New Two Worlds II trailer shows tons of gameplay footage

There’s a brand new trailer for Two Worlds II rolling out from SouthPeak today and it is both a treat for the eyes and the ears. Accompanied with a great voice over, we see the world of Antaloor in a new light as combat and the world is exhibited to us extensively. We see primarily the mage and fighter classes in combat, but there is also a small glimpse of rogue style assassinations. Expect to see Two Worlds II on shelves October 5th and I must say that it is looking 100x better than what many people may initially think.

Build your own Chibiterasu papercraft

Artistic types will definitely want to pay attention to this. You can now make your very own Chibiterasu papercraft! The wolf cub with a god inside of him is your playable character in the upcoming Ōkamiden for the DS, and it features artistry as a major part of the game. You may not have the option to play the game yet, but you will have the option to create your very own paper Chibiterasu.

Click on this link to find the template necessary to create Chibiterasu. There are no instructions so you are left to figure it out yourself, but I can guarantee that anyone who makes this will definitely have a prized creation to go along with their wolf cub love and their Ōkami fandom. Anyone willing to take up the challenge?

Play Bomberman Live with the Hudson Staff!

Some game companies really go that extra mile to break the fourth wall and really get to know the players that enjoy their products. What I am saying is Hudson will be hosting a tournament for the title this Friday July 30th, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Pacific Time (US).

Here is the official announcement from the Hudson forums:

Okay so here’s how things are going to go. Because there are probably going to be more people interested in playing than the 8 player limit for Bomberman LIVE, we’ll organize things outside of Xbox LIVE using a forum thread as well as a chatroom. At the start time you can enter the chatroom/thread and I’ll be waiting. State your gamertag and I’ll invite you using the gamertag we’ll be using, still not determined, and we can play together. The chatroom/forum can also serve as a way to contact us outside of the Xbox Live if you have any questions or technical difficulties in joining.

I’m thinking to do 4 player matches (so 1 staff plus 3 other players) to start or at most 5 players unless the majority opinion is to just accomodate as many people as possible and do an 8 player match. I know a lot of expert players dislike too many players in one match though. The order in which players will be invited into the game session will be first come/first serve depending on replies in the chatroom or forum. Winners will stay in, as well as myself the Hudson staff playing and the others will rotate in and out. If players wish to spectate we can always play 8 player games and just have people eliminate themselves at the beginning of the match who aren’t officially in the selected group.

We’ll also determine the match settings in the chatroom prior to beginning the match and subsequent matches will probably be a combo of winner getting to choose and us at Hudson picking a match type. However, in all cases it will probably be 3 wins to win a match. Rest assured we will incorporate some Bombing Run matches with limited items for a truly pro level competitive match at least some of the time. Please don’t cheat or glitch or anything like that as we will be monitoring the events and this just supposed to be a fun time for all. Although we probably won’t be adopting a strict tournament format for this Friday, unless it’s overwhelmingly demanded, it’s something we want to incorporate in the future perhaps as early as next week.

We’ll try to play for around an hour although the time is a bit flexible. Unfortunately we can’t spend all our workday playing games here at Hudson and there is real business we’ll have to be handling.

Inviting yourself to the chatroom is possible with the AIM client directly, AIM through meebo, and AIM through Pidgin. Those are ones I’ve tested it with so far.

How many zombies spoil the fun?

Zombies were plentiful in the first Dead Rising game, especially when it came to the underground tunnels. But how many zombies could the new upcoming Dead Rising 2 hold at a time? Well in an interview with GamaSutra, Capcom’s Shin Ohara has a bit to say on that point. From what he has said it won’t be the 360’s or the PS3’s technological capability that is going to limit the number of the zombies on screen at once. It will be the factor that the game won’t be fun at all if there were simply rooms full of zombies with like no where to move.

Excerpts of the interview can be seen below from Ohara:

“Last year at Captivate we did a demo. We had a strip — It was probably like 10 meters wide and 200 meters long. We filled it with about 7,000 zombies. After about 3,000, you can’t really tell the difference because it fills up the screen anyway. Over 3,000, it ruins the experience. It’s not a game anymore.”

“We can show about 7,000 zombies if we wanted to, our technology is not limiting us. If the game only shows about 500 zombies or 1,000 zombies, that’s not the game’s limit. We have just enough so that people have fun with the zombies and the gameplay is rewarding.

“We want people to use a lot of weapons, and they need to be able to move around to use it against zombies. Traversing the space shouldn’t be a pain, but it needs to be a challenge as well. We didn’t want to fill a room out of zombies where you had to wiggle your way out.

“Rather, you can jump over them, kick them, or go around them. There are many ways that you can deal with the zombies.”

Not sure about you but seeing 7,000 zombies on a screen at once would definitely put me off going down that path if I had a choice, but it would definitely be interesting to see this factor into a certain mission or some sort of survival mode where you must face down thousands of zombies at once.

Unofficial Gears of War 3 Trailer shows what fans can do

Before you read any of this take a look below and watch the trailer……..

Done? Well this trailer is not made by Epic Games at all, but by the fans of the series. It is made between those known as the Duo Group, Kootra, Treadmaster Media, and Sound Wizardry. These four groups joined together create this trailer all on their own. They used various character models and pre-existing art to develop the video itself which means they pretty much created it entirely from scratch!

Put that together with the epic song choice of Johnny Cash’s rendition of Nine Inch Nails’ Hurt and you can’t help but love it. Not even that alone but they synced it up expertly with what you are seeing. Even the phrase at the end, Together till the End shows the gears mentality. This is probably a more exciting trailer than one I have seen yet for Gears of War 3, what do you think?

3DS price and release date will be told on September 29th

Hmmm so time goes by, E3 is months gone now. Whatever happened to the 3DS? How much will it cost and how long until we can get it in our eagerly waiting hands? Well this tad bit of news will at least tell us when we can expect to find out, but not much more.

Nintendo has told Bloomberg Japan that they will not be releasing a single peep of information about those two burning questiosn until September 29th. They definitely are getting a kick out of taunting us with this info, but for the most part a lot of predictions are placing their newest hand held at a price tag of $250 American. Will this be right? Or will we be pleasantly surprised/horrified when the announcement does come out.

Gray Matter Preview

Game Name: Gray Matter

Platforms: PC and XBOX 360

Publishers: dtp entertainment

Developers: WizarBox

Genre: Adventure

Release Date: October 29th 2010

It seems point and click adventure games are enjoying a successful run at the moment and this October brings a real Halloween treat when Gray Matter finally debuts on both the PC and Xbox360.

Originally announced in 2003, Gray Matter reunites the acclaimed husband and wife team behind the 1990’s Gabriel Knight series, writer Jane Jensen and composer Robert Holmes, for a supernatural based scare-fest set to spook and delight adventure fans of the in equal measure!

Since losing his wife in a terrible accident Dr David Styles has become a virtual recluse rarely leaving his English manor home, the aptly named Dread Hill House. It seems Dr Styles has gained quite a reputation for his neurological experimentations on the human mind and is now on the lookout for a new research assistant. Enter Samantha Everett, an Oxford University student and part-time street performer with a keen interest in magic and trickery. With a perpetual lack of cash and an interest in the macabre Sam land the job as the mask wearing Doctor’s new assistant and is immediately asked to track down six volunteers at Oxford to take part in one of his experiments. Everything seems innocent enough, well as innocent as one might imagine working for the 2010 version of the Phantom of the Opera in a creepy English manor house, until inevitably it all goes wrong and mysterious and unexplained events begin to occur.

As Styles spirals further into madness haunted by visions of his beloved dead wife it is up to you, alternating between both Sam and Dr Styles, to solve the mysteries surrounding Dread Hill House!

As a fan of all things spooky and adventure games I am really excited about what might well turn out to be the spookiest adventure of the year. Although still some months away from it’s release it would appear that Gray Matter has a plethora of fascinating characters and a superior plot courtesy of Jane Jensen with enough twists and turns to keep buyers engaged over the Halloween holidays.

Barring any mysterious delays or unforeseen circumstances, fans of the Gabriel Knight series, would be adventurers and ghost hunters can get to grips with Gray Matter, developed by WizarBox and published by dtp entertainment, in October 2010.

Vanquish gets an Automatic Casual mode

Casual players will have it extremely easy if they wish to play Platinum Games’ Vanquish coming on October 19th. That is because they have announced that there will be the difficulty known as “Casual Auto” selectable for a difficulty within the game. Think of it as being something similar to what you experienced in Bayonetta’s Easy Auto mode.

Shinji Mikami the director of the game was quoted saying on the mode:

“Before we started work on it, I can’t say that I had high hopes; however, once we got it up and running, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was wrong,”

“Once you get your target on the enemy, the rest is easy as pie. I’m sure saying it that way makes it sound totally uninteresting, but when you actually give it a shot, the tempo it gives the game play will make you jump up and say, ‘Woohoo!’”

Mikami had even more to say about the also announced God Hard mode:

“This mode is only for the chosen few (you can’t select it on your first play through). If you are a bit of a masochist, I think you will have a good time. It is something for our fans to look forward to.”

It’s good to see that Platinum Games is extending their hand out to the more casual player that won’t be able to handle such heavy twitch shooting mechanics and allow them to enjoy themselves, while not forgetting about the hardcore players at the same time and giving them a nice punishing difficulty to go through.

Mystery Tales Time Travel Comes to the DS…

One thing that isn’t a mystery is how successful crime solving and mystery games have been on the Nintendo DS. Professor Layton, Hotel Dusk, and many other titles have provided hours of gameplay for many fans of the genre. Now one more will be added to the mix with O-Game’s newest title Mystery Tales Time Travel.

Mystery Tales puts players on the trail of a French writer who has stumbled upon an old diary of a long lost relative. Along the way players will have to solve puzzles and riddles to gather clues while trying to solve the mystery while exploring some of the world’s most exotic places.

Features are set to Include:

  • With various story modes to choose from, players can search for the Hidden Objects before time runs out, locate the Hotspots, and complete Logic and Reverse levels in specific order
  • Mini-games challenge players to exercise their mind with Memory and Decryption games
  • Use Magic Spells to travel through time, Dimension Gates to enter new worlds, and Spirit Sights invoked by the witch
  • Mystery Tales takes you to 30 unique locations across the world in China, Italy, France and Egypt
  • Train your brain with memory games, puzzle games, and interesting drawings
  • Search for over 1,000 Hidden Objects
  • Five years ago I would have never thought I would be so hooked by a genre which is why I am pumped to see another new mystery game on the Nintendo DS. Magic Spells, time travelling, and many puzzles to solve all in the same game sounds great. Mystery fans can get their newest fix when Mystery Tales Time Travel releases in September of this year.

Conduit 2 Gets Offical Cover Art

Announced at E3 this year, High Voltage and Sega’s Conduit 2 had some nice box-art released. Based on the art, it looks as if the main feature that will be the centerpiece of the new game is the much hyped multi-player mode which allows up to 12 people to go at it over the Nintendo Wii’s Wi-Fi mode. The game also promised to use Wii Speak and make full use of the Wii Motion Plus for even sharper and more precise controls.

Building upon the success of the original, Conduit 2 takes players to the far reaches of the world to stop an alien invasion which can be fought in single-player, online multi-player battles, and all-new off and online co-op modes. Armed with advanced and powerful weapons, players can expect massive action in large, multi-tiered levels featuring dynamic environments, cinematic battles, giant adversaries, and deep customisation features.

Conduit 2 introduces Team Invasion Mode, the new co-op mode where players will be able to battle side-by-side with up to four friends on the same screen. Additionally Team Invasion Mode can be played online.

Shooting fans will get to try the sequel to one of the most loved new franchises on the Wii when it is released Fall of 2010. Check out the Boxart and tell us what you think about it in the comments below.
