The Simpsons Arcade due out this Week on the XBLA

It’s crazy to think that The Simpsons are now nearing 500 episodes. While the series has without a doubt cemented it’s place in pop culture history though, this family of five have also made quite a mark in the video game universe, with the most popular being the famous Simpsons Arcade. After a long wait and some less than favorable ports in-between, Konami are finally releasing The Simpsons Arcade for the Xbox Live Arcade this Friday.

This former quarter-muncher will feature new modes, the complete Japanese version of the game, and online co-op for up to four players to enjoy at once. You might expect the price to be a bit high on this grand package, but Simpsons Arcade will be priced at a cool 800 points. Yes, it’s going to be a nostalgic trip when we get to bash enemies with Marge’s vacuum all over again, and PSN users are in luck as they will get their chance to download this classic on February 7th as well.

New Club Nintendo Rewards bring the Party

Nintendo are yet again offering up downloadable titles for Club Nintendo, and this time Mario is getting some more love. Until February 29th, members can redeem their coins for some digital content, with the most prominent being Mario Party 2. If you have followed the age-old series, Mario Party 2 is a definite fan favorite and truly paved the way for the board-game greatness that has lived on throughout the decade. You can snatch up this title for a mere 150 coins through Club Nintendo rewards.

Handheld owners can also get a chance to show off their artistic side for 150 coins with Art Academy: First Semester, which is also available through the DSiWare service and cartridge release.

If physical items are more your thing, check out the image above. Yes, that’s right, a 3DS Game Card Case is now available as a reward. Before you sigh due to how generic the offering is though, you should know that this holder can keep up to 18 DS/3DS carts at once and has 4 double-sided covers included, featuring the likes of Link, Mario, and your standard 3DS design fare for 250 coins. Also 250 coins are three new notebooks, featuring the likes of Mario and Peach, Boo, and DK.

Skyrim’s Creation Kit available soon, catch a sneak peek now

One of the biggest bonuses of picking up The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the PC is that players will be able to download the Skyrim Creation Kit sometime in the future. While there are a few mods for the game floating around on the internet at the moment, these pale in comparison to what players will be able to create once the full creation kit is released.

Today Bethesda has released the below video where they explain a number of features available in this mod tool and how deep the customization truly is. The system works seamlessly with Skyrim Workshop on Steam and makes it easier than ever to upload and share mods with friends. The Skyrim Creation Kit will be available free as a download on Steam sometime soon.

THQ’s CEO Farell takes 50% cut in pay, board of directors also takes pay cuts

0

THQ is not in a good way at the moment and after multiple stories over the past 24 hours, it appears even the higher-ups in the company are going to be suffering a hit as well. THQ’s investor document was released earlier today and in this new document we learn that the CEO Brian Farell will be taking a pay cut for the upcoming year.

Starting on February 15 his salary will be cut in half, going from $718,500 to $359,250. Depending on THQ’s situation next year, his salary will return to normal. The board of directors has also chosen to take a bit less money than normal as the document says that they have “elected” to take 50% less cash compensation for their time starting today. Let us hope that this reduction in salary will help save at least a few THQ employees’ jobs.

EFF helping users get back their Megaupload content

0

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has launched a new website that will help those who have lost content on Megaupload.com.  The website, MegaRetrieval.com (link here), attempts to help people who legitimately uploaded their own content to the service and now can’t get it back,  due to the website being taken down for copyright infringement

If you live in the USA and are missing legal content, be sure to email [email protected].

MegaRetrieval.com was started by EFF and storage provider Carpathia Hosting.

“EFF is troubled that so many lawful users of Megaupload.com had their property taken from them without warning and that the government has taken no steps to help them,” wrote Julie Samuels, Staff Attorney at EFF. “We think it’s important that these users have their voices heard as this process moves forward.”

“We have no immediate plans to re-provision some or all of the Megaupload servers,” wrote Brian Winter, CMO at Carpathia Hosting. “This means that there is no imminent data loss for Megaupload customers. If this situation changes, we will post a notice at least 7 days in advance of re-provisioning any Megaupload servers at www.Carpathia.com and www.MegaRetrieval.com. We continue to recommend that Megaupload users seeking to retrieve their data contact Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) for assistance by visiting www.MegaRetrieval.com. Please continue to visit www.Carpathia.com or www.MegaRetrieval.com for updates.”
