wadjet-eye-2013-announcements-01

Fans of adventure games in general have been treated to what feels like a renaissance of the genre over the last couple of years.  Now adventure game fans have a couple more reasons to part with their hard earned money, and it’s all thanks to Wadjet Eye Games.

The highly lauded retro adventure game Gemini Rue will be released for the iPhone and iPad this spring!  This marks the first App Store release the folks at Wadjet Eye has seen.  The interface will be tweaked for iOS devices but the game will remain true to the roots that planted it so deeply in the minds of players to begin with.

Wadjet Eye has also announced the release of Blackwell Epiphany, the next title in the mystery-focused Blackwell series.  Epiphany promises to be one of the series’ darkest and most exciting adventures yet.

Expect more information to come to light regarding these titles sometime after PAX.  If you’re interested, be sure to check out Wadjet Eye Games’ website here.

Dynasty Warriors 8’s opening video revealed

dynasty-warriors-8-opening

We probably won’t be seeing Dynasty Warriors 8 in the West until sometime later this year considering the fact that Tecmo Koei has yet to announce the game’s localization, but Dynasty Warriors 8, or as it is known in Japan, Dynasty Warriors 7, will be hitting store shelves this Thursday.

Unlike the West however, many Japanese stores have issues not-breaking street date so a couple of consumers seem to have acquired the game early and have provided the internet with the game’s roughly two-minute long opening video. You can check it out below and keep an eye out for potential localization information within the next few months. Until then, Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires was just released in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 3 so at least there’s that.

Rumored Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag poster and screenshot point towards pirates

It looks like Ubisoft must have really enjoyed the whole boating aspect of Assassin’s Creed III because a number of leaked images point towards the fact that the next Assassin’s Creed title will focus on pirates.

The above image is a supposed screenshot that was discovered by Examiner and along with this screen the company came out with details saying that the star of the game is Edward Kenway, a Privateer and the father of Haytham Kenway from AC3. The game will be set on the Caribbean and take place on the islands of Jamaica, Cuba and even the Bahamas.

To further lend to the leak’s credence, an unknown source has provided Kotaku the below poster which is set to be displayed in stores on March 4th. Rumors have been circulating that Ubisoft will be holding an Assassin’s Creed event on February 27th, which happens to be tomorrow, so we should know more by then.

If you thought that having just one Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus on the Vita was enough then you haven’t seen what Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus has in store for you, besides an awkward sounding name. Today if you happen to check game shelves or the PlayStation Store then you’ll notice that Tecmo Koei’s port of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 has now become available for purchase exclusively on the Vita.

To show off the game’s features, the company also released a new launch trailer showing off the new additions to the title such as Ninja Race mode, how new costumes have been added to the game and the graphical improvements made since the original upgraded version was released in ’09.

Gears of War: Judgement to feature a season pass

Gears-of-War-Judgment-characters

When they announce a game for release, they may as well just announce the season pass right alongside the thing now, since practically every triple-A title nowadays features an season pass of some kind. The latest game to get a season pass is Gears of War: Judgement. The pass will be available when the game is launched on March 19th and the pass will cost 1600 MSP ($20) which will be 20% cheaper than buying everything separately.

The season pass will apparently offer six maps, nine unlocks and two new modes over time and anyone who does buy it will get early access to maps and weapon and armor skins as well as a permanent double XP boost because no one loves gating off an online community into small groups of players who don’t buy a season pass and those who do more than Epic.

Uncharted 3 multiplayer released as free-to-play

uncharted-3-multiplayer

If you haven’t bought Uncharted 3 and still want to try out the game’s multiplayer then we have some good news for you. Today the Uncharted 3 multiplayer was released as a free download on the PlayStation Network where players can download the multiplayer only and play as many competitive matches as they want.

There are a few limitations though, namely that the level cap is 15 for free-to-play users. Though if you want to play beyond that, you can pay some dough. Leveling up to 25 will cost $4.99 while a complete level cap removal will cost $19.99. As for co-op, the Co-op arena and co-op adventures are priced at $9.99 and $11.99 respectively.

Interestingly enough, while the multiplayer certainly is a nice thing to try at it’s current free-to-play model, Uncharted 3’s Game of the Year edition regularly sells for under $20 brand new, so before you think about dropping almost $40 in expansion content, take a look at you’re local newspaper for some sales.

The Final Week of Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Battle Arena, Round 1

Injustice-Battle-Arena-Week-4-01

The final week of the opening round of Injustice’s Battle Arena is in play, and it’s a doozy; Superman has made his belated entry into the tournament. And two new characters are also entering the fold!

One of those is the fear mongering and controlling Sinestro, arch-nemesis to the Green Lantern, but the opposition to Superman in this round of the Battle Arena. We know Superman is vulnerable to magic, but unfortunately for Sinestro, his yellow ring of fear has been established as a product of advanced technology, not magic…and, to make things worse for him, Superman has no true fears and will not play into Sinestro’s attempted influence. Is there any way for Superman to lose this battle…?

The second battle is between the tricky expert marksman Green Arrow and the other newly revealed character, the gravity defying wielder of the Nth metal mace, Hawkgirl. This fight is much more contentious as Green Arrow has so many trick arrows to keep Hawkgirl at a distance and theoretically shut her flight and attack down, but Hawkgirl is brutal, resilient and quick-healing. Close up, Green Arrow doesn’t have a chance. Who do you think would win?

For everyone who isn’t up to date, check out the winners of week 3, week 2 and week 1. The video below features CW’s Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, offering his predictions and reasoning for them. Guess who he chose as the winner of the first bout…
