Time to get tactical on Modern Warfare 2 Community Night with Capsule Computers

6

Itttttttssssss Tiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Whoops.. I am a bit UFC crazy at the moment (don’t we all love Bruce Buffer, have you seen the Buffer 360?), but it is time boys and girls, time to get tactical with the Capsule Computers crew on the current #1 Xbox360 game – Modern Warfare 2.

Xbox Australia has agreed to let Capsule Computers host a MW2 community night on Xbox Live.  The time will be 8pm-11pm on Friday 12th March 2010.  This is Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time.  All you have to do before or during that time is message anyone of the following Tango’s :-

Master Abbott
KINGROC69
xI ROCK Ix
DuraRoc

We will add you into the game we are playing if there is room, if not, we will split off and create another room.  What we are thinking of doing is hosting some Private Ground War matches – 9 v 9 – and we can change things around to suit ourselves.  I really want to play Headquarters on Rust with no killstreaks – but we are open to suggestions.

Just to give you a bit of an idea about what it will be like playing with the Capsule Computers crew.

KINGROC69 likes to break out into song – last night it was Volare  – the whole party joined in.  One of the classic MW2 moments. If you are a camper KingRoc69 will adore you forever! One other thing to remember, do NOT, I repeat DO NOT try and steal his care packages, bad things will happen to you.

xI ROCK Ix likes to tube all night and then SMS the crew the next day saying he had a great time and wants to do it again tonight.  He also likes talking to imaginary friends on the phone whilst he is on Live.

Master Abbott likes to get tactical, or so he says, even when he goes 0 – 11.

DuraRoc likes to boost – errr.. so everyone keeps telling him anyway.  He also likes to cut other peoples grass.

Here they all are posing for the Camera, but it seems that MasterAbbott as per usual always has to stuff things up by looking in the opposite direction 😉

Look out for the more information on the community page on the Xbox dashboard soon, just in case you forget. More details to come if there are any, might even be a prize or 2, let’s see what we can do.

Have fun. Convey your thoughts by posting a message below, or send us a message on Live.

The wait is nearly over! Nintendo and Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announce Monster Hunter® Tri for Wii. Monster Hunter Tri will be available in May 2010 as a standalone game, or in a bundle with the new Classic Controller Pro™ which comes in black.

Monster Hunter Tri offers one of the best visual Wii experiences to date and depicts a living, breathing ecosystem where humans co-exist with majestic monsters that roam both dry land and brand new sub-aqua environments – a first for the series. Offering the player varied control configurations to suit their style of play, players can choose between the Classic Controller Pro, Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk™, or Classic Controller™ to slay the monsters that inhabit the world.

The Classic Controller Pro’s more traditional control configuration will give gamers the ultimate monster hunting experience. The Classic Controller Pro includes a second row of shoulder buttons and ergonomically friendly grips. The Classic Controller Pro plugs directly into the Wii Remote™ controller, and until now, has been available only in the Japanese market.

Monster Hunter Tri is online play supported, so you can take your monster hunt online with up to three of your friends and talk to them via Wii Speak™. Or hunt together with a friend on one Wii in split-screen mode.

Introducing Nintendo DSi XL with larger screens than ever before

5

Look at what we have here !! A new Nintendo DSi called the DSi XL !! with a much bigger screen compared to the regular DSi !! This by far a the best thing Nintendo have done as a lot of people I’ve spoken to about the DSi were not very impressed with the slight increase screen size from the NDS Lite.  Now with the introduction of the XL you can see a huge difference and now you dont have to squint so much when playing on a small screen.

Check out the official press release from Nintendo after the break :

Japanese Gamers Prefer Subs slightly more than Dubs

3

Photobucket

Exactly 6,656 were polled over the past two years in Japan, both through online forms and in-game packaging, on whether or not they prefer Subbed video games, Dubbed video games, or had a different choice.

For those of you who don’t know, a Dubbed video game is when the original audio was removed from the game, and another language was placed over it. Such as the upcoming FXIII is an English dubbed version of the game, which originally was in Japanese.

However some people could prefer the option that the game be in the original Japanese Version, while having English subtitles below during any scenes involving dialogue.

Only a slight percentage more preferred a subbed video game, instead of a dubbed video game, with subbed having 49% and dubbed having 47%. The final 4% chose Other, which is quite curious as to how else they would prefer the game being presented to them unless they wanted it in the original language with no subtitles at all.

Personally I believe that there really should not be any need for a forced choice. Games like Eternal Sonata had an option to either hear the Japanese, or the English dialogue. Though games like Star Ocean: The Last Hope only had English settings, which is depressing considering the character motions did not match the voices nor the timing.

Photobucket

Game developers should try to provide a choice for their consumers, especially if the game is a Japanese import. Though it may increase the amount of data on the disk, having both dialogue options on the game would provide a more in depth experience. Also as I said before, dubbing a game can cause mistakes in the translation, or even cutting out certain dialogue as it is lost in translation.

This is seen in Armored Core 4. This occurs near the end of the game and causes confusion as an enemy acts like he knows your character, however presents no reason for this. This is because the text was not translated in the localized version for American release and was instead removed.

Photobucket

Technology has come quite far and translation methods have improved, but its hard to forget the errors of the past when it comes to certain translations. Though it is also hard to look at these mistakes from so many years ago, and worry about the future.

Let is know what you prefere, Subbed or Dubbed vote and also leave a comment too 🙂

As with all gaming related dates, these are subject to change.

Thoughts:

  • Avatar Clothes as Deal of the week: Some people may see this as a good chance to pick up avatar clothes, but I see it as a week without a cheap game that could actually give me some enjoyment.
  • Call of Duty: WaW: Map Pack Bundle : If you are still playing Call of Duty: WaW and don’t have the Zombie filled map packs, now would be the best time to pick them up for 400MSP off. Ideally I would have liked to see the price dropped down to 1200MSP, but we can’t get everything in life.
  • More Movies: For those of you with the Zune video marketplace on your Xbox, you can now watch many more movies. I’d suggest Xmen Origins: Wolverine if you haven’t already seen it.

So what are your opinions on this schedule? Also, here is a quick question: how many of you have payed for a movie from the Zune Marketplace?
