Former SCEE President to become COO of European arm
London – March 31st,2010 – Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed that it has appointed David Reeves as COO at CE Europe, the company’s European subsidiary. This role, effective from April 1st, 2010, will see Reeves responsible for overseeing all aspects of the European operation with the remit to maximise potential revenue and explore new areas for growth throughout the region.
Most recently President and CEO for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Reeves spent 14 years with the company setting up operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and overseeing the launch of PlayStation throughout Europe.
“We are very pleased to have secured the services of someone of David’s calibre, commented Hiroshi Tobisawa, President, CE Europe. “He brings with him an unprecedented level of industry knowledge and expertise which will be invaluable as we look to grow our European operation.”
Speaking about his appointment, David Reeves said, “I established a close working relationship with Capcom during my time at Sony and have always admired its commitment to push boundaries and develop innovative titles. It is therefore a real pleasure to now join this organisation and be a part of its future successes.”

This is a fantastic move by both parties. This will only cement Capcom’s place as one of the number one game developers in the world !!
THQ and Vigil announced that Darksiders is coming to the PC. They have only given a release window of June, but Vigil’s David Adams is promising “key features such as user-defined resolutions, interface and both keyboard and game pad control sets.”
Don’t want to read more? well, then think of it like this: “Post Apocolyptic Zelda With A Portal Gun“. If that sounds good to you, you are gonna love it!
I shouldn’t have to tell anyone this, because everyone already owns Mass Effect 2. If for some reason you don’t, then keep reading. If you do own it, like I suspect everyone does, you may continue on your merry way.
Amazon has both the Xbox 360 ($40) and the PC ($30) versions on sale and even the special edition for the PC ($38). So if you are still reading this, it means you don’t own the game, and you should click the corresponding link below to order it NOW!!
Looks like a fun game, the controls will be different from the normal Wii integration which makes me sad, because Wii controls on Metroid: Corruption was a lot of fun.
Well the Modern Warfare 2 Simulus Package is out and not without a few hiccups.. if you can call it that.
Here we are last night, all waiting in anticipation for the maps to be released, 11pm rolls by (was reliably informed that they would be out 11pm Sydney Time) – no maps.. grrr.. so we play some more and every couple of games check for the maps.
Just after midnight they show up! woohoo lets download! 329mb slowly comes down. OK lets play!
Sorry, we can’t play, Microsoft forgot one little thing.. to play the maps MW2 needed the Title Update. Going into MW2 at this point was really slow, hanging the Xbox, black screens or just no go. We ended up playing some Private Matches Free-4-All on Rust. How many times did I shoot KingRoc in the back.. anyway that story is for another day.
Then we see the twitter updates coming from MajorNelson – these are over a 4-5 hour period.
“The Stimulus Package needs a Title Update and it didn’t go out properly. We’re pushing it out now – it won’t be long. #MW2 (via @thevowel)”
“I’ll have another update in about 30-mins. Until then, you may see some weirdness if you try to d/l the map pack or update.”
“If ur getting “Can’t download the update” that’s us putting the latest update in place. Excuse our dust, we’ll be done ASAP.”
“The MW2 Title Update is now live! It may take a few minutes for everyone worldwide to get it – our apologies for the delay. #MW2”
Title update is live and can be downloaded, but wait there is more… Matchmaking is now totally broken! MajorNelson fills us in again via Twitter..
“Matchmaking is in a bad state on Xbox LIVE right now. We’re working on it and will resolve it as quickly as we can. #xboxlive #mw2”
then finally..
“#XboxLIVE matchmaking and #MW2 are in a much better place now and I see many of you playing. We’re still cleaning up a few loose ends.”
FYI RT @XboxSupport: Matchmaking across #XboxLIVE is fixed! You may still have trouble purchasing and we’ll let u know ASAP when fixed.
I went to bed way before this, though it was still 2am, so I woke up this morning, turned on, Title Update came down and…. Oh look it’s Overgrown! Let’s see if this matchmaking fix has worked.. checking <50 ping, checking <60 ping, checking <70 ping, checking <80 ping, checking <90 ping.. and so it went – took about 3 minutes or so to find a match – granted it was 7am, so hopefully when more Aussies are on this arvo and tonight, that should be fixed.
The ping checks are a bit crude, but if it works who I am to complain – a bit of waiting is way better than one dirty red dot!
So that was the night of Stimulus! You would think that MS would know better with such a massive release – this DLC will be the fastest and most downloaded in Xbox history by a long way – but considering there have been other major releases in the past (GTA4 anyone?) – you would expect alot better from MS. It’s all fixed now, so all good.
So notes on my limited playtime on the Stimulus Package.
1. Overgrown is really overgrown this time round and the foliage is much more lush! 😀
2. There are only 2 playlists for the Stimulus package and in those, the game type is random. This has to change, I am not a fan of Search and Destroy and Capture the Flag. I hope this changes in the future.
3. Double XP is only on the Stimulus playlists.
Have fun everyone! You know what I will be doing tonight. Msg me if you want to play tonight, you can join the Capsule Computers crew as we head deep into Stimulus and Double XP!
It is almost here! April 13th US & 15th for AU is quickly aproaching, get those pre-orders in while you can. Gamestop is offering a silenced shotgun if you pre-order from them. (Though if you actually try to do that in modern warfare 2 you would know that it doesn’t work too well)
There is also a special edition Xbox you can get with the game.
Remember about a year after Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas came out, there was talk about the hot coffee mod, and finally it was proven to truly exist? Then remember how there were many class action lawsuits placed against Take-Two Interactive because of this hidden sex mini-game? Well if you were one of the many people who filed a benefit claim against Take-Two before the deadline two years ago on May 16th, 2008, you will be receiving a little stimulus to your gaming budget in the mail.
Depending on the amount of detail you provided in your response to Take-Two Interactive, you will be receiving anywhere from $35 to $5 in the mail respectively. Those who will be receiving $35 were those that still had their receipt for the game, and sent it in as proof. While those at the $5 range had to literally prove nothing to anyone, and just say that they had the game.
The official letter from Take-Two Interactive is quoted below:
Dear Eligible Claimant:
Although the court hearing this action decided not to certify a settlement class, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. will voluntarily fulfill all properly-submitted claims.
By depositing the attached check, you will release any and all claims, of any nature whatsoever, including unknown claims, arising out of your purchase or use of the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas video game, against the Defendants, their officers, employees and representatives, and all persons or entities that designed, manufactured, supplied, advertised and marketed Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. You also will be deemed to have waived any and all rights that you have under any law or regulation that would otherwise limit the effect of this release to claims actually known or suspected to exist at the time of execution of this Settlement Agreement, including, but not limited to, the provisions of Section 1542 of the California Civil Code, to the extent deemed applicable, which provides as follows:
1542. “GENERAL RELEASE-CLAIMS EXTINGUISHED. A GENERAL RELEASE DOES NOT EXTEND TO CLAIMS WHICH THE CREDITOR DOES NOT KNOW OR SUSPECT TO EXIST IN HIS FAVOR AT THE TIME OF EXECUTING THE RELEASE, WHICH IF KNOWN BY HIM MUST HAVE MATERIALLY AFFECTED HIS SETTLEMENT WITH THE DEBTOR.”
Sincerely,
GTA: San Andreas 1st Edition Settlement Administrator
For those who don’t remember, San Andreas originally was rated MA and was fine for retail release at all stores, however after this modification was found out on a modded PC version of the game, the ESRB re-evaluated the game and rated it “AO” meaning Adults Only, effectively removing it from all retail stores.
If you were to have sent your original game into Take-Two, instead of just a receipt, they will return a fixed version of the game with the new AO labeling and the removal of the hot coffee data from the game itself.
So even though it’s taken a long time, a lot of people who might have even forgotten that they sent anything into Take-Two Interactive, will be receiving checks in the mail for free money that they didn’t even know was coming? Did anyone here mail in their case? I sent in the receipt for my game, and hope to be seeing the check arrive any day now. Ironic that those who sent their receipts, will be receiving money, as well as keeping the original game. While those that sent their game in, will only be receiving a fixed version.
