Arkedo Series To Debut on Euro PSN

Arkedo and Sanuk Games are proud to announce that “01 – JUMP!”, the first installment of the critically acclaimed ARKEDO SERIES, will be available in Europe on August 24th for only €1.99 / £1.74.

Douse your console in a colorful world and get ready for some serious old-school action! In this tightly crafted 2D platformer, your 8-bit hero must collect bombs before they blow up, while avoiding nasty little bats, 2-way powered crabs, sharp stalactites, spikes from hell, and a bunch of other oddities.
The game is so truthful to the old-school experience that it has no ‘continue’: once you’ve lost all your lives, you have to start it all over again – but in a good mood!

Initially published on XBox Live Indy Games as a “one game per month” experiment, the ARKEDO SERIES got scores of enthusiastic reviews. Jamie Davies from console-arcade.com called “01 – JUMP!” a “colorful and highly entertaining platformer that’s crammed with charm”, while Brandon Daiker of n-sider.com felt like he would best describe it as a “fistful of Altoids stuffed straight up your ass”.

The two other games, “02 – SWAP!” and “03 – PIXEL!”, will have their release dates announced shortly.

Madman will grace our DVDs again in October with a great lineup of DVD releases. With a wide variety of genres and a Will Ferrell film tossed in the mix, plenty of these releases are most definitely worth looking forward to. Jurassic Park will hit shelves and download services on November 15th

Many months ago it was announced that Telltale Games would be bringing a Jurassic Park game to multiple platforms sometime before the end of this year. It has been many many years since a Jurassic Park video game was released, and barely that contained much focus on dinosaurs at all. Now we know when the folks at Telltale will finally master the ability to replicate dinosaur DNA, and that is November 15th.

Telltale Games confirmed this date with IGN, also stating that they would be releasing every episode of the game at one time on most platforms, rather than the monthly released they have done previously for their game. The PC, Mac and PS3 will have downloadable versions of the title, while the Xbox 360 version will be bought on a retail disc. The only version of the game that will receive episodic release however, is the one for the iPad.

Exclusive Centipede Infestation Screenshots

Centipede Infestation is not the sort of thing you want to have to find images for yourself, it’s a bit disturbing! Entomophobes need not worry however as the lovely people over at Atari have given us some exclusive screenshots to save you from any bug related trauma, and a pretty bunch they are at that.

They feature the game’s protagonist Max in action against a few of the games many creepy crawlies, as well as showing off a couple of different environments and the tower defence style units that will be zapping those pesky bugs along with you.

If you actually crave a few more segmented insects in your life then make sure to check out Ataris dedicated Centipede Facebook page, which is chock full of game news and other centipede related goodness, including a real life battle between a snake and a very, big, centipede.

Centipede Infestation will appear on both the Nintendo Wii and 3DS, bringing the arcade classic to a new generation of consoles and gamers. It is due on American shores on October 25, and if you know you’re definitely on for some bug bashing action, the game is already available for  pre-order.

Square Enix reveals their PAX Prime line-up; new project to be announced

If you will be attending PAX Prime this year then you should probably swing by Square Enix’s booth, which is number 3646. They will be showing off a number of their upcoming titles and have them playable for those in attendance. Such titles include Dead Island which will be released in a couple of weeks, Deus Ex: Human Revolution which will be released tomorrow, Wakfu, Heroes of Ruin and Final Fantasy XIII-2.

But beyond the games that will be playable at their booth, Square Enix is going to be holding a special panel on August 27th at 7PM. At this panel Square Enix and Airtight Games will be revealing a brand new project that has not been spoken of outside of the companies. The title was described by Square Enix as “incredibly fascinating and quirky.” Curiouser and curiouser.

Skyrim to be playable at PAX Prime alongside RAGE with Prey 2 presentations

Going to PAX Prime this weekend? Then you should definitely swing by the Bethesda Softworks booth, booth #1314. Why? Because then you may be able to get past the lines of people who will be standing there to get their hands on one of the few first times that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be playable to the public.

Of course there is more there than that. You can also attend a special presentation of Prey 2 which will happen every hour on the hour, as well as get some time to play RAGE which releases in just over a month. Of course if you want to attend a special presentation of Skyrim instead of simply playing it yourself, you can go to the Unicorn Theater on Saturday August 27th at 3:30PM.

There you will be able to watch Todd Howard, game director of Skyrim perform a special presentation of the game. Seating is limited and those who attend will get a special ticket where they will be able to redeem at the Betheseda booth which will net them a cool Skyrim plush helmet that you can see below.

Fable 4 to be released in 2013?

In yet another reveal from the Official Xbox Magazine today, it seems that Peter Molyneux and the folks at Lionhead have been working on another title pertaining to the Fable franchise besides their “not on rails” rail shooter Fable: The Journey. CVG reports that the magazine says “Look for the Fable cycle to continue with a proper, controller-based Fable IV in 2013.”

With two years still in development, and not even an official announcement yet this can still best be seen as speculation, but honestly it is the best move that Lionhead can take considering the disappointment many are already feeling with Fable: The Journey. Or what about Milo?

Gearbox may reboot Duke Nukem in next game

The Official Xbox Magazine’s next issue has an interview with Gearbox Software, and in it the company just happened to mention that they are going to be aiming for a Duke Nukem reboot soon. However before they worry about that, they want to make sure that they can create as good of a game as possible with the Aliens: Colonial Marines title.

The first title will be called Duke Begins reports CVG, which was the game that Gearbox was initially working on before they were given the pinnacle of delayed games, Duke Nukem Forever, to work with. No other details were given at this time but it confirms one thing, Duke Nukem is far from being dead my friends.

Parasite Eve II arrives on PSN this week

Despite The Third Birthday and Parasite Eve I being released much earlier this year, things have been quiet regarding the second game of the franchise. Sure it was announced that there would be a release of Parasite Eve II on the PSN sometime in the future, but there never was a date given nor a reason why it was taking an excess amount of time.

Well, there still is no reason, but those who have been waiting for the game to grace the PlayStation Network with its presence should be happy to know that Parasite Eve II will be released this week on the PSN for $5.99. Parasite Eve II takes place three years after the first game and contains a number of gameplay changes from the original title, though fans of the first game would be doing themselves a disservice to miss out on this one.

Gamescom 2011 attendance sets new record for event

Though E3 can sometimes be called one of the biggest gaming events in the West, it certainly can’t be called the most attended event anymore. Hell, with this new record even the Tokyo Game Show hosts may have to push a little harder to reach new attendance highs. This news comes out of Gamescom themselves as they broke a record of 275,000 attending the event in Cologne, Germany this past week.

The event had a total of 557 exhibitors from 39 different countries, with many of them showing off multiple titles which brought the total number of games shown to over 300. Besides the 275,000 in attendance, 5,000 of them were members of the press and Gamescom 2012 has been given a start date of August 15th to the 19th.
