I mentioned Rango in the “This Week on the Xbox 360” post; and honestly, some of you might actually be interrested in it. I came across the trailer for the game and only felt it was fair to share it with everyone. Who knows, by seeing the trailer you might get second thoughts about the game and go out and buy it right away. Maybe your child may like this cute little game and you can give it to them as a present after you go see the movie.
Eager to see what twenty nine years of technological advancements can do to a game? Then take a look at the trailer below because Atari has just released a new video for Yars’ Revenge which shows off not only some new concept art but actual gameplay footage as well. Yars’ Revenge is a re-imagining of the 1981 game of the same name and has seen more than a few changes to the formula.
Yars’ Revenge will place players behind the wings of a female humanoid Yar that has suffered under the hands of the Qotile Empire. So much so that they turned her against her own people through brainwashing techniques. After recovering from the brainwashing she is more than eager to turn their own technology back on them sometime this Spring.
Oh, do you see that! I changed the name on you. Why? Because I have decided to share more than just what is coming out on XBLA this week. Why am I adding retail releases to the list as well, because I stumbled across them and decided to share them with you! Tell me I’m awesome!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls; Those of Both Genders! We hare at Capsule Computers have roughly 100 Beta keys to the upcoming MMORPG – FAXION – to give away over the next few days, weeks or period of time it takes to have them all dished out. They’ll be going out everywhere, Twitter, Facebook, and even on the main page.
To quote myself –
In Faxion Online players partake in an epic war between the forces of Heaven and the forces of Hell. The battles of this war take place within the Seven Deadly Zones, each named after a particular sin – Greed, Lust, Envy, Pride, Wrath, Gluttony and Sloth.Faxion online differs from the typical MMORPG in that players will be spending little to no time grinding and the majority of their time in persistent battles between players of the opposing faction. These battles, waged across the Seven Deadly Sins, typically shape the material world of beyond. The mechanics of this game hope to emphasize guild involvement and player co-operation to achieve a satisfactory victory over the opposing forces.
Yesterday we talked about the pre-order bonuses you can get depending on which store you happen to pre-order L.A. Noire from; such as The Naked City, A Slip of the Tongue, Badge Pursuit Challenge, as well as The Sharpshooter and Broderick detective suits. Unfortunately anyone who wants to get these pre-orders usually is forced to only get one of these specials. But not anymore.
Rockstar has released information that these bonuses will be released as DLC some time after the game’s release which is on May 17th in the US and May 20th elsewhere. They also revealed information about Red Dead Redemption’s pre-order bonsuses such as the Deadly Assassin Outfit, War Horse and Golden Guns pack being available for download soon as well. Better late than never I suppose.
Gameloft have recently announced some massive news. Gameloft have finalised a long-term, multi-platform licensing agreement with Epic Games, Inc. that enables Gameloft to incorporate Unreal Engine 3 in four new games, two of which to be released in 2011 and two in 2012. The third version of Epic Game’s Unreal Engine has been used in recent games such as Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War and Gears of War 2. With this in mind, it goes without saying that the collaboration of Gameloft and Epic Games will result in some really exciting products.
Gameloft’s vice president of production, Julien Fournials comments on the intergration of Unreal Engine 3, stating that, “using Unreal Engine 3 allows us to push game visuals with remarkable lighting and high-fidelity environments. We are confident that players will enjoy the games powered by Unreal Engine 3.”
With Gameloft’s prominence as a developer and publisher of both digital and online games, the prospect of collaborated works produced by Gameloft and Epic Games means big things for mobile gaming. “There is no doubt that the four games running on Unreal Engine 3 will be visually stunning and take advantage of the powerful mobile gaming devices,” said Mark Rein, vice president, Epic Games. “We are thrilled to provide our technology to Gameloft and look forward to a lasting collaboration.”
As a result of this recent collaboration, Gameloft plan to release games on multiple mobile and downloadable platforms, including iOS, Android, PlayStation®Network and set-top boxes, all of which sound packed with promise as we wait in antipation for more details.
THQ today has launched several dedicated multiplayer servers for the highly anticipated first person shooter Homefrontacross Australia as part of THQ and Kaos Studio’s global Multiplayer server support for the game. These servers as of today are live in anticipation for the game’s scheduled launch on March 17 in Australia. “THQ and Kaos are committed to providing dedicated multiplayer servers around the world for both console and PC versions of Homefront. Furthermore, the PC SKU will allow gamers to set up and host games on their own servers, a feature that has been slowly disappearing from the online space in recent years,” said Drew Como, Director of Infrastructure, THQ.
These dedicated servers will cover all multiplayer components across the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. For more information on Homefront’s multiplayer check out our Homefront Muilplayer Hands On Preview

With the release of 64th Street – A Detective Story set for mid-March 2011, developer and publisher of retro games, DotEmu, have kindly released some screen shots of the game as well as a video featuring some pretty awesome looking gameplay. Judging from the screen shots, 64th Street – A Detective Story looks as if it will bring back the arcade-style street-brawling we all miss (at least I do) from the days of Super Nintendo. This time however, thanks to DotEmu, we can take the brawling to the streets on our iOS devices. Be sure to check out the video and images to see what it’s like walking the beat on 64th Street.
Valve and steam have decided to be very secretive at the moment because they have just announced a new addition that will be called Big Picture mode. The reason that I say they are being secretive is the fact that all they did was announce that the mode will be created and provide a few small tidbits of information. There will be more details as GDC rolls on this week.
But as of now we only know that it will offer “controller support and navigation designed for television interaction and will enable gamers to enjoy Steam and their library of Steam games on more screens throughout the house.” What this means is that you may be able to play Steam games on your TV in the future, but exactly how and when is most likely what they will release later this week.
Fans of bullet hell games should be really happy with Aksys Games right now because they have put the finishing touches on BIT.Trip FLUX and have made it available everywhere so you can download it onto your Wii today as WiiWare. The overall cost of the finale to the BIT.TRIP series will run you 800 Wii Points or $8.
Players will be returning to play as CommanderVideo and will be able to play either on their own or with a friend in co-op mode. There will be new power ups this time around such as a full-screen paddle weapon, new beat types which includes Avoid beats. Also the game will be a bit easier this time around thanks to the inclusion of mid-level checkpoints.
