Transformers: War for Cybertron DLC on it’s way!

HighMoon Studios and Activision cooked up something real good for Transformer fans. Today, during Comic-Con, they announced their next DLC pack for Transformers: War for Cybertron. The DLC will be aimed at the multiplayer side of the game, bringing us 5 new playable characters and 4 new maps. The characters were previously available only if you pre-ordered the game: Scattershot, Onslaught, Shockwave, Demolisher, and Jazz.

The DLC features 2 new maps for Escalation mode (District and Foresaken) and also 2 for multiplayer levels (Havok and Fortress).

Coming next week on July 27th!

Let the images and trailer speak for themselves:

Okamiden Debuts New Trailer at Comic-Con

Okamiden was announced at E3 last month and fans of the series can now check out the trailer that was shown at Comic-con this week. By the looks of it, the game will stick to the same art style that caught gamers attention with the first Okami on the Playstation 2 and the Nintendo Wii.

Players will again take control of the Celestial Brush, freezing time to help the young Chibiterasu defeat enemies and solve puzzles. The game is also featuring pressure sensitive controls, meaning the harder you press on the DS screen the more bold your lines will be. I am extremely happy to see that the unique style of the first title is in full effect and looking beautiful as ever on the Nintendo DS.

Without further ado, take a look at the stunning new trailer below. If you don’t yet have Okami, it is at a great price right now and should be tried by all gamers with a love of art and platformers. So you can check out the latest version from our Amazon Store. Check back with Capsule Computers as we bring more information as it comes for Okamiden for the Nintendo DS.

Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC announced for Mass Effect 2

I believe that Mass Effect 2 needs no introduction, right? So i’ll get straight to the point…

Mass Effect 2 and RPG fans all over! Bioware has just announced their next piece of DLC for Mass Effect 2, entitled “Lair of the Shadow Broker”. After the first DLC, “Stolen Memory” (which was kind of short), Bioware learned it’s lesson and gave us “Overlord”, an exceptional DLC.

In “Lair of the Shadow Broker“, Captain Shepard will be joining ex-teammate (and probably lover, for some of you) Liara T’Soni. You will have to confront (at last!) the mysterious Shadow Broker…you remember him, right?

I wonder what Bioware will give us next, because, according to the official page, there are two more ‘classified’ squad mates left to be uncovered. Liara T’Soni will most likely be one of them, so that leaves is with 1 more…we’ll find out soon enough, i guess…

No release date has been set though, but take a look at these amazing screenshots:

Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar Goes Gold!

Natsume can now take a bow before the show. The soon to be released Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar has now went gold. Success is nothing new for the popular farming sim though, as the series has created well over 20 titles across 9 different platforms. With the recent interest in farming simulators in the gaming world, it is very easy to see as why the much loved series fans are hyped for the newest entry.

“Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar is one of the best Harvest Moon games yet,” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume. “It’s got a ton of exciting new features including the ability to run your own shop, and a multiplayer mode the lets you invite friends to your farm! It also has a great story with an all-new cast of colorful characters!”

Features Include:

  • Invite friends to your farm in multiplayer mode!
  • Run your own shop! Choose what to sell, attract customers, and get top dollar for your goods!
  • Show off your skills in fun festivals like the horse race and snowboard competition!
  • Choose to play as a boy or as a girl!
  • Find love, get married, and start a family!

Zeypher’s Town bazaar, a once popular town is in shambles, it is up to the player to turn it around. Players must farm, craft rare delicacies and sell items in the town shop to turn the economy around. If you can bring prosperity back to the town, it’s bazaar will thrive once again, enabling the player to expand their farm even more.

Nintendo DS owners will be able to start their own farms on August 17th. Also, if you pre-order at GameStop, you will be able to take home a horse! Well, a limited edition plush horse anyway. For more information head to www.natsume.com.

“Ultimate” dimension revealed for Spider-man

Activision has revealed the 4th and last dimension for their upcoming game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

After exploring The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Man 2099 dimensions, it’s time to take a look at the 4th and last dimension: Ultimate Spider-Man.

For those of you who don’t know, Ultimate Spider-Man is set in the Marvel Comic Ultimate universe, giving Spider-Man a modern touch. By the looks of it, we’ll be playing in the Black Symbiote suit, and with it’s help, gain abilities such as summoning spikes from the ground, shooting web-spikey things out of your chest and other cool super-hero stuff. All of these in a colorful cel-shaded graphic style.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions will be out September 7th on Xbox360, PS3, Nintendo DS and Wii.

Fable 3 – new screenshots fresh outta’ Comic-Con

You’ll see lots of news these days, with Comic-Con officially opening it’s gates.

To get ahead of everybody else, and probably not to be overlooked in the following storm which will unleash info and screenshots about every game at Comic-Con, Microsoft and Lionhead Studios released 4 new screenshots from their upcoming game, Fable III.

If you’ve been a fan of the Fable series (like i am…BIG one), it seems like we’re in for a treat, once again. Originality has been Molyneux’s greatest asset in his games, and by the looks of it, Fable III will not lack any of the attributes that made the last games so great.

We’ll be wandering throughout Albion once more on October 26th (US) and October 29th (Europe), exclusively on Xbox360 and PC.

Mafia 2 Demo, info and release date

If you’ve been waiting for 2K Czech’s mob game Mafia II, you already knew that a demo was in the works, although no release date was announced. Well, the beans have been spilled by a print advert of Mafia II in the latest issue of MCV.

The demo will be out August 10th on both Xbox LIVE and PSN, following shortly with the full release on 24th (US) and 27th (Europe) August.

According to Alex Cox and Jarek Kolar from 2K, we will be playing the demo as Vito and our goal will be assaulting a distillery in order to get the Fat Man.

Thrilled, excited, can’t wait for it? Let’s not forget the game has been in developement for a long time now (maybe not as long as Alan Wake…but hey!) and fans are getting more eager with each passing day. Don’t let us down, 2K! It’s just a little bit left…

flOw + Starcraft 2 = Epic

I first picked up thatgamecompany’s flOw when going on a vacation last year (or was it two years ago?). Honestly, i didn’t even know what was about, and didn’t expect much…just a casual fun game. But let me tell you…it’s genius. Those of you who played already know that. The way the music and graphics fit so well with the atmosphere and that simplistic, yet awesome, gameplay, made flOw one of my favorite games out there.

It seems i’m not the only one thinking this way, because flOw has been recreated as a Starcraft 2 MOD. Combining the powerful engine of Starcraft 2 with the awesome gameplay of flOw was pure genius, and what’s even better, is that you’re playing as a Zerg. =)

This MOD is proof that Starcraft 2 modding will go a looong way and wel’ll just have to wait and see what else the modding community has in mind. Keep ’em coming!

Live Performance of “Far Away” by Jose Gonzalez from the Red Dead Redemption Soundtrack

Ok now, anyone who’s played Red Dead Redemption as far as crossing into Mexico will be very familiar with this track. I personally think Jose Gonzalez performs this very well. Have a listen and let us know what you think of it.

AND if you haven’t already picked up Red Dead Redemption yet .. PLEASE DO SO NOW !! It’s one of the best games this year !! Check out our review of it here.

Story
Things on Wheels™ (ToW) is a fun and fast remote-controlled car racing game playable in single or multiplayer (with up to four players)! Drive miniature racers with various features–the agile Vintages, the powerful Muscles or the fast Sports cars–and compete in dozens of crazy races. The tracks are completely insane, loaded with shortcuts, ramps, loops and other surprises. Count on a lot of items to pick up to spice up the races even more and upset the final rankings!” [Xbox.com]

Things on Wheels is a kart racing game. You control RC cars through tracks that are designed around a giant house. The story is based around a series of in game blog posts that you unlock as you progress through the game. The basic story is about a kid who is racing in the grand prix, and a female character that creates emotional tension within the story. The story is poorly implemented, and I highly doubt anyone has actually read through every single one of the blog posts.

Gameplay
Things on Wheels is a tightly packaged kart racing game. There are a multitude of tracks a few scattered racing modes and a handful of powerups. While the combination is nice, the driving physics and the extremely easy AI ruin the overall fun of the game.

Tracks are all based around one giant house. You will travel all around the house and the backyard as well.  When you start a race, the track will be laid out in front of you and you will race a bunch of AI or try beating a certain time on a time trial. Luckily if you just feel like driving around aimlessly there is a sandbox mode for that specific purpose. Sandbox mode lets you explore the entire house without worrying about racing anyone, or staying in designated tracks. Sandbox mode is actually quite nice, and is a neat addition to this kart racer.

There are a few different racing modes ranging from time trials, elimination, team, and normal races. Time trials, elimination, and normal races are pretty self explanatory for anyone who plays racing games. Team racing is a little different in this game. Rather than getting a cumulative placement score based on everyone’s position in the race, this game gives the win to whichever team gets one of their members across the finish line first.

There are only a few powerups in this game, and sadly they only target people in front of you. There are powerups that impair your opponents and then powerups that aid you. Lighting and Ice impair your opponents by slowing them down. Shield puts up a barrier while also pushing everyone and everything away from you. Boost gives you a speed boost and cancels out the lightning’s slow down. While the powerups are nice, there isn’t much strategy to them. The computers and players just pick them up and use them instantly since there is no aiming needed.

Audio & Graphics
At first the soundtrack is catchy, but it quickly becomes annoying as you hear the same songs over and over again. The cars are muffled and sound odd as RC cars, it is almost like the developers wanted to make the RC cars sound realistic but stopped too soon. The most annoying sound is the honking. It’s like nails on a chalkboard whenever one of the CPUs decide to honk at you, I don’t know what the developers were thinking with that one.

The graphics in Things on Wheels aren’t that good. There are a bunch of cars, and you can customize the color but that is as far as customization goes. The house is design in art décor which doesn’t look like a normal house. Add to the fact that certain things aren’t proportional and you get a weird mixture of areas and items filling those areas.

Achievements
The achievements in Things on Wheels are pretty varied. There is that one freebie achievement for just finishing a race, and then ToW Champ and ToW Day for beating the game. The rest require you to do miscellaneous tasks throughout the game which aren’t really that hard. The hardest by far is ToW star and that is only because driving fast and without crashing into anything isn’t easy in this game. The rest can be achieved pretty easily, and makes this game a good 160g without much hassle.

The Achievement List Is:

  • ToW Go5 Finish any race, any place, any rule. Yep, pretty much a given achievement!
  • ToW Champ15 You must win the last race of the Citrus Cup.
  • ToW Day10 Read the last page of the blog.
  • ToW Tunes15 Run into the jukebox to turn it on in ‘Get first or die trying’.
  • Mad Crash15 Find the Mad Tracks car in ‘World of Wheels’ and ram it.
  • ToW fall15 Race ‘Shake your body’, drive in the bidet and finish the race.
  • ToW Hero20 Race ‘Wheel master’ (3 laps) and win against 5 hard AI 4 times consecutively. Race rule!
  • ToW Star40 Beat 58 seconds on one single lap of ‘Gran ToWrismo’. Solo race rules!
  • ToW off20 Rank in the top 10 of any ‘against the clock’ leaderboard.
  • ToW Gether10 Play a co-op race with a human player online or split screen.
  • ToW Less20 Win race ‘RosWheel’ without picking up any bonus.
  • ToW for life15 Complete 50 races lifetime.

Overview
Overall the game is a little racing game that is decent for little kids. They can explore the house in sandbox mode, or race really easy AI in the main game. There are many modes and quite a few tracks built around the house for them to play in as well. Sadly the physics, graphics and the dead community makes this racing game less desirable. Add on the fact that the entire game took me less than 2 hours to beat and a story that consists of a whole bunch of in game blog posts, we come out with a pretty small game. The game is cheap and is a nice little package for what it has to offer, but overall it isn’t that good.
