Marvel vs Capcom series to get “Fantastic News” at Comic-Con

Ryota Niitsuma has decided to tease fans of Marvel vs Capcom by announcing that they will be “fantastic news” for the Marvel vs Capcom series during Comic-Con next week. Comic-Con will take place in San Diego and although not many game announcements really come out of the event, there are usually always one or two interesting things revealed.

The panel that will contain this supposed “fantastic news” will take place on Saturday morning at 11 AM. Now Capcom has yet to announce anything for MvC3 or any other games in a long time. What do you think this news could be? Perhaps a new game announcement or maybe a port of the Marvel vs Capcom series onto the 3DS or for PS Vita? We’ll know more next Saturday.

Indiecity- Indie Developers Haven

I was reading about this and thought it was fantastic idea so i thought i would share it with you all. Indiecity is a PC portal setup by Blitz games specifically designed for indie developers to showcase their creativity and innovative gaming ideas. The only rule is no mainstream games are allowed on site. Anyone can upload a game or part of a game to Indiecity where the community review system will give valuable information back to the developer as well as rank it against everyone elses creations. The community are the ones who ultimately decide whether the game is deemed worthy of falling within the guidelines of the site.

Project lead Chris Swan has commented in an interview with Eurogamer that he is trying to create a destination where developers can go that shows off the creativity and diversity of what gaming can do. He goes on to have a jab at the current state of the market referring to todays market as full of recycled games that are far from pushing boundaries when it comes to innovation. Swan seems more intent on a niche based system that provides something for everyone, something that pushes conventional mainstream idealogy.

Developers have a lot of control over their IP, and are able to set their own prices. So with 1200 or so already on board this is looking very exciting, a bit like a breeding ground of unfound talent just waiting to burst onto the scene. Swan describes the site as the Wild West of Indie sites where pretty much anything goes. Developers have the control over how much of the game they upload, allowing them to get valuable commuity feedback before fine tuning their games or adding/deleting characters and levels. Noting the diversity within the developer community, Swan is quick to denounce that all indie devs are poor and living in squalor. He wants Indiecity to provide Indie devs to actually make a living from their creations rather than just have them sitting on a HDD never to be seen.

For gamers, Indiecity offers badges, achievements and points for participating on forums, writing reviews and generally being helpful to others by being active in the commnunity. Eventually the site hopes to implement a system that would allow users to swap their points in for discounts on games and merchandise. Reading through others comments as i always do, there is mention of a 15-25% sale fee but this is no different to Steam another online sellers of mainstream commercial games. Personally i think this is an awesome idea and i hope it takes off as it seems a great learning tool for gamers and developers alike.

Uncharted film has a new director

All of us here and many of you are excited for one of Sony’s biggest titles, Uncharted 3 is expected to blow us away and many are already enjoying the beta. As many of us know Hollywood is trying to take this franchise to the sliver screen, but what you may not know is that the project is changing directors.

Neil Burger best known for movies like Limitless and The Illusionist will be taking the place of David O Russell. O Russell has left the project reportedly due to “creative differences”. Burger had landed the job because him and the other producers decided to make a plot that had more to do with the games than the terrible father and son adventure that O Russell cooked up.

Still no word on when this movie will come out but as long as we don’t have to deal with some lame Indiana Jones rip off we will be fine. We don’t need another Crystal Skull.

Dust 514 will require “cover charge” for PS3 owners to play

There hasn’t been a lot of information revealed yet regarding the Eve-themed shooter called Dust 514. The game is a PS3 exclusive at the moment and was originally meant to be entirely free to play. That is until now apparently. In an interview with GI.biz, CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson revealed that those who wish to play the game should expect some sort of “cover charge” to gain access to the title.

To be more exact he said the following: “In the beginning you have to pre-buy credits, so you pay something like $10-$20 to enter the game and you get the equivalent number of credits in the game once you do that. We call this the cover charge. You’re really getting the game for free but you have to pre-buy credits in the beginning. We might go fully free-to-play down the line, but in the beginning we have a cover charge just to manage the initial launch of it.”

It seems that although there is a price point for some early adopters to the game, those down the line will not have to worry about paying any price to play the title. Though it is nice that the developers are going to provide in-game money and items to those who pay the cover charge.

Batman: Arkham City’s latest trailer makes Riddler the new Jigsaw

Remember back in Batman: Arkham Asylum how the Riddler was just a guy who would occasionally mock you over the microphone and that is about it? Well looks like he got tired of just sitting around, and apparently watched one too many Saw movies.

Because in this latest trailer that PC Guru has found, the Riddler is a bit more like Jigsaw this time around. There are tunnels full of spinning blades, traps that Batman looks to have to save people from and his demeanor is much more menacing than it ever was before. Catch the trailer below and the game itself when it releases on October 18th for the PS3, 360 and PC.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy detailed; contains heroes from all Final Fantasy titles

Last week we caught word from Jump Magazine that Square Enix had a unique Final Fantasy game they were going to soon reveal. Today is the day that they chose to reveal it by releasing a website for the game. Andrisang has translated the page and revealed that the game is being worked on by both Square Enix and developer Indies Zero and it will be a music game that will contain Chaos and Cosmos from Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy will contain heroes from FFI to FFXIII and each game is considered an episode in the Theatrhythm that players will play through. The player will be able to make a party of four characters to advance through each episode in three stages, a field, battle and event stage. All of the stages are played as a music game with multiple difficulty levels.

The game itself will also draw upon the vast mount of music that has been created in the Final Fantasy series, including “One Winged Angel,” “To Zanarkand,” “Sunleth Waterscape” and more. Square Enix has yet to provide a release date for Japan, nor any new of a Western localization. Though any 3DS games being announced in development is always a good sign.

Mortal Kombat DLC Kombatant Rain Gameplay Trailer Released

Whoever said lightning never strikes in the same place twice obviously never played against Rain in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3! Players will now be able to do so again soon, with Rain coming to Mortal Kombat very soon via DLC. Today Warner Brothers and Netherrealm Studios have released a gameplay trailer of the ninja, and he’s never looked better! His signature thunderbolt attack returns, his weird ‘move-you-around-the-screen-thingy’ is back, and he can still preform a roundhouse kick that defies the laws of gravity by making you appear on the other side of the screen for some reason. His combos look crazy as well, and appears to be one of the stronger characters of the MK9 roster.

For those who didn’t know, Ed Boon is a massive fan of Prince and his song ‘Purple Rain’, and that’s why Rain’s outfit is purple and is known as ‘The Prince of Outworld’. But don’t worry I assure you, he is much cooler than the origins of his name. Just check out the trailer below to find out!!!!

Comments on the post show further debates and arguments within the legion shows different sides of view on the topic as well. This has happened within the same week the more peaceful faction, The Anon Party has said they would not be involved in any hacking or DDOS attacks anymore.
