devil-survivor-2-sentai-01

Sentai Filmworks has announced that it has licensed the currently-airing anime Devil Survivor 2 The Animation. The series will be released digitally followed by a home video release later in the year.

In a similar vein to the Persona 4 anime, Devil Survivor 2 is an anime adaptation of the video game Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 by Atlus. Both deal with supernatural forces and a group of friends who try to stop them with newly acquired powers. Check out our Anime Say! on what we think of this adaptation so far!

In the story Japan is attacked by demons known as the Septentriones. Following near-death, a group of friends make a pact with the devil to become the Thirteen Devil Messengers who summon beasts from their mobile phones. However, a secret government organisation is aware of the Septentriones and has been combating this threat for a long time.

The Devil is a Part Timer Full Opening Added

The-Devil-is-a-Part-Timer-01

The Devil is a Part Timer is set to receive a proper full opening as of episode five.

Due to production issues regarding intro sequence, The Devil is a Part Timer has not had a true opening sequence.

The episodes have instead featured no opening at all. A “special version” placeholder introduction will be used for episodes three and four.

The production team wrote the following statement in regards to the opening theme issues the series has been faced with:

“Devil Sama Working”  TV anime started broadcasting in April, and received a huge response. Thanks, all the staff are very pleased. On account of production issues on the opening picture, the broadcasting of a special edition intro will air. For formal opening picture, it becomes the air from the fifth story. To everyone that is looking forward to the broadcasting, sorry to keep you waiting.”

Attack-On-Titan-chibi-screen-0The official Attack On Titan site has started posting Chimi-Chara type comic strips set as a manga spinoff and usually is shown after each new episode airs in Japan. It’s probably a good idea considering how intense the main series is, not a lot can bring you back from watching people get devoured by giants but this MIGHT. The cute, little manga is only available for a week after each episode is aired so get in quick!

Now that these little chibi comics are being released weekly we’ve seen a hug spike in Attack On Titan merchandise; some posters and keychains but we will mostly see this Chimi-Chara style of design in the new gear to soon be released.

SyFy Announces Cosplay Reality TV Show

SyFy-01

SyFy has announced that they intend to release a reality TV series focused on the world of cosplay. The six episode “docuseries” will set a group of cosplayers against one another in a race to impress convention judges.

“Cosworld is a tantalizing six-episode docuseries that lifts the veil on the imaginative world of cosplay competition. The series follows some of the hottest cosplay stars as they make a splash at comic book conventions around the country. The show dives deep into their lives, following their process as they create extravagant and visually arresting costumes each week. These individuals will constantly defy odds and race against the clock to transform themselves into amazing fictional characters that push the boundaries between fantasy and reality, all in hopes of impressing the convention judges to win a cash prize and the chance to become a cosplay legend.”

Along the similar vein is a reality show which focuses on fangirl/fanboy culture.

“From the producer of Jersey Shore comes Fandemonium – a six-part docuseries that celebrates the incredibly unique, often misunderstood, and infinitely fascinating fan girl and fan boy culture. Living together in an LA apartment complex, a tight-knit group of pop culture-obsessed fans continue to find their place in the world and flourish, thanks to their passions and personalities. Whether it’s being first in line for the latest blockbuster, making a lasting impression upon getting the chance to meet their heroes, or just figuring out how to balance their passions with making a living – when these friends get together, it’s flat out Fandemonium.”

Will this kind of show be worth watching? Guess we’ll have to wait until the shows are revealed.

aku-no-hana-screen-1
Sentai Filmworks is gearing up for a “corrupt pure-love story” now that it’s acquired the license to the “Flowers of Evil” or “Aku No Hana” anime. The series, which will run for 13 episodes, is due out soon and you can get your fill of it through select Digital outlets if you can’t wait for the home video release that’ll be coming out later this year.

The anime will be based off of the original manga created by Shuzo Osahimi and will be directed by Hiroshi Nagahama who also did Mushi-Shi and Detroit Metal City. Aki Itami will be doing series composition and Hidekazu Shimamura on characters. Don’t forget there will be a butt-load of rotoscoping.

Sentai Press Release Synopsis:

Darkness lurks everywhere, in every human heart, and sometimes it takes just a second of weakness for it to take root.  For Takao Kasuga, that germination begins when his obsession with his beautiful classmate Nanako meets the opportunity to “borrow” her used gym clothes.  Unfortunately, his loathsome act of laundry theft is witnessed by Nakamura, the strange girl who sits behind him in class.  Soon, Nakamura’s own dark obsessions begin to hook their twisted tendrils into Takao’s miserable existence.  Blackmailed into a “contract” under the threat of having his guilt revealed to his entire class, the former bookworm who could spend hours reading Beaudelaire’s “The Flowers of Evil” now finds himself entwined in Nakamura’s growing fantasies as she leads him down the garden path to damnation.  As their blossoming relationship becomes ever darker, even the seemingly innocent Nanako is pulled into the nightmare.  Just what are Nakamura’s ultimate plans, and will the increasingly trapped Takao really be willing to carry them out?  What you sow, you must ultimately reap, and there’s certain to be a harrowing harvest ahead in FLOWERS OF EVIL!

Razer Honors Unauthorised 90% Coupon

good-guy-min
You don’t hear many ‘Good Guy Greg’ stories in the entertainment industry these days and even if you did this one would still stand out. Razer CEO Ming-Liang Tan has decided to honor an unauthorised 90% off coupon for thousands of UK purchases. With publishers these days getting greedier and greedier, it’s amazing to see a company to make such a kind gesture for the consumer.

Recently, an error occurred with Razer’s UK store that resulted in all orders placed to be 90% off. This was an unauthorised coupon that went viral and thousands of purchases were made. Legally, Razer has every right to cancel all of these orders as it would be a massive financial loss for the company but Razer CEO Ming-Liang Tan decided to honor the coupon with a few minor conditions. You can check out the screenshot below or see it yourself here.

Ace Attorney 5 Gets 3D Trailer and a New Prosecutor

Ace-Attorney-Jin-Yugami-01The next game in the Ace Attorney series has received a preview trailer showcasing the characters transition from traditional 2D style, into the 3D graphics of the 3DS. The trailer shows Phoenix Wright, once again the protagonist, along with his new assistant Kokone Kizuki, a rookie defence attorney and psychologist, involved in a case regarding an explosion at the courthouse. Apollo Justice is also set to return as a playable character.

The end of the trailer also hints at a new character, revealed by Famitsu to be Jin Yugami. Having been accused of murder, Jin is nominated to serve out his sentence as prosecutor. The image shown depicts him as saying “Heh, in order to cut someone in court, you need a sword called evidence!”

Ace Attorney 5 will be available in Japan July 25th, with plans for Capcom to bring it to the west at an, as of yet, unspecified date.
