Project Versus J announced; will feature Goku, Luffy and Toriko

Namco Bandai seems to have grown rather fond of announcing games via adverts in Shonen Jump as the company has announced a second game in this week’s issue and it happens to be a very unique looking title featuring at least three very popular characters.

As you can see in the scan to the right (click the image for a much larger version), the game is called Project Versus J and the company is describing it as the “ultimate Jump game.” Currently no platform for the game has been announced but it is worth noting that Nintendo has previously published Jump crossover games in the form of Jump Super Stars and Jump Ultimate Stars on the Nintendo DS. Expect more details over the next few weeks but for now, you can ponder how a rubber man can survive a Kamehameha or Spirit Bomb.

Fire Emblem: Awakening Western release dates announced

Today during Nintendo of America’s Nintendo Direct the company finally revealed the release date for the highly-anticipated 3DS game, Fire Emblem: Awakening. Fans of the game will be able to pick it up in North America on February 4th next year and gamesr in Europe will be able to pick it up at some point in April.

As with the Japanese version of the game, Fire Emblem: Awakening will feature downloadable episodes which will be released in English after the basic version of the game is released. To see the game in action as well as some screenshots of the title you can find them here.

Scribblenauts Unlimited makes its way to Europe in February

While gamers in North America have already been using their Nintendo 3DS and their brand new Wii U to create strange creatures to accomplish various goals, gamers in Europe have been left in the dark as Scribblenauts Unlimited has had no release date in their region for many months now.

Well today Nintendo revealed that Scribblenauts Unlimited will be making its way to the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS within only a few months as the game will be available in PAL regions sometime in February. Before this announcement, the game only had a “2013” release window which means this narrower release window early in the year should be pleasing for fans of the series.

Black Ops 2 earns $1 billion in 15 days

While Activision has obviously forgone their usual five-day sales announcement for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 it seems that they were waiting to make an even bigger announcement. Today the company revealed that Black Ops 2 has managed to pull in $1 billion in the last 15 days.

It is worth noting that the company previously revealed that Black Ops 2 pulled in $500 million in the first twenty-four hours alone so this means that the title has obviously seen continued success past the launch date. It is also interesting to note that Modern Warfare 3 managed to reach one billion within 16 days, so Black Ops 2 has managed to reach that milestone only one day sooner.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 announced for PS3 and PS Vita

A few months ago Namco Bandai released One Piece: Pirate Warriors in the West and before that the title was released in Japan and obviously the game has done well enough to warrant a sequel because today an advertisement for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 was found in the latest issue of Shonen Jump Magazine.

According to the ad, which can be seen to the right, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 will feature the series’ “New World” story arc and will include a number of new playable characters as well as a new gameplay mode. While One Piece: Pirate Warriors was a PlayStation 3 exclusive, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 will be released on the PlayStation Vita as well as the PS3. Currently there is no release window for the title.

Ni no Kuni’s first behind-the-scenes video released

As you may already know, Namco Bandai released a demo for their upcoming anime-styled RPG, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, yesterday on the PlayStation Network. Well, if you didn’t know you do now and today the company has decided to release a seven minute behind the scenes video featuring a tour through Level 5’s offices as well as their motion capture studio.

The video can be seen below and it is worth noting that the video is named as the first video, so there will probably be multiple videos released in the next few week as the game’s January 22nd release date grows closer. For those who don’t know, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch follows the story of Oliver, a young boy who sets out on a journey to become a wizard so he can revive his deceased mother.

LEGO The Lord of The Rings Now Available

A game is never late, reader. Nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to. And many other such Lord of the Rings’ references. What I’m trying to say is, another entry in the highly popular Lego series of video games, this time for the Lord of the Rings movies, has just come out in stores! The game is set across the entire trilogy and follows the companions in their quest to destroy the One Ring. Enhanced by the comedy and wit that the Lego games are known for however, this instalment looks bigger and better than all the Lego games before it.

“With LEGO The Lord of the Rings, we are taking players on a truly remarkable adventure that is more epic than any they’ve experienced before in a LEGO game,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games.  “The game has a wonderful cast of characters, dramatic battles, and amazing locations, all of which bring The Lord of the Rings story to life in a uniquely LEGO way that the entire family will enjoy together.”

Players will take on the roles of all their favourite characters from the films while exploring and questing across the lands of Middle Earth. On consoles the game will include drop-in and drop-out co-op as well as the ability to unlock more than 85 playable characters across all platforms. Judging by the launch trailer down below, it actually looks really good.

LEGO Lord of the Rings is out now for the Nintendo DS ($49.95), 3DS and Playstation Vita ($59.95) hand-held systems; as well as on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 ($79.95) and PC. The game will also be released for the Nintendo Wii ($69.95) on December the 12th.

New ‘Jack Reacher’ Featurettes

The excitement continues to build for Jack Reacher’s release here in Australia on January 3rd.

Paramount Pictures AU have given us a brand new poster, which you can see to the left, as well as three new videos: two official clips and one featurette.

The featurette is of special interest because it features none other than Lee Child – the creator of the 17 book series, the source material for the film – giving a little background and description about the title character, among other tidbits.

The official clip – “Jack Reacher Is Here!” – shows the district attorney getting the rundown on Reacher as he looks through his file.

And lastly, the official clip – “5 Against 1” – speaks for itself. Jack Reacher is a bad ‘shut-yo-mouth!’.

So, without further ado, enjoy!

Attack on Titan getting anime adaptation?

Popular Shonen Magazine manga Attack on Titan was accidentally revealed to be getting an anime adaptation in Spring 2013 through Kodansha’s official Shonen Magazine website.

The information appeared and was soon removed. Judging by the extent of the details for the series, it is undoubtedly truly happening and this was simply an accidental leak.

The Attack on Titan manga began in Shonen Magazine in 2009 and became a sleeper hit, becoming a sales dynamo for Kodansha, so much so that they decided to release the manga internationally in English in the West. It doesn’t seem to be much of stretch to think that it will be getting an adaptation considering how popular this series is. On top of all that Kodansha did announce back in 2011 that there would be a live-action film of the manga in 2013.

Attack on Titan focuses on a world in which humans struggle to survive after giant man-eating titans take over and eliminate more than half the worlds population.

What do you think of Attack on Titan getting an anime adaptation? Let us know in the comments section.
