Chop Chop Soccer to hit the AppStore soon!

Chop Chop Soccer, the 4th installment of the Chop Chop Series (After Chop Chop Ninja, Chop Chop Runner and Chop Chop Tennis) will be hitting the AppStore soon.

Like all Chop Chop Games, Chop Chop Soccer uses a new type of gameplay specifically developed for the Apple Devices:

There are no virtual pads or buttons. All that’s needed is one finger to control all offensive and defensive actions.

To move, you just slide your finger on the screen. To pass, shoot or tackle, you just flick your finger in the direction you want your player or ball to go. That’s it!

Features:

– 3D arcade sports game

– frantic 3 vs. 3 soccer action

– Intuitive and extremely responsive touch controls

– Colorful cartoon graphics

– 12 teams to choose from (including World Champions Spain and Runner Up Netherlands)

– Four difficulty levels

– Four tournaments

– Four stadiums (including Egypt Pyramids and Paris Trocadero!)

– 5 Tutorials

Team attributes  :

Every team is rated as per their respective strengths in 3 areas: Offense, Defense and Goalie.

These ratings obviously affect the A.I.’s behavior but there’s more there than meets the eye: Each rating is actually derived from a comprehensive set of criteria that differ from team to team. Hence, no two teams will behave the same way even though their ratings may be similar. Examples of such criteria are:

– Attack Style (Short Passing, Long Ball, Balanced)

– Defense effectiveness (against Dribbles, Short Passes, Long Balls)

– Goaltender Running/Catching/Kicking Abilities

– Defensive Style (Zone, Man to Man, Balanced)

– Passing Speed/Precision

– Kicking Speed/Precision

– Tackling Speed/ Precision/Recovery

Etc.

Evolution:

Chop Chop Soccer will constantly evolve: More countries, more modes, and many many more surprises will be added with future updates.

Chop Chop Soccer release is expected for August 2010. Below you can see some screenshots and a trailer:

This Week On XBLA (7-26-2010)

Hydro Thunder Hurricane is pretty much the only title in the entire Summer of Arcade that includes water. That water is quite fun and enjoyable.

Vector Unit’s XBLA boat racing game follows Limbo in the Summer of Arcade on July 28th, and will cost 1200 Microsoft Points.

Check out our review of Hydro Thunderr Hurricane here.

Deal of the Week brings us all of Borderlands add-ons for half price, bring down the prices of the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx from 800 Points each, to a mere 400 Microsoft Points.

Batman headed to the Wii and Nintendo DS!

Citizens of Gotham are to be saved yet again, as Batman: The Brave and the Bold is getting a full video game treatment for the Wii and the DS this fall. Yes, Arkham Asylum is now the Batman experience for most gamers out there, but Brave and the Bold is catching my attention for many other reasons.

First is a full 2D experience. I grew up first playing Batman games on my Sega Genesis years ago, and this game is looking extremely smooth and fluent with beautiful 2-D graphics. Another reason is also the co-op play. Of course Robin is in, but also playable is Green Lantern, Hawkman and Blue Beetle with assists from drop‐in heroes such as The Flash and Aquaman.

Features are set to include:

  • Team Focused Superhero Gameplay: Play along with family and friends in two‐player co‐op mode as Batman or one of his powerful allies including Robin, and call in the help of drop‐in heroes such as The Flash.
  • Play the Show: Experience a true interactive adaptation of the cartoon classic with feature‐quality character animation, many of the same VO cast as the show, and all the same great writing, humour, and action!
  • Cool Gadgets and Unlockables: Use Batman’s iconic gadgets including his Batarang, Jet Booster, belt sword and more to complete missions. Unlock and upgrade new gadgets and team up with new heroes as you fight your way to justice.
  • Journey to Foreign Lands: Battle through four unique environments including Gotham City, London, Science Island and Planet Oa.
  • Fight Dastardly Villains: Just like the show, kick off each game episode mid‐battle, followed by epic boss encounters with villains such as Catwoman, Gorilla Grodd and Gentleman Ghost.
  • Wii/Nintendo DS Interconnectivity: Link the Nintendo DS version to the Wii version to unlock Bat‐Mite as a playable character that can be controlled with the Nintendo DS. Be helpful or mischievous while fighting alongside the heroes.
  • If you are a hardcore batman fan or just a fan of arcade style beat-em-up games you now have a reason to check out a fresh new title on both Nintendo platforms. WayForward and WB Game’s  Batman: The Brave and the Bold hits shelves in September of this year. Check out the trailer below and be sure to check out the greatness that is Aquaman at the end of the clip FOR THE ENTIRE OCEAN IS MY ARMY!!!!!!!

Yen press picks up the rights to Highschool of the Dead manga

Yen Press, an American Manga publishing company which translates Manga from Japanese to English professionally, has announced at Comic Con that they picked up the latest hit Highschool of the Dead. The Manga itself has suffered some hiatuses due to author and artist problems over it’s own monthly run but it does garner a very large following in Japan.

One bit of sad news is, that Yen Press has fallen under hard times in stores and retail, and has turned into digital distribution. This is good in another way however, as you can now sign up on their website for Yen Plus, which is currently free until August 9th. After that, you can continue your service with them for $2.99 a month which is not bad for a monthly issue of Manga stories. The service will be providing a new issue the first Tuesday of every month, and keep the two latest issues up until the next issue has been released.

New Warhammer 40k game will be getting a PC release as well

Fans of the table top advanced war game Warhammer 40k have probably already been excited enough to hear that their favorite game will be coming to the PS3 and the Xbox 360 sometime in early 2011. But what about those that prefer PC gaming? They should rejoice as well because today THQ has announced that Warhammer: 40,000: Space Marine will be available on the PC as well as the before mentioned consoles.

Travis Plane, the Vice President of Global Brand Management is quoted to say:

“Delivering great content the fans want to play is the key goal in the core games division at THQ so we are pulling out all of the stops to make this the best possible game for PC and console audiences alike.”

Then again it will be quite an interesting experience in my opinion, as THQ is developing the 3rd person shooter which will place the player behind the eyes of a Space Marine. A soldier that has been genetically modified and conditioned for years to create a superhuman fighting soldier. This is entirely necessary due to one of the industrial “Forge Worlds” has suffered attacks from devastatinly powerful Ork soldiers. Not too much is known beyond this point but fans of Warhammer 40k should be ecstatic.

Do We Need More Slammin’ Proof?!

I apologize for the cheesy title.

A few weeks ago, the German ratings board posted ratings for NBA Jam, which has been thought to be a Wii Exclusive, for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

This sparked hopeful rumors that the 1993 classic would be making its way to other platforms.

While no official word has been given by EA, today America’s Entertainment Software Rating Board also listed NBA Jam for the 360 and PS3. It has since been taken down.

Oddly enough, the Wii was not inlcuded.

Personally, as long as it releases (I don’t care WHICH platform) I’ll be happy. I just really need to relive my glorious days as a 5 year old playing virtual hoops.
