Dark Scavenger Rummages its way onto Desura

After being released back at the beginning of May, Dark Scavenger the mostly silly, sort of awesome hybrid between point and click adventure and RPG has been released today on Desura.  From developer Psydra Games, Dark Scavenger is the tale of a human lost in space who embarks on the less than noble quest of getting fuel for a space ship.

Featuring a plethora of items, the vast majority able to be turned into the players choice of one of three different usable items by the human’s shipmates.  Dark Scavenger had plenty to do and offers quite a bit in terms of replayability, especially with a new game plus mode, so players can get every single usable item possible.

Players can check out our own review of Dark Scavenger HERE and can download the game from Desura for $4.99 HERE, as well as lots of other direct to download sites.

Knights of the Round Cable Swings onto App Store Today

Publishers Focus Home Interactive and Chilingo, with developer Dancing Dots, have announced they have brought the anticipated Knights of the Round Cable to the iOS App Store for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.  After showing the game off at E3, the game generated a lot of buzz for its simplistic and intuitive one-touch control scheme.

Featuring a knight set out to save the princess, while collecting gems along the way, Knights of the Round Cable utilizes a hook and anchor system for the knight’s locomotion.  Swinging from point to point while avoiding enemies, players can get power-ups to ease gameplay a bit and collect all the gems around the level to try and get a highscore.

Players can download Knights of the Round Cable today from the iOS App Store HERE, but the game is also headed for release on EA’s Origin quote “very soon”, so those preferring PC gaming or lacking an iOS device can download it then.

Watch the Epic Mickey: The Power of Two Intro Movie here

Disney Interactive Studios has shared almost five minutes of the intro video you can expect to see in the full game of Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two when it arrives on Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 this Autumn.

For the first time gamers will play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first cartoon star, in addition to Mickey Mouse. However, their partnership isn’t the only first; this ‘The Story Begins’ trailer has revealed a number of other firsts for gaming.

All characters — most notably Oswald The Lucky Rabbit whose voice will be heard for the first time — will communicate by speaking to the player. Also, it has laid claim to being the first game musical, as finding their voices has allowed the characters to break into song – as you will see in this video and will become a regular occurrence when playing the game.

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two launches in the UK on 23rd November 2012.

Mario Kart 7 Trophies come to Club Nintendo in Europe

At this moment, I really wish I lived in Europe right now. Today, Nintendo of Europe listed three new rewards for Club Nintendo of the region – a trio of Mario Kart 7 trophy replicas. As you see above, the leaf, shell, and special cups look amazing in reality, and would make a beautiful set piece for anyone wanting to spruce up their shelf.

You can get each for 5000 stars (which I’m guessing is a good amount), and I would say that’s worth it considering that these mini versions of the cups look to be high in quality. I’m content with Nintendo of America’s offerings at the moment, but these would certainly be awesome additions here (hint…hint).

Triangle Man Released on Desura

With frequent updates and the ability to continue to give the developers feedback, including not liking a level, or suggesting a new enemy for Triangle Man to take on, this certainly is a game like no other.

Players who chose to get the game now and help form it over time, turning it into a game that the fans as well as the developers can be happy with, will receive a 50% discount on what the final price will end up being.

To grab the game now, head on over to their site on Desura HERE for $4.95 on the PC. For more information about Convict Interactive, head on over to the developers’ site HERE.

Getting Ready for Armageddon Expo 2012 Melbourne

Pop culture conventions are generally a tricky thing – being pop culture, it caters to a whole bunch of differing genres and mediums, thus having to make a balance between all of them. Last June 30, 2012 – July 1, 2012 saw the first Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne heralding the monolithic Stan Lee and venerable Patrick Stewart in attendance – two power houses in their respective areas. Because of this, many across Victoria, and even from overseas flocked to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre to see them, creating many issues and problems and causing many to loudly voice out their complaints.

Seemingly in response to this, another large convention in Melbourne, Armageddon Expo, made an announcement that with their years of experience in running conventions and having listened to attendant’s feedback,  they will strive to give quality service and experiences to those who attend Armageddon Expo 2012, which is also held in the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on 13 October, 2012 and 14 October 2012.

Amongst their arrangements is that they have expanded into a 4th bay, which will prove to be the largest Armageddon thus far, providing a larger area for autograph booths and photo booths, wider aisles in between stalls, allowing people to walk about freely, as opposed to the tight aisles and walkways previous conventions have been plagued with. They have also announced that they will be selling autograph tokens and photo tokens online to prevent the massive queuing for said tokens, and reducing overall wait times.

They have also said to feature a number of guests from different mediums and genres, and as each week passes throughout July will reveal more of their roster. As of writing, the following guests have been slated to attend:

  • Little Kuriboh aka Martin Billany, creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Series and forerunner of the Abridged series
  • Jonny Yong Bosch (Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, Vash the Stampede from Trigun, Adam Park from Might Morphin’ Power Rangers)
  • Christopher Heyerdahl (Zor-El from Smallville, Alistair from Supernatural, Dieter Braun from True Blood)
  • Aldis Hodge (Alec Hardison from Leverage, Ray “Voodoo” Tatum from Friday Night Lights)
  • Christopher Judge (Teal’c from Stargate SG-1, Magneto from X-men:Evolution)
  • Bob Layton, Iron Man Artist and co-creator of the “Demon in a Bottle” Iron Man storyline)
  • Mela Lee (Yuki Cross from Vampire Knight, Rin Tousaka from Fate/Stay Night)
  • Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer from Supernatural, Jacob from Lost, Paul Bennett from Dexter)
Jonny Yong Bosch’s band, Eyeshine is slated to play on the closing evening, and what convention is complete without a little cosplay? Cosplay Parades and Contests will be ever present as well as a “Cosplay Game” event themed around the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and celebrating 25 years of the Legend of Zelda.
While this list is incomplete, as July is only half over, and one can only guess as two who the other guests are. As always however, guest attendance is dependent on work and health commitments.

DC Comics and Warner Brothers have also given their sponsorship to the event, giving them a large presence when it opens on October 13.

Tickets for Armageddon go on sale on the 1st of August at 9 am on ticketek.com.

The characters who have already been revealed are Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman,  the Flash and Soloman Grundy.
