The Booth Babes Of E3 2012

The Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 for short is a place where the world’s best video game companies gather each year to show off their latest soon to be released video game titles to the world.  Everyone tries their utmost best to one up each other with who has the best games.  But games are not the only thing that some of the Companies like to show off!  This year a number of companies also used models to give their games that extra push to get people to try out their titles at the show.  Of course if the game is good it should sell itself, but then again when you have a beautiful woman or many women dressed up as a video game character, it puts that extra bit of love into the game.  Take for example the lovely Jessica Nigri who this year dressed up in her world famous Lollipop Chainsaw outfit, not only did the crowds flock to take a photo with her(myself included), but they also tried out the game too, which I must say is quite as entertaining as taking a photo with Jessica!

For your viewing pleasure we have organized and collected all of this year’s E3 2012 Booth Babes.  You can check them out below in the gallery or jump on over and check them out in our Facebook E3 2012 Booth Babes gallery (click here to view the gallery in Facebook)  Let us know who you think was the best dressed booth babe this year and what company you believe had the best booth babes at their booth!

Dead Space 3 Interview with Shereif Fattouh

Dead Space 3 made quite an impact at this year’s E3 2012.  We caught up with Shereif Fattouh, producer of Dead Space 3 and asked him some questions about the game and what fans of the series can expect in the third instalment.  Having had a sneak peak at the game (you can check out our game play impressions article here) We were eager to ask Shereif as much as we could about Dead Space 3 as possible.  We run through the new co-op feature, the new cover system, weapons and of course some of the enemies you can expect to see in the game, and let me tell you there are some amazingly original creatures that will be doing their utmost best to rip your head off and claim your body as their own!

As always the feeling of being terrified and also excited to down down these new enemies is something that Viceral Games have successfully achieve from the gameplay trailer we watched at E3.

Now without further ado, click play on the video below and enjoy the interview.

Double Dragon Neon E3 2012 Interview and Gameplay

Due out this summer, Majesco and WayForward’s Double Dragon Neon is looking to revitalize the franchise with all of that classic flare and some brand new mechanics. Our very own MasterAbbott caught up with Majesco Project Manager Pete Rosky at E3, who was ready to show off some more gameplay from an early build of the game.

This version had four stages to choose from, and the one within is the first from the game. MasterAbbott is a HUGE fan of the original franchise, so a lot of hard-hitting questions were asked to Rosky. Double Dragon Neon will be a classic beat-em-up and star Billy and Jimmy as they aim to save Marian, who has been punched in the gut and kidnapped yet again. Among the new features shown off in the demo, we got a good look at the new abilities and techniques that Billy and Jimmy can use, which can be upgraded by collecting cash. These include projectiles, as well as several other locked power-ups that will come into play as players progress throughout the game. Cassettes have a role in which power-up is unlocked, and the dough you find throughout is then used as a currency system to pay for more power for each move.

Combos were also shown off, and MasterAbbott was quick to ask about what returning Double Dragon fans can expect to see with all of the new maneuvers in the game. You can check out the full video below to get your fix for now, and look for Double Dragon Neon as it hits the PSN and XBLA this summer at an unannounced date. Do keep in mind as well that this is indeed an early version of the game, and this title is still under development as we speak.

Street Fighter x Tekken on iOS?

Are you ready to cross the line….on your iOS Device?

Something curious appeared at the Capcom booth during E3 this year: Street Fighter x Tekken on both iPhone & iPad. Reports say that while Capcom have no current plans on bringing the hit fighter to mobile and tablet devices, they were curious to see how fans would react to it at E3. A demo for the game was available at the Capcom booth with 4 playable fighters: Ryu, Kazuya, Chun-Li and Nina. Apparently it plays very similar to other Capcom fighters and retains to the visual style of the original title with a few visual downgrades.

With the success of Street Fighter IV: Volt, Street Fighter II and Marvel vs Capcom 2 on iOS devices, it’s not hard to see them bringing Street Fighter x Tekken to mobiles soon. That being said, Capcom still isn’t sure if they even want to release it. I guess all we can do is hope!

Make sure you check out the gameplay video below of the rough demo!

Call of Duty: Black Ops II E3 2012 Strike Force Preview

While everyone was awed during the presentation for Call of Duty: Black Ops II at Microsoft’s Pre-E3 conference, there was much more to be seen behind closed doors at Activision’s booth. At first we were simply shown the same level of the game which was demonstrated at the Microsoft press conference, involving Row Menendez’s assault on the city using the United States’ own robotic weaponry and drones. We were told that this level would occur two-thirds of the way through the title, so it is obvious that there will be quite a bit of build-up to these fast paced scenes. Now for the most part this playthrough went nearly the exact same, however a few extra pieces of information were shown.

During the place where the player had to start sniping enemies to provide covering fire for the female president, I caught a glimpse of a rappel option as well, meaning players may be able to make a few small choices during missions, slightly altering the path which they were able to take. Now this sniper rifle was shown firing slowly during the presentation, however for us the demoer was able to use the sniper rifle in a semi-automatic fashion, blasting through walls and dealing out death to any enemies in the vicinity. Now where the demo during the Microsoft presentation skipped ahead, our demo didn’t.

We followed the player as they entered into an armored vehicle and began following the caravan with the president, that is until he was t-boned by a semi-truck driven by the enemy. To make matters worse, the enemies brought along hacked CLAWs, which are small, four-legged drones with armored exteriors who need either explosions or charged sniper fire to damage. After taking out these drones with a combination of rocket launchers and sniper fire, he reached the area where the demo picked back up, with the control of the quadrocopter drones which are guided by the Data Glove to fire on targets taking cover.

The playthrough consisted of the same footage shown during the conference, including the player jumping into the jet and providing covering fire for the president’s caravan. However rather than ending in the middle of aerial combat, we found ourselves seeing some minor dogfighting as the player flew after the enemy drones and shot them down with chain guns and Sky Buster Missiles which were basically homing missiles. The single player demo ended after the player ejected out of his plane to crash it into the final enemy drone in a spectacular explosion.

After this relatively samey presentation, we were shown a brand new feature which would be the first of its kind in the Call of Duty franchise, Strike Force missions. These Strike Force missions occur outside of the main story arc but being successful in these missions can provide various bonuses which may make the game easier in the future. Interestingly enough, rather than allowing players to constantly retry the missions upon death, failure is quite permanent. Though these levels can be replayed to try and gain a better score or faster completion time, the final result will always be saved after the first completion, meaning that a failure can only be rectified by a complete re-playthrough.

Now the Strike Force mission we were shown was called Overwatch and consisted mostly of capturing various locations on the map with the player’s forces. Interestingly enough, rather than simply playing one soldier in a squad, gamers will actually be in charge of commanding the entire battlefield, including various squads of soldiers, ground-drones, aerial drones and more. This means that players can simply jump into a soldier, take the battle to enemy soldiers and try to micromanage that team. Players can even jump into various machinery such as their own CLAW or other drone to try and swing the battle in their favor.

Players in this mode can pull out of the battlefield and see where all of their team and the enemy computer team is located on the field, allowing for complete battlefield command, including the ability to set waypoints down for machinery and soldiers to travel to. This overhead mode also displays the health of various members of your force, allowing players to micromanage units in danger and provide back-up.

Now not much was said about what other types of stages players will be able to experience in Strike Force. However it was said that players will unlock these missions as they make their way through the single-player experience. We tried inquiring about a possible co-operative Strike Force inclusion, but the team would not say anything more at the time of presentation. This mode seemed to provide a breath of fresh air by providing some new gameplay elements we have never seen from the franchise so far. So what do you think about this RTS-like inclusion to Black Ops II?

Justice League Movie In The Works

It appears assembling Marvel’s The Avengers for a film has inspired DC Comics and Warner Bros to do the same!

According to Variety, Warner Bros has already hired Will Beall (Gangster Squad) to pen down a screenplay for a Justice League film. There’s also a strong possibility that the movie could tie into others much like The Avengers. This isn’t hard to imagine considering the DC Comic films we’ve seen recently such as Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and Green Lantern (2011), as well as The Dark Knight Rises (2012) coming next month and Man of Steel (2013) coming out next year.

But that’s not all! Green Lantern scribe, Michael Goldenberg has just been signed on to write a script for a Wonder Woman movie. Also, s script is being written for The Flash, which will be directed by Greg Berlanti.

Variety also reports that DC franchises Aquaman, Green Arrow, Lobo, the Suicide Squad, and Shazam are all in various stages of development as up coming Warner Bros films.

However, it is a possibility these films will not be linked to a Justice League film, and it could just be a stand alone title. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.

Natsume E3 2012 Booth Overview and Digital Future

While the big highlight of Natsume’s E3 presentation was the latest Harvest Moon game, Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, they had plenty of other titles to show off as well. However before we took a look at these new titles, we spoke shortly with the wonderful woman behind Natsume’s social media. She told me that Natsume is taking a big step towards moving a number of their franchises onto digital markets and have already done so with their biggest franchise, Harvest Moon, with various PSOne title and iOS as well as Gabrielle. She continued to say that two classic Game Boy Color titles would be coming to the 3DS eShop in the next few months and these two titles were Harvest Moon Game Boy Color and the Legend of the River King Game Boy Color.

The first thing we took a look at during our time with Natsume was Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, the preview of which can be found here. Afterwords we took a look at the next installment to the Reel Fishing series, Reel Fishing Challenge which will be coming to the WiiWare marketplace shortly. This title will allow the player to cast out normally or by using the WiiMote to cast their line, as well as reeling in by moving the nunchuck in a reeling motion or simply holding A. The title will allow players to catch up to twenty different fish and participate in forty different missions involving catching certain fish. In the future, DLC will be added to add more fish to the title as well as more lures to catch said fish.

Earlier I mentioned that Natsume was looking to move onto the iOS marketplace and their first step was with the $4.99 Harvest Moon Frantic Farming. This title is an interesting take on the Harvest Moon series and instead focuses solely on farming. However rather than play as the farmer himself, you control one Harvest Sprite who will need to harvest all of the vegetables on one plot of land with only so many moves available. This puzzle styled game will have players sliding plants around in an effort to create strings of plants (currently 4 types available) for the Sprite to harvest as well as water nearby plants so that they grow and can be harvested during the next move. The Natsume representative stated that the game would be constantly updated and upgraded in the future.

Also landing on the iOS marketplace, this time for the price of nothing at all, there is Gabrielle’s Monster Match which is a simple game that allows players to match up various monster tiles, with four monsters in a line being the goal. Every time the player makes a move that doesn’t create a line, a new monster is added to the map, with the final goal being to clear the map of all tiles. The game will be freemium in a way, as players can purchase additional items in-game. Besides the basic gameplay mode, there is a time attack mode, an endless mode and a challenge mode as well. At the moment both of these apps are available on the iOS store with the Harvest Moon Frantic Farming set to be released on the Android in the future.

Heart of the Swarm Units – Starcraft II

Ever since Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty was released, there was speculation of what future expansions would bring to the current multiplayer experience. And to put an end to some of the questions, Blizzard has unleashed Heart of the Swarm demo stations at the MLG Spring Championship running from June 8-10. Let’s take a look at some of the new additions available:

Protoss Units

Mothership Core
Abilities: Purify (Base Defense), Mass Recall (Rescue Units)
– Mothership Core can attack both land and air units. Purify will help lend an extra hand to defend base or units while Mass Recall can provide a quick retreat or sneaky entry.

Oracle
Abilities: Entomb (Slow Enemy Economy),
Cloak Field (Cloak Units and Structures)
– Known as the harassment specialist, the Oracle can cripple an enemy’s growing economy by utilizing Entomb. In addition, enemy forces will require some fast detection in order to unveil any cloaked units or structures due to Cloak Field.

Tempest
Abilities: Long Range
– One unit that would be ultimately desired would be similar to the Zerg’s Brood Lord but able to attack both air and ground. Prayers have been answered for the Protoss as the Tempest has long range and can attack both types of units. Must be a hefty price to get one of these.

Terran Units

Battle Hellion
Abilities: Transform (Tough Close Combatant)
– Transforming from a normal Hellion, the Battle Hellion can withstand quite a beating in close quarters. Instead of delivering a straight forward attack, these transformers adjust their flamethrowers radially. I think we just got back our firebats!

Warhound
Abilities: Missiles (Targets Mechanical Units)
– You might remember a similar creation in the original Starcraft. Welcome back the improved Goliath that uses its Missiles ability to target mechanical units in the area. The Warhound is useful for attacking both land and air units.

Widow Mine
Abilities: Large Explosion Radius
– When I heard that Vulture’s did not make a return, I could no longer harass players using Spider Mines. Well, the harassment is back with the new and improved Widow Mines. The best part about these suckers is that they can attach themselves to land and air units. Did I mention big explosions?

Zerg Units

Swarm Host
Abilities: Spawns Free Units (Endless)
– Okay, we all know that Brood Lords are quite nasty; however, you can substitute Swarm Hosts for some mischievous underground fun! Attacking both air and ground units, the spawned Locusts are an endless stream of gremlins popping out of their parent’s backside – disgusting but cool.

Viper
Abilities: Abduct (Captures Targets),
Blinding Cloud (Reduces Weapon Range)
– Your Terran base is all set up with siege tanks at the ready and bunkers blocking your entrance. Everything is fine, right? That’s when the Viper comes in to pull one of your tanks away for a merciless slaughter.

Ultralisk – Evolved
Abilities: Burrow Charge (Fast Assault)
– I realize you might think that Ultralisks take up too much of your army pool, but just imagine what could happen if your beasty animal could burrow. In the expansion, all you have to due is evolve your Ultralisk and burrow charge your way to your enemy’s doorstep. This proves mammoths are fast.

And that was just a quick explanation of some of the new features to be seen in Heart of the Swarm. Take a look at the video below to see all of this in action.
