Bulletstorm “Epic Edition” to include Gears of War 3 beta code

Feel like getting your chainsaw on early? Because EA announced today that there will be a special edition of the 360 version of Bulletstorm released alongside the standard edition. The good news is that the price for the so called Epic Edition will be the same price as the normal edition at $60. The even better news is that this Epic Edition will include an early access code to the Gears of War 3 beta.

On top of receiving the early access code you will also be getting a set of new armor and boots, something they are calling visual upgrades for the glowing leash, a new gun called the Peace Maker Carbine and also a cool 25,000 experience points free of charge. While there isn’t any news on when the beta for Gears of War 3 will start, Bulletstorm will be released on February 22nd of next year.

Knights Contract given release date in Febraury

Looks like we finally have a release date for Knights Contract next year and thankfully it is quite early in the year. It was just announced today that Namco Bandai and Game Republic’s hack and slash bloody buddy game will be released on February 22nd for the US and Europe on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

This is great news considering the fact that before this the only release window we had was some point in 2011. But enough about that, how about a little bit more information about the game instead?

Armed with a razor sharp scythe and explosive witchcraft, players will use these tools to return civility to the land. As players succeed in their journey, they can deal tremendous damage onto their tormentors or unleash a gruesome finisher by coordinating the efforts of Heinrich and Gretchen. However, players must also keep a close eye on Gretchen as her magical prowess and mortality is the key to the duo’s survival.

Sounds like it will be a good time, especially with the fact that it looks like a much more intense and fantastical world than the one we found in Enslaved which was previously released by Namco Bandai a few months ago. There was also a plethora of new screenshots released that show off two of the main enemies in the game, the witches Trude and Straeggele.

Record of Agarest War 2 patched with Move support; video released

You may remember that we mentioned the fact that Record of Agarest War 2 will be getting a patch in the future for Playstation Move support, but that future is now the present. Of course the game is currently only out in Japan, but Japanese audiences will be able to patch their games so that they will be able to use their move controllers for the interactive minigames.

[pro-player width=’530′ height=’253′ type=’video’]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZWu-WweCg8&[/pro-player]

As you can see Compile Heart has also released a video that shows off the minigame being performed inside of the game. Still it is a very questionable bit of gameplay as you more or less are using the Move controller to massage your female party members, and it looks like you are rewarded with experience points and items for doing well enough. Sure it may seem strange to us but after playing the first Record of Agarest War it definitely doesn’t seem out of place at all. Again could this beg the question for possible Kinect support if it is localized and made for the Xbox 360 as well? Only time can tell.

WiiWare/DSiWare releases for this week ending 17th December

3

Here is the latest downloadable line-up on Nintendo consoles as we near the festive period:

  • Ben 10: Alien Force – The Rise Of Hex (WiiWare: Konami, 1,000 Wii Points)
  • My Fireplace (WiiWare: Korner Entertainment, 500 Wii Points)
  • Wolf Of The Battlefield: Commando (Virtual Console Arcade: Capcom, 800 Wii Points)
  • SonSon (Virtual Console Arcade: Capcom, 800 Wii Points)
  • Divergent Shift (DSiWare: Konami, 800 Nintendo DSi Points)
  • 101 MiniGolf World (DSiWare: Teyon, 500 Nintendo DSi Points)
  • Arc Style: Everyday Football (DSiWare: Arc System Works, 500 Nintendo DSi Points)
  • Biorhythm (DSiWare: Cinemax, 200 Nintendo DSi Points)

It’s a fairly weigthy selection this week in comparison to previous weeks, with cartoon hero Ben 10 leading the charge. However, it is merely a taster of what is to come. There is, in fact, another Nintendo downloads update of new additions coming on Christmas Eve, with an even more exciting line-up including Hydroventure and Mario Party 2 for the Virtual Console.

GamersGate & Sega Giving out Golden Axe For Free!

3

One of the all time greats of Sega, Golden Axe is currently being given away this weekend as part of the 21st anniversary for the classic game. GamersGate have partnered up with Sega and will be distributing codes for the PC version of the title. Now I am sure you want to know what you need to do to get in on this steal and it is really quite simple.

First thing you need to do is become a fan of the official Sega Facebook (which you can find by clicking HERE)

Next, well… that’s it really. Sega will be giving out codes that will need to be redeemed within the first 24 hours of receiving, which you must be a registered user to redeem at GamersGate. It only takes a few seconds to register though, so I can easily say to jump on this freebie while it is…well, free. Golden Axe is a timeless classic and for those who have not even tried it yet, you now have no reason to get a chance to play one of gaming’s most beloved franchises. For more information, you can check out Sega’s official post over on their blog by clicking here.

Deathsmiles Deluxe Edition coming to PAL regions in 2011

Rising Star Games has just recently announced that bullet hell game, Deathsmiles will be officially coming to European and PAL markets. For those of you who have been waiting to hear this news, you will be glad to know that this version comes as a very special and exclusive Deluxe Edition. This Deluxe Edition features the complete version of the game, with the Mega Black Label DLC (which brings an extra stage and playable character), a desktop accessory pack and the original 23-track soundtrack.

Deathsmiles features three different modes:  the original Arcade version, an Xbox 360 conversion of the arcade version and Version 1.1 of the game. Version 1.1 is actually another conversion designed specifically for the Xbox 360 (for those of you that were interested).

Along with all of this, the game will include two-player co-op, both locally or via Xbox Live. All the modes will also have multiple difficulty levels. Supposedly all this extra stuff was sold separately in Japan and priced at about £25, so this bundle is quite a steal

For those of you in the PAL regions that have been waiting for the game, Deathsmiles is coming your way in early 2011.

KillZone 3 – Sharp Shooter Peripheral Trailer

The Sony blog has recently posted a video showing off the upcoming Sharp Shooter peripheral for Killzone 3. This gun incorporates the Plastation move to create a “realistic” first person shooter. The peripheral looks quite neat with its own trigger for shooting, and even a button to reload that makes reloading feel more realistic.

Check out the video below to see this peripheral and even some gameplay footage of KillZone 3.

Mindjack gets a couple of new trailers; shows off multiplayer entry

While Mindjack could have been seen as just another sci-fi shooter initially, it is trying to go above and beyond the call of duty (get it?) by creating an entirely new form of multiplayer that hasn’t been seen yet on any shooter. In Mindjack instead of searching for a lobby, you will simply enter into another players single player mode and can take over an enemy soldier to try and kill the original host. This looks like it could lead to many angry players if they are constantly killed in story mode by incoming players. Then again from the sound of it, there is also an option to close your game off from unwanted intruders.

[pro-player width=’530′ height=’253′ type=’video’]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MP9UsnKm9GU&feature=player_embedded[/pro-player]

Also revealed was a trailer that shows off different enemies that can be hacked into by other players. Sure enemies themselves are bad enough, but how tough will things be when other players can take over the minds of the enemy and take you down?

Inkub Coming to the WiiWare December 20th!

Some more news from our friends at Cosmonaut Games today as their new unique tower defense title Inkub will be making it’s debut on the WiiWare this Monday, December 20th in America. This release was announced a while back when the title first released on the iPad & iPod just a little bit earlier this year.

The objective of the Inkub is to defend an incubator containing a growing specimen. To do this, you will be provided with different weapons and powers that will help you destroy, pause, or block these enemies. These threats will try to enter the incubator through the Plasma tubes that connect it with the life-giving energy that makes them grow.

Cosmonaut is also adding in  a rotation system to improve the gameplay exclusively on the Wii Version. The player will need to shake the Wii Remote to rotate the scenario and get access to rear tubes adding a bit more strategy and giving the ability to control 2 different action perspectives at once.

Players will also have to always be on their toes as well due to the fast paced economic system within the game as you improve it quickly in order to get more energy and buy weapons and blockers faster.

The INKUB main features are:

  • 3 Difficulty Levels: 3 different difficulty levels have been prepared so that you can adjust the game to you ability.
  • Adventure Mode: 5 different Worlds, each of them containing 8 rounds. A total of 40 rounds full of action, enemies and danger where you must prove your defense skills.
  • Survival Mode: Beat the record in each one of the game worlds in this non-stop mode, where each wave is stronger than the previous one.
  • Scenario Rotation: With an innovative play system, use the Wii Remote™ to rotate the level perspectives and access the rear tubes.
  • Sniper: Discover special rounds where you must point and shoot the enemies.
  • Enemies: Up to 21 enemy feature variations available.
  • Weapons: Up to 24 variations in all of the weapons at your disposal.
  • Files: Review enemies and weapons in the game files. Learn more about each of the available weapons and the enemy features.
  • Unlocking system: Unlock weapons, enemies and play modes as you pass each one of the Adventure Mode rounds.
  • Complete soundtrack with 7 songs performed by El Topo Negro.
  • I have been keeping my eye on Inkub for a while as it looks interesting and for just 500 points, anyone who is looking for a fresh experience on the WiiWare should definitely check this one out. Be sure to check out the new trailer (which has some brilliant music as well as new gameplay footage) and screenshots below, and we will be bringing you a review of this hot new WiiWare title very soon.
