Kill La Kill

Kill La Kill-Badge-AUTUMN-2Where do I start? Kill la Kill is, simply put, pure awesome. A crazy, chaotic experience that will probably leave you saying “Wow!” as often as it’ll have you saying “What?” As you bounce around the madhouse that is Hannouji Academy, you’ll come to witness a gaggle of  unique characters. A scantily clad heroine who is a genre savvy, self proclaimed delinquent. A fashionista villainess who rules through fear and sheer, unbridled confidence. A quirky sidekick who is so absolutely insane that she may just be the smartest character in the series. There’s so many characters to enjoy and so much to enjoy them doing. From casually chatting about the death penalty for being late to school, to engaging in action sequences that have been distilled to short bouts of 100% badass.

That being said, the series definitely stands apart from most others, a fact which not everybody likes. Granted, the story itself is not inherently complex, but it was never supposed to be. That isn’t to say it isn’t good, just that it revels in the core elements of storytelling. Honour, duty, revenge. Whereas some series draw their intensity mostly from plot, Kill la Kill decided to just go straight for what it considered to be cool. Kill la Kill is a series that you just have to let yourself get lost in. Don’t think too hard, just enjoy what is. Actions speak louder than words after all…and this show screams to high heaven. – Kane Bugeja
