The remake of the famous arcade game TOKI will be released on Nintendo Switch at the end of 2018!

The remake of the famous arcade game TOKI will be released on Nintendo Switch at the end of 2018!

Paris, April 5th, 2018 – Microïds, Anuman Interactive’s video games label, is proud to announce its collaboration with Philippe Dessoly and Pierre Adane to give new life to the arcade game Toki (aka Juju Densetsu in Japan) ! “We are delighted to be bringing this character and concept back to life. We can’t wait to see the remake with completely reworked graphics. Bringing Philippe Dessoly and Pierre Adane back together again is very promising,” declares Alain Milly – VP Publishing for Microïds.

Released for the first time in 1989, Toki has marked an entire generation of players thanks to its ape-like character and its specific arcade game difficulty. For its grand return on Nintendo Switch, Philippe Dessoly, the artist for the original Toki on Amiga, the creator of Mr Nutz and of official artwork for Goldorak and Albator, is taking charge of the artistic direction. He says, “I have a very special relationship with this game, which I am particularly fond of – in a way it’s my equivalent of Proust’s Madeleine! As soon as the music starts, I’m plunged back into the time when we ported the game to Amiga and Atari, when there was a very particular atmosphere in the video game sector. It’s a very special souvenir for me, so 30 years later, when they asked me to do the remake, it was impossible to refuse. I really enjoy improving and reinterpreting character designs and backgrounds. I sincerely hope that a maximum number of players and fans of the original – like me – will have fun playing it.”

The remake will give players the chance to discover or revisit this 2D platform game, and face up to the different levels and enemies, each wilder than the last! Pierre Adane, developer of Toki declares, “I’m very proud to be able to be bringing Toki back to life. There is an immense amount of pleasure in working on a project like this. For some time now Philippe and I have felt like working together again, and I’m happy that that’s coming together with Toki.”

Toki : the story

Toki, a human warrior, has a peaceful, primitive existence in the depths of the jungle with his beloved Miho. But they weren’t counting on the witch doctor Doctor Vookimedlo, who, entranced by Miho’s beauty, decides to kidnap her and transform Toki into a sinister-looking ape. With the help of the demon Bashtar, Doctor Vookimedlo takes Miho to his golden Palace far away. Determined to get her back, Toki sets forth on a perilous adventure to reach Doctor Vookimedlo’s home, save his sweetheart and regain his appearance.

The former warrior must adapt to his new form: rather than using conventional weapons, he spits strange projectiles at his enemies to eliminate them. In the course of his quest, Toki finds items that help him reach his destination, including an American football helmet, a pair of ferns and a tuba.

’39 Days to Mars’ Launches April 25 for PC, Mac and Linux

’39 Days to Mars’ Launches April 25 for PC, Mac and Linux

Solve co-op puzzles on a Victorian-era adventure to the Red Planet

Developer It’s Anecdotal is proud to announce its co-op steampunk puzzle-adventure game 39 Days to Mars will launch April 25th for Windows, Mac and Linux on Steam!

39 Days to Mars is a two player co-operative adventure game set in an alternate reality some 150 years in the past. You play as Sir Albert Wickes and The Right Honourable Clarence Baxter, two 19th century explorers who are piloting the HMS Fearful — a masterpiece of unreliable engineering — on its maiden voyage to Mars. Single-player adventuring and puzzle-solving can be had as well, with the ship’s computer-controlled cat there to keep you company.

When the steam engine runs out of coal, the ship’s aforementioned cat shreds the navigation chart, and the tea gets cold, it becomes clear that interstellar transportation isn’t a walk in the park. It will take the talents of two working together on a mix of puzzles and action sequences to get to Mars in one piece (let alone in 39 days).

39 Days to Mars will cost $14.99, with a right proper discount planned for launch week.

RTS ‘Iron Harvest’ to become first video game in months to reach $1,000,000 on Kickstarter

RTS ‘Iron Harvest’ to become first video game in months to reach $1,000,000 on Kickstarter

The classic realtime-strategy game ‘Iron Harvest’ has reached $1,000,000 in pledges on Kickstarter combined with pledges collected via the game’s website and is about to reach the same milestone on Kickstarter alone.

While boardgames have seen a 100% increase in pledges during 2016, collecting six times as much as video games in the same year, video games have struggled to obtain large-scale funding on the platform, as a recent analysis shows (see Kickstarter in 2017 – In depth look at the Games category).

‘Iron Harvest’ now becomes the first video game in a long while to finally shatter that magic $1,000,000 ceiling again.

“Iron Harvest is our fourth Kickstarted title. We successfully completed the previous three projects, earing the trust of the community”, said Jan Theysen, Iron Harvest’s Game Director. “However, receiving more pledges for Iron Harvest than with our previous three games combined and having the most successful video game Kickstarter campaign in a long time was beyond our wildest expectations.”

Iron Harvest is a classic real-time strategy game, set in the alternate reality of 1920+. With all singleplayer stretch goals being reached, the campaign strives to reach additional competitive multiplayer and co-op mode stretch goals. The Kickstarter campaign still going strong, ending on April 13th 2018.

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 Breaks Franchise Sales Records

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 Breaks Franchise Sales Records

Millions of People Join the Resistance to Liberate Hope County, Montana

Sydney, Australia – April 5, 2018 – Today, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 5 more than doubled first week sell-through of Far Cry 4, making Far Cry 5 the fastest selling title in the franchise’s history. Digital distribution accounted for more than 50 percent of those sales. Far Cry 5 now represents the second biggest launch ever for an Ubisoft game, following only Tom Clancy’s The Division, with $310M USD in consumer spending through the first week.[1]

In addition to the strong first week of sales, record-breaking numbers of people are engaging with Far Cry 5 content. People streamed more than 55,000 hours of Far Cry 5 on Twitch and YouTubers’ videos earned more than 117 million views.[2] Both are records for an Ubisoft title in a week following launch, and evidence of the impact user generated content is having in convincing players to join the Far Cry community.

“Far Cry 5 is a vast and gorgeous playground filled with colorful stories for players to enjoy and share,” Alain Corre, EMEA Executive Director, Ubisoft. “We’re grateful to newcomers and fans of the series who have joined us in Hope County and have collectively grown our community.”

Set in America, a first for the franchise, Far Cry 5 offers players total freedom to navigate a serene-looking yet deeply twisted world as the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana. Players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, the Project at Eden’s Gate, igniting a violent takeover of the county. Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance.

“I’m proud that the culmination of years of passionate work from the team is paying off, and that Far Cry 5’s experience resonates with so many people,” said Dan Hay, Executive Producer on Far Cry. “We are humbled by players’ reception of Far Cry 5 and fired up to keep growing and supporting the Far Cry community in the months and years to come.”

Far Cry 5 is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. For more information on Far Cry 5, please visit farcry.com and follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/farcry.usa and on Twitter at twitter.com/farcrygame or hashtag #farcry5.
