Ys IV to be remade for PlayStation Vita

The Ys series is quite old honestly, so old in fact that Ys IV was made in two versions, Ys IV: Mask of the Sun which was released on the Super Nintendo in 1993 and Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys the same year for the PC. Despite the age however, Ys IV is going to be totally remade for the PlayStation Vita by Falcom.

As you can see in the leaked screenshot above the game is going to be extensively remade. The official name for this new remake is Ys IV: Woodland of Celceta. Despite the leaked screenshot above, not much is currently known about the title, including which version of Ys IV will be remade into this title.

Katamari Damacy headed to the PSVita…

It looks like the Vita will have a ton of games based on Sony’s recent conference, and thankfully Namco will making the selection that much sweeter as a Katamari Damacy title has been announced for the PS Vita. At the moment, nothing is known on if this game will be a port or a follow-up to another Katamari title of the past, but it is a sure thing that we are sure to see some interesting control methods included due to the Vita’s touchscreen.

This is the second entry in the Katamari Damacy series on a Sony Handheld, and considering how badly that Me & My Katamari needed two-stick control on the PSP, I would imagine that Sony’s new handheld should be a perfect fit. Once Namco reveal more information, we will be sure to bring you an update.

Konami Reveals A Few Details For Playstation Vita

Konami were present at the Sony Press Conference that took place today. Hideo Kojima himself took the stage and revealed two pieces of information.

First off, Kojima told the crowd that Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (which only contains Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 in Japan) will be released on the Vita alongside the console counterparts. A release year of 2012 was also announced.

Alongside that announcement, Kojima also revealed that Zone of the Enders HD Collection that will be released for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita. The game will also see a release in 2012.

Kojima also talked a little about the Fox Engine, Kojima’s own next generation engine. He told everyone that the Playstation Vita can handle it and revealed that he is developing a game which “may take a while.”

Burn the Rope: Worlds released

Big Blue Bubble Inc has released a sequel to their hit iOS game, Burn the Rope. Burn the Rope: Worlds gives you 100 brand new levels in four different themes, and a new mini game called Endless Burn.

Burn the Rope: Worlds has the same gameplay rules as the original game. You have to burn as much rope as possible, trying to keep the flame going as long as possible. To keep the flame going, you rotate your phone and catch ropes on fire, since flames burn upwards. Additionally, there are different types of bugs with either help or hinder you along the way. The mini-game is like a version of snake, where you have to collect bugs but not run into yourself.

This is a unique puzzle game, not simply a standard cookie cutter concept or design.

Go grab it from iTunes now for $0.99 and burn away!

Lord of Apocalypse announced for both PSP and PlayStation Vita

Let it not be said that the PlayStation Portable is dead. Today during the Sony Pre-Tokyo Game Show event it was revealed that Square Enix’s Lord of Arcana is going to be getting a sequel. Better yet, this sequel is not only showing up on the PlayStation Vita in the future but also on PlayStation Portable as well.

The game is going to be called Lord of Apocalypse and will feature character designs by Tsubasa Masao. The same person who was involved in games such as the Zone of Enders titles. Lord of Arcana was released earlier this year in the West and saw mild success so let’s hope that this sequel will make it over to the West as well.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom to be launch title in Japan

Fighting gamers rejoice! At least those in Japan, because during Sony’s Pre-Tokyo Game Show event today they announced that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be available as a PlayStation Vita launch title in Japan. It may have already been announced as a launch title in the West, but since the West will be getting the Vita a few months after Japan, it only made sense.

This news comes shortly after the announcement that the popular Sony Cat mascot Toro and neighbor Kuro will be playable fighters, helping raise gamer excitement about a title that some see as a re-hash of a game that has already seen one version and is also coming out on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the coming months.

Final Fantasy X HD Announced For PS3 & Vita

Right now, as I post this, Sony is currently conducting their Pre-TGS conference, like Nintendo did yesterday. Square Enix took the stage and talked about some games coming out for the Playstation 3 and Vita. No one expect this announcement.

At the end of the section, a logo appears on the screen. It is the logo of Final Fantasy X. Ladies and gentlemen, Tidus, Yuna and co. are about to grace your big screen TV and your pocket, because a HD upgrade to Final Fantasy X is heading to the Playstation Vita and Playstation 3.

No other information has been announced but Shinji Hashimoto did say (rough translation) “I received requests from many fans who desire to play Final Fantasy on the Vita. Today, their voices helped form “Final Fantasy X HD” which will be for the PS Vita!”
