The Devil is a Part-Timer
The Spring 2013 season saw the rise of what might have been the most talked about anime of the year but there were better series outside of that one, and the best of these just so happened to be The Devil is a Part Timer! Now while what makes people laugh is usually different from one person to the next, there are very few comedies that are capable of making someone laugh every episode and at a pace that Devil is a Part Timer! Managed. By taking the standard ‘fish out of water’ stereotype and making the focus of the series a nearly defeated demon lord and a hero chasing him down as they both try to make ends meet in Japan was absolutely hilarious.
It also helps that while there are plenty of gag series that have humor going for them, but nothing else, The Devil is a Part Timer managed to create an intriguing storyline with equally interesting characters that viewers couldn’t help but enjoy. Put this together with plenty of impressively animated action sequences matched by enjoyable character designs and facial expressions and The Devil is a Part Timer easily was the best anime of Spring 2013. – Travis Bruno
