Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 gets a demo October 12th

Star Wars fans eager to jump back into the shoes of Starkiller can sate their appetite slightly when the demo releases next week. LucasArts has told us that the demo for The Force Unleashed 2 will be released on October 12th for the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

The demo will place Starkiller on the planet of Kamino and his escape from Darth Vader, tearing apart his enemies with his new dual lightsabers. There was also a bit of the story released, as this Starkiller happens to be a clone of our hero from the first game. The reason for his rebellion is that his memories have started to return and memories of a woman are haunting his mind. Expect to see the force unleashed all over the XLBM and PSN next Tuesday.

Campaign Matchmaking and new Halo: Reach playlists soon

Tired of playing Team Swat for the thousandth time in a row?  Well don’t worry any longer because thankfully Bungie has heard people’s complaints and is doing a complete overhaul of Halo: Reach’s playlists and their multiplayer component.  There are adjustments to a few maps and game modes themselves, and even a complete restructuring of the betrayel system. This may mean that when you blow your teammate’s head off with a rocket during Rocketfight, you might not be kicked right away.

Beyond those adjustments, Bungie announced that they will be making a Campaign Matchmaking to make it easier to play through Campaign with a bunch of people. Expect the patch for this mode sometimbe between October 12th and October 19th.

Silent Hill 8 gets a few more details

True horror fans rejoice, the Silent Hill series may be returning to it’s roots. In a sit down interview with Czech gaming site Doupe, Silent Hill 8’s lead designer Mark Berka stated that the game is being designed with Silent Hill 2 in mind. Silent Hill 2 has been heralded as the best of the Silent Hill franchise, while the previous iterations of the game may have been more action packed, but overall didn’t feel like your standard survival horror game.

Another tidbit is that there will be no influence from the Silent Hill movie on the game itself. Instead, the developing team has enlisted the help from key members of the series though who they were was not stated. But being as Silent Hill 8 will be modeled after the second game, the best conclusion to come to can be those that also worked on that game.

With few games taking a chance at survival horror, Silent Hill 8 will take a different twist on the horror aspect. Instead it will follow escaped convict Murphy Pendleton’s journey through Silent Hill. Rather than having military experience like Silent Hill: Homecoming, Murphy has a deep background and depth to his character which will create psychological issues throughout his journey.

No news on a release date though from the interview, but it is great news to hear that the series is returning to it’s horror filled roots.

Captain America: Super Soldier announced by Sega

Sega has confirmed today that they are working on Captain America: Super Solider that is due in 2011 along with the feature film that is due for release next year. Marvel has also partnered with Sega for their Thor adaptation, so it is no surprise that they went with Sega again for Captain America. The developing team is Next Level Games, famous for Punch Out!! And Spider Man: Friend or Foe. Not only will the movie be hitting the silver screen, the game will be playable for practically every system; the PS3, 360, Wii, PSP, and DS.

The storyline for the game will be written by Christos Gage and will take place within the same world that the movie does. Christos Gage wrote Marvel’s Avenger: The Initiative, Civil War: House of M, and many other different titles so expect a true to comic book fashion storyline.

The game itself is planned on being a third person action game during World War II. During the war Captain America will be doing battle against Red Skull within a castle that has been converted into a Hydra Base. According to Sega the game will have “highly athletic combat system with fluid platforming and a highly tuned suite of shield attacks taking out multiple enemies at once, deflecting incoming fire back at enemies, solving puzzles, and scaling walls.”

Fist of the North Star more brutal in America

With the move across seas, Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage has been able to receive an upgrade in the violence department. There are also a couple other features besides extra blood however, as the updated version has English/Japanese voice acting, different enemies to fight in a level, better bike controls, and even a new stage to play.

Thankfully though Tecmo Koei isn’t forgetting it’s roots and is also releasing an International edition in Japan which will include all the different additions the game is receiving overseas. Releasing November 2nd expect to see tons more gore from the various screenshots we’ve already seen, because those are primarily from the Japanese release and as we now know, it has been stepped up for the American version. Exploding bodies will be everywhere….

GotY edition Borderlands to come with access to Duke Nukem Forever demo

Anxious to be the first person to play the demo of Duke Nukem Forever? Especially now that the game has finally seen the light of day and is confirmed for a release in 2011? Well if you happen to be a fan of Borderlands then now is the time for you to get double the fun with the Game of the Year edition coming out on October 12th.

This is because Gearbox is hoping to include membership to something they call the First Access Club. This club will allow those who join to be the first to download the demo to Duke Nukem Forever before it is available to everyone else. There is no date for the demo’s release, but just know that if you happen to get Borderlands, you will eventually also be getting the demo.

Beyond the Duke Nukem Forever Demo, the First Access Club will supposedly provide members with many different bonus features, though these were not announced. One can speculate special themes, videos, screenshots, and who knows what else.

Borderlands: Game of the Year edition will cost $60 USD and will include all four of the DLC packs that have been released for the game, these include Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxie’s Underdome Riot, Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution.
