As you may well have noticed if you are the proud owner of a PS3, the Playstation Network is currently offline. Not to worry though, because this is on Sony’s part due to scheduled maintenence of the service. There’s no need to worry, as if all goes to plan, the service should be back up later today around 5.00pm (PDT). During this downtime, users will not be able to access the PSN store, Playstation Home, or Account Management. Sony also warns that people may experince difficulties signing in.
The maintenance will apply to users in the following countries: USA, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, and New Zealand. According to Sony’s European PlayStation Blog, users can sign in to PSN before the maintenance begins at 16:00 (BST) on September 21, 2010. You should still be able to collect trophies during the maintenance, but your profile will not be updated until it is complete.
I recently sat down with Producer Product Development at Capcom : Rey Jimenez at Tokyo Game Show. Rey walked us through the upcoming sequel Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. If any of you had played the original Bionic Command Rearmed on either Xbox Live Arcade or PSN you will instantly see a huge difference graphically as well as many new features and updates to this fantastic sequal that will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network very soon.
Everything you need to know is in the video interview as Rey runs us through a level and explains all the new weapons along with offensive and defensive components which are new to the game. You can now JUMP !! Yes thats right, not only can you use your trademark hook to grapple and swing around from ledge to ledge but you can now jump and climb to as well which will certainly come in handy.
We spoke to Rey after posting this interview as we also wanted to let everyone know about the new “Biovision” feature. When I saw this in the game I couldnt stop using it. It’s MEGA cool. Have a read on what Rey had to say about it.
We call it “Biovision”. Instead of the info database that was used in the first Rearmed game, we have it so that at any point in the game, you can press RT/R2 to go into Biovision mode. Using the Biovision, you can press A over an object to learn any details about it. It will come in handy when you’re up against any enemy or obstacle and don’t know how to get passed it. It will give you a clue on it’s weakness.
Enjoy the interview and screenshots below :

Soccer or “football” as many people out of the U.S. call is one of the most loved sports in the world and has always made its transition into the video game world nicely. I think one thing that makes the sport so popular among consoles is that it has always been an easy and fun sport to play on consoles dating back to Nintendo World Cut on the NES. Aksys Games have now released an easy to play version of their take on soccer to the DSiWare shop, the appropriately titled “Everyday Soccer”. Everyday Soccer is a fun and simple soccer game where players can fully customize their characters and compete in free play mode or the World Tournament. Players can control all four characters on the screen by passing, dashing, shooting and executing special attacks.
“Soccer is one of those fun sports that anyone can get into,” says Frank “Bo” deWindt II, Associate Producer, Aksys Games, “Adults and children alike can easily pick up and play Everyday Soccer for some fun soccer action!”
Features Include:
30+ Teams to Choose From!
Pick from over 30 different countries to play as, including Germany, Chile, South Africa, Japan and many more!
Customize Your Players!
Change your players’ names and their appearances from eyes color to hair style and use those players in the Exhibition and World Tournament!
Multi-play and DS Download Play!

Let me take you back to London 1889….. Where we walk the dark streets of London but beware Jack the Ripper is on the loose.
Actual Crimes: Jack The Ripper is a typical Hidden Object game which was originally called Real Crimes: Jack The Ripper on other platforms, But with a quick name change by the guys from Sanuk Games it has now been released to download on the PSN Network for a great price of £3.49. As the name implies this game is based on the Actual Crimes of Jack the Ripper but with fictionalized theories about the Rippers true Identify.
Description of the Game from the press Release:
During the dark autumn nights of 1888 the streets of London’s East End were terrorised by a string of horrific murders committed by a fiend who will forever be remembered as Jack the Ripper.
Between August 31st and November 9th Jack the Ripper brutally murdered 5 women on the streets of Whitechapel. Despite the best efforts of the Metropolitan Police and Inspector Frederick Abberline the killer was never found.
Overview of the game
I found with this game like most hidden object games, that the objects that need to be found had no major bearing on the level that you are playing and sometimes found it annoying when they asked you to find a certain objects. In one instance you have to look for a hat but there are two one is a man’s hat and the other is a lady hat and they never explain which hat you need to find and so you can easily be penalized if you choose the wrong one. One thing I love about this game is that occasionally between levels you get a random puzzle from spot the difference to one of those frustrating slide puzzles, but you can skip these if they get too stressful for you. Most Hidden object games have random puzzles nowadays which are an important part of the game-play keeps things fresh and not to repetitive.
The sound and background music really complements the game very well and it really draws you into what’s going on and makes the game more atmospheric. The game is around four hours long depending on if you skip the random puzzles and re-play value is good as the items you must find change and locations are not normally repeated. Also this game has five possible endings depending on which suspect you believe to be the ripper.
I have played a lot of these types of games and after a while once you have played one you tend to have played them all but this game is cheap and cheerful and I really enjoyed playing it on my PSP made a nice change to having a game based around true life events so I highly recommended this game for any avid hidden object gamer.
If you haven’t played Half-Life this trailer probably makes no sense to you, but it is still a nice video. Check it out below. Now if only this could be made into a full movie, it would be epic!
