls to directly attack the technician, Juggernauts that take a massive amount of damage to take down and can easily breach walls, and even “new” Blood Plague Juggernauts that can leave clouds of infection in their wake. Basic blood plague zombies will also appear and just like in the core game, if you end up getting too infected then death will come swiftly.
Unfortunately for the Daybreak Pack, that is all there really is to this DLC as a whole. Outside of unlocking some new weapons that can be used in a starting loadout and eventually unlocking special gear, including a Red Talon Soldier of your very own, that can be purchased in the main game through a new currency called “prestige” that is earned by completing various waves and killing special zombies in horde mode, there are few real new mechanics or even interesting additions in this pack.
Repetition quickly becomes the only way to really grind your way through waves and eventually unlock equipment that will make your life easier and make things better for the standard game. It doesn’t help that death is almost a certainty for the most part, even if you manage to stay connected to other players online in a multiplayer match since lag can be a real problem that will see zombies teleporting around and breaking through barriers that were previously pristine or simply disconnecting entirely. Playing offline allows players to avoid the laggy nature that can plague online matches but also robs players of the more enjoyable experiences of working together as a team.
Visuals & Audio
As far as new designs go, this Daybreak Pack really doesn’t have too much special to offer other than a handful of new character designs, since the Red Talon soldiers are mostly identical outside of slightly different outfits and builds, and the newly Blood Plagued Juggernaut. The new weapons that are available are a bit of a nice touch but unfortunately there isn’t anything really crazy to be added into the arsenal here. As for the actual map that you are playing on, it remains the same no matter how many times you run through the mode though the actual map is fairly large, though you’ll likely only see these between rounds as you’ll want to spend most of the actual rounds defending the walls rather than exploring to see the little tidbits placed around the area.
The soundtrack doesn’t really offer anything new as well other than the same standard tones and sound effects from the zombie horde. The new voice work for the random soldiers as well as the technician are fitting for the game but don’t stand out in any special way.
Overall
The State of Decay 2: Daybreak Pack feels like something that was created to capitalize on the fact that the game now features a multiplayer mode and unfortunately not too much else. While the game mode itself is fine and can be a blast when playing with others, lag and disconnects can ruin an online match and although grinding for gear to use in the main game can be fun, the repetition of playing on only one map does get a bit old, making this a serviceable but ultimately unimpressive horde mode.
Paranormal Thriller The Midnight Sanctuary Arrives on Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam
PSVR and Steam VR Support to Follow
TOKYO – 5 Oct. 2018 –The Midnight Sanctuary, the occult suspense 3D novel from Sony publishing label UNTIES and developer CAVYHOUSE, torments Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam today. VR support will vex PSVR and Steam users at a later date.
In hopes of becoming a modern tourist destination, the people from long-isolated village of Daiusu have built a majestic cathedral to attract visitors with its religious history. Enter quirky historian Hamomuro Tachibana, voiced by popular Japanese actress Yū Shimamura (Final Fantasy XV,The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Attack on Titan), come to chronicle the many legends kept in the local archive and teach villagers about modern customs.
Tachibana’s stay quickly takes a heinous turn when residents begin phasing in and out of existence, hurling themselves from the cliffs overlooking the rural town, and contorting in spine-shattering positions. As she learns of the locals’ cult-like adoration for a mysterious deity known as “The Saint”, Tachibana begins to question what is real. Are these villagers specters in the night? Is The Saint real and returning, and if so, what horrors come with her?
The Midnight Sanctuary blends reality and surrealism in its storytelling and audiovisual elements. Heavily inspired by stained glass and cut-paper art, the novel presents mystic elements with striking graphics and colorful scenes that mix 2D textures with 3D models.
“It’s a very Japanese tale of supernatural horror told with the exceptional aesthetic distinction CAVYHOUSE brings to all their games,” said John Davis, G&R Representative, UNTIES. “The studio’s distinct brand of storytelling adds another layer of eeriness to The Midnight Sanctuary’s unsettling mystery.”
The Midnight Sanctuary is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam for $9.99 USD and supports English text localization, with full audio and text available in Japanese.

Big Ant Studios Brings Australia’s Favourite Family Sport To Consoles With Big Bash Boom
Arcade thrills, big hits and explosive power in the first officially licensed KFC Big Bash League / rebel Women’s Big Bash League console game, available from November 29, 2018.
Melbourne, Oct 4, 2018: Big Ant Studios, Australia’s leading sports game developer, has today announced Big Bash Boom, which has been developed in collaboration with Cricket Australia. Perfect for the whole family, Big Bash Boom mixes all the big hitting thrills of T20 cricket with instantly accessible arcade action. Anyone, anywhere, will be able to jump in and be hitting the ball like a pro with Big Bash Boom, which is fully licensed and includes all teams and players featured in this year’s KFC Big Bash League (BBL) and rebel Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) – meaning fans can take control of their favourite players.
“Our previous cricket games, such as last year’s Ashes Cricket, have been known for being authentic, simulation style takes on the sport,” Big Ant Studios CEO, Ross Symons, said.
“We wanted to do something different with Big Bash Boom. Just as the BBL itself has grown to become Australia’s favourite family summer event, this is a game the whole family can jump into and have a great time with.”
T20 cricket is known for its relentless action, free-flowing sixes, and dramatic run chases. Big Bash Boom ramps up the excitement of the T20 format to 11, with flaming trails when players hit sixes, beachball-sized cricket ball powerups, and a dancing duck, to really rub those out-for-zero failures in and give you the ultimate last word when playing a friend.
All BBL and WBBL teams will be present and fully licensed in the game, with even the club mascots putting in an appearance! Players will also be able to earn additional hilarious items to bling out their teams and really show their competition who’s boss. Ever wanted to know what it’s like to play cricket with a potato as the ball? Big Bash Boom has you covered!
In addition to all these fun features, players can also earn powerups during play that all but guarantee a massive six out of the park. And don’t worry, Big Bash Boom hasn’t forgotten about the bowlers. T20 is a tough ask for bowlers at the best of times, but they get a fighting chance in Big Bash Boom with a powerup that shrinks the bat to the size of a stump. Good luck hitting that six needed to clinch victory.
“Big Ant Studios really understands cricket and what it is that excites so many people about our sport. With the Big Bash now Australia’s biggest cricketing competition, we wanted to work together to create an accessible game for fans of all ages that reflects what people love about the BBL,” said Cricket Australia’s Head of the Big Bash, Kim McConnie.
Big Bash Boom will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, and will be released on November 29, just in time for the start of WBBL|04 and BBL|08, plus all the summer family get-togethers in the lead-up to Christmas. Pre-orders are live now, and fans can snag an exclusive Steelbook Edition by pre-ordering at EB Games.
