F.E.A.R. 3 – Sound design video

Ever wondered how they create and record the sound effects of games? I know I have, and the audio work of game is one of the most interesting aspects of game design in some cases. I remeber watching a video showing how smashing up fruit was used to create the sound effects needed for a particularly gorying, splattering bodies type of game.

This video for the audio of F.E.A.R. 3 shows how the team used a series of guns in a field to get the sounds needed for gunshots.  Josh Jones and Chris Hite of Day 1 Studios step outside the sound booth and on to the shooting range to capture authentic firearm sounds for a realistic and visceral shooter experience.

With the Harry Potter franchise reaching its epic conclusion in cinemas from today onwards, so too is the tie-in videogame available for purchase in all good retailers around the world in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Europe and North America. The explosive finale will feature all of the iconic moments and locations from the film of the same name which depicts the grown-up school-boy tracking down the last of the horcruxes before culminating in a stand-off between good and evil. It enables fans to step into Harry’s shoes as he faces off against Voldemort and his dark forces for the final time.

Who’s seeing the film and do you think you will be picking up the game as well? The game’s available now on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS and PC.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 both feature the likenesses and voice talent of Ryan Reynolds who reprises his role as Hal Jordan from the movie, but there as well as comments from Ryan Reynolds on Green Lantern as a whole, others chime in with their comments on the movie and game, both of which are out now.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is developed for Xbox 360 and PS3 by Double Helix Games, and for Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS by Griptonite Games.

Street Fighter X Tekken – The newest & latest character reveal

The game is Street Fighter X Tekken and the genre is fighting. The franchise character crossover is still blowing my mind. If the characters were real, would they be weirded out too?

Capcom has been teasing us with character reveal trailers for the game for quite some time.  Are you ready for the latest one?  First, why don’t you guess what you think the character is, and then you can tell us how wrong or right you were in the comments.  Plus, you’ll even get awesome commenting points for doing said action.

Hopefully, the game can continue the best of both series.

Bloodrayne Betrayal Dated for the Xbox Live Arcade & PSN!

Since being announced a bit earlier this year, news on an official date for Wayforward & Majesco’s Bloodrayne Betrayal has been a bit scarce aside from the “summer” launch window. Today however, the vampiress herself finally came forward via twitter and announced that the downloadable re-“vamp” will hit the PSN on August 30th and the Xbox Live Arcade a day later on August 31st.

As I have mentioned before, this title honestly has been my most anticipated game of the year, mainly due to it’s bloody fast art style and the name “Wayforward” attached to the project. We still do not have a price at the moment, but rest assured once we hear word on that or any new information on BloodRayne Betrayal, we will be sure to bring it to you as soon as it comes available. If you have a twitter, do yourself a favor and follow Rayne herself for further updates here.

Bethesda unleashes new Rage Arsenal trailer

Feel the passion in Bethesdas new trailer titled “Arsenal”,  as members of Team ID talk about what they know best, weapons, gadgets and general mayhem. Seriously i would not want to be the enemy of any army that had these guys working in their weapon division, so thank god for world safety that they have chosen game design as a profession rather than on some secret sub atomic thermonuclear project. Rage is a fast paced first person shooter, complete with manic vehicle combat, awe-inspiring environments and stunning graphics all made possible by ID 5 technology. With a storyline set in the not too distant future, an asteroid has destroyed the Earth, leaving the remaing humans to rebuild whilst alos having to protect themselves from a whole host of gangs, mutant and evil critters.

Team Id seem to have a heavy focus on providing the gamer with a unique experience, with one member stating the aim was to provide players with different weapons, gadgets and add-ons with each new level and environment. I had to chuckle out loud with the sheer delight on of the teams faces and in his voice when describing shotguns and watching heads explode. They describe a lot of the experience is in the reaction of the gun to pulling the trigger and the representation of the mayhem it causes on the other side. As well as the massive amount of varied weapons available there are some really cool additions such as the ability to build turrets. Other gadgets such as sentry bots and robots can be used by players to take on the hoards of enemies trying to dismember you. Throughout the video the main theme seems to be the abioity for players to choose their own destiny. All gadgets and items can be manipulated in different ways meaning no 2 players will progress through the game in the same manner. Love the Western music overtones. Enjoy the trailer everyone and keep an eye out for this one its going to be EPIC.

New Prototype 2 video shows us the Power of Tendrils…

The more we see of Prototype 2, the better it is looking every day. Today, Radical Entertainment released a new video that displays some of the powers Sgt. James Heller can use on his quest to destroy Alex Mercer, and some of these abilities turn the protagonist into what appears to be a hell bent Spider-man of sorts.

In the clip, we see Radical Entertainment explaining the Tendril ability as well as the several other techniques in Heller’s arsenal that let him destory foes in the sandbox enviroment. The Tendril powers can also create a giant web for Heller, allowing him to web up infected enemies and eventually rip them into pieces in one quick pop of gory greatness. While the video is still from a very early stage of the game, Prototype 2 is quickly becoming one of the most promising titles of 2012 due to all of these teases and it looks like there is quite a bit more to come. Check out the new clip for yourself below and be advised that this clip may not be for those with a weak stomach.

Cursed Crusade gets a release date, trailer and priced at $39.99

There hasn’t been a lot of information released for The Cursed Crusade yet, but it seems that Atlus has decided to let the game out of its sanctified basement because they released a whole slew of new information for the title. First of all the game will be priced at only $39.99 when it is released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

They also have revealed that release date as October 11th. You can read our impressions of the title back when we had a chance to get our hands on it during E3 here.

FFXIII-2’s screenshots show that Team Nora is still around

Square Enix released a new batch of screenshots for Final Fantasy XIII-2 today, and in them we see some familiar faces in the forms of some old members of Team Nora from FFXIII. Besides these familiar faces we also see two areas from the game itself, a settlement in Gran Pulse named New Bodhum and a town named Bresha.
