Dodonpachi Saidaioujou gameplay footage

As reported yesterday, DoDonPachi Saidaioujou is currently undergoing location tests in Japan. Yesterday we learned about the new Dress System, but today we get to see some actual gameplay footage. The footage comes straight from a location test, and while it is not the best quality (taken using an amateur camera), it still shows off the game well enough.

The gameplay looks like typical DoDonPachi, and there is some insane bullet hell action going on here. The footage here shows off the first three levels, complete with the boss battles. It looks rather impressive, and there is a noticeable improvement in the background visuals compared to past games.

The Dictator Launches His Website – Bigger than Facebook!

General Aladeen has an announcement for the people of the world – you should listen to his wisdom:

“My website just launched – it’s already bigger than Facebook! Visit it! (unless you’re in Wadiya, where for some reason there’s no internet. I didn’t ban it. Honest)”

His Excellency has constructed this magnificent site to be read in both English and Wadiyan, so that you can learn more about his greatness with ease. You can also friend the General on the lesser known site that is Facebook, or follow him on the site where birds sing via @RepublicWadiya.

General Aladeen has several useful and informative links on his website, including news of his fellow great leaders and humorous things such as the UN .

DoDonPachi Saidaioujou unveiled, has new dress system

Andriasang has reported that Japanese developer Cave has begun location tests for their upcoming shooter, DoDonPachi Saidaioujou. The game is one of few shmup projects that the company is planning to release in 2012, including DoDonPachi: Blissful Death.

It seems DoDonPachi Saidaioujou will try to shake the tried and tested formula a bit by introducing a ‘Dress System’, where you basically dress up the game’s female characters in various outfits. It isn’t purely eye-candy or aesthetic, as the way you dress your character will affect the gameplay. For example, choosing the bikini outfit results in the highest difficulty.

Not exactly innovative, but it’s a quirky and interesting idea.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Has Facebook Integration

Final Fantasy XIII-2 was released this past week, mostly to a mixed reaction. Now, in an interesting and surprising announcement by Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIII-2 will have Facebook integration. With Facebook integration, players will be able to update their status with their in-game progress. The information will include the player’s party setup, the monsters the player has collected, their battle scores and much more. Achievements and Trophies will also be included.

The announcement came as a surprise as this is the first Final Fantasy game that will include integration with the giant social networking site. If this is a success, then expect more games to include Facebook integration, which would mean more profiles being spammed by in-game progress of several games.

What do you think about the integration of Facebook in Final Fantasy XIII-2? Give us your thoughts below.

Sony Believes Vita Japan Launch “A Good Start”

Despite retail sales that would make any CEO of an electronics giant worry, Sony has been cool about the Japanese launch of the Playstation Vita. In fact, they have a very optimistic look at the launch figures and the future of the handheld. Sony’s chief financial officer Masaru Kato had this to say when they had revealed sales figures during the latest financial call:

Now the company has not publicly announced the units of shipping and sales, [but] at the appropriate time, we would do so. But as far as sell-through, three weeks have passed and our sell-through is 500,000. This was announced on the 10th of January. So as a start, I think we had a very – a good start.

Including software and hardware, we are carrying out the sales promotions and we do it to boost the sales, and we do not think we have any problems.

In order to support the Playstation Vita after the international launch later this month, Sony have to be optimistic, otherwise lose customer and third party support for the handheld. Is this misplaced optimism by Sony? No, it is not. The Vita is a great piece of hardware. It will also help determine the future of not only future Playstation portable devices, but also the future of the dedicated handheld space. However, sales of the 3DS show that the dedicated handheld can succeed in this market. Let’s hope that the Vita can see success.
