main_600x400

Indie publishers Nyu Media has been working on an original 2d fighter called Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm. The development team includes three former SNK employees that worked on King of Fighters that have been working on the game for the past 6 years.

They are now turning to IndieGoGo to raise $68,000 to add some final polish, more fighters, new features, voice overs by TOUGEKI announcer Koori Masao, arcade cabinets for the Japanese market, and localization for the international market.

Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm will be available for Windows. The team says the title draws inspiration from Street Fighter III: Third Strike and BlazBlue. There is currently a roster of eight fighters, with hopes to add two new characters. Backers will be able to vote for the two fighters they wish to see added to the game.

Call the Shots in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

While the future of The Bureau: XCOM Declassified after it releases looks brighter knowing that there will be DLC coming post-launch, there is still a small ways to go before it releases in August. Which is why 2k Games has released a new trailer for the third-person shooter XCOM showing off how players will be controlling the other characers.

The new trailer for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is titled “Call the Shots” and does the trailer ever live up to its name. Showing off the main character as they call out movements, attacks, and equipment usage through the UI, there is a heavy focus everyone working as a team to clear out all the aliens. In fact the main character doesn’t have to lend too much of their own outside lifting a turret to get some hard to reach enemies, ensuring the focus of working as a squad.

Players can view the trailer for themselves embedded below to get a good look at the game and the UI. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will release on August 20th, 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Toki Tori 2 Miiverse Drawing Contest Begins Final Round

Doesn’t image above just scream day off? It better because it was the winning drawing for the Toki Tori 2 Miiverse Drawing Contest Round 3. Developer Two Tribes has gone through and personally picked it as the winning drawing, which means its time for the 4th and final round of the drawing contest for fans of the Wii U game.

The theme for this last round of the contest is Draw Toki Tori’s greatest enemy!” Players wanting to take part in this round can participate by drawing what they feel best captures the theme, posting it in the Toki Tori 2 community of the Miiverse, comment on the drawing with “#contest”, and finally collect lots of Yeahs. The top 25 with the most Yeahs will be in the running for Two Tribes to pick the winner.

The winning drawing will be announced July 4th and be included in Toki Tori 2. Players can check out Capsule Computer’s Toki Tori 2 Review to see how it is, while Toki Tori 2+ is currently set to release on July 11th (after another delay) via Steam for PC.

Aarklash: Legacy Shows Off Tactical Combat in New Screenshots

While the Confrontation licensed Dogs of War Online has shown off the first three factions, the other game under that same license, Aarklash: Legacy, coming from developer Cyanide Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive has just gotten some new screenshots to show off the combat.

Aarklash: Legacy sees players picking a team of four characters from a pool of 8 to create the best step up for their style of play. With each character having specific strengths and weaknesses, players will have to cover all their bases and if they run into trouble from one of them falls in battle, quickly rescue them to ensure the team doesn’t fail their mission. But don’t mistake this for an all out melee, players will be able to pause the combat at any time to plan out actions, which will be very important as positioning and placement is equally important to keep healers healing their teammates and not the enemy.

Players wanting to see more can check out the screenshots by clicking on the images in the gallery below. Aarklash: Legacy is currently slated to release in Q3 2013 for PC.

The Sims 3 Island Paradise Makes a Splash in Australia

EA‘s The Sims 3 Island Paradise expansion pack has splashed onto Australian shores and Origin today. PC and Mac owners can purchase the pack from their local retailer or through the online store here.

Island Paradise allow you, for the first time ever, to dive beneath the waves and explore what lies on the ocean floor, build and cruise along on your very own houseboat to discover uncharted islands or create and run a five-star resort experience. It’s a radically different experience to be had within the franchise.

Ryan Vaughan, Producer for The Sims, says;

In The Sims 3 Island Paradise, The Sims Studio has brought to life a tropical vacation for players to experience without ever having to leave home. With so many new gameplay features included in this game, players will be able to explore, inhabit and discover beachside bliss just as they would in real life.

Scuba diving below the water’s surface allows the opportunity to discover an aquatic world filled with sea life, collectibles, caves and sunken treasure. Underwater explorations can lead to many new adventures including befriending mermaids, spotting legendary sea monsters and potentially life-threatening encounters with sharks; don’t know if I’d call that an adventure though…more like a nightmare! The houseboat, meanwhile, is the perfect new abode to travel between the various islands. These are fully customizable, floating, liveable homes.

Management opportunities also arise, with the chance to reap the benefits of building and owning your own resort. Be it a family-friendly resort full of waterslides and buffet tables, a romantic retreat with bungalows in the sand, or a singles resort that features pool bars, players will make management decisions that will affect their resort’s success. Whether it’s adding in pools and fire-walk pits, upgrading guest rooms or selecting from daily beverage specials, players will be able to fine-tune their resort’s amenities based on feedback received from customer reviews.

And exclusive to Origin is the Carnaval Costumes Pack, featuring two exclusive outfits to make any tropical night more festive. Female Sims will be the life of the party in a feather-clad costume, while male Sims can spread their wings like a peacock in an ostentatious ensemble. If you’d like to see more before deciding whether to purchase or not, check out our gallery of the latest screens directly below, and this trailer which showcases the elements described above.

Colin McRae Rally Races Onto iOS Today

colin-mcrae-rally-screenshot-01

Looks like Codemasters has no plans on slowing down or letting their competition overtake. After releasing Drift 2 last month (check out our review here) and its Super Modified Pack DLC yesterday, it would have been safe to assume that the studio would shift back a gear and cruise around for a couple laps. Instead they have reached back into the garage, and dusted off their old classic; Colin McRae Rally 2.0.

After a quick engine test, a coat of paint and a nice amount of polish, Colin McRae Rally is Codemaster’s first rally game to make its way onto iOS. Peter Harrison, Senior Producer of Colin McRae Rally is understandably excited at the prospect and has said that;

It’s an exciting challenge to bring Colin McRae Rally to iOS for the first time … We wanted to make tackling every turn and jump of the point-to-point courses on your smart device as satisfying as playing those classic Colin McRae Rally games on home consoles of the day. We’ve worked hard to make sure that the physics and car handling systems let you feel the wheels gripping and slipping on different surfaces like gravel and asphalt. We’ve also paid attention to improving the graphical models and textures to look super-sharp on today’s screens, along with sourcing high quality engine sounds.

colin-mcrae-rally-screenshot-02

Featuring 30 classic stages (at a combined distance of over 130km) and a range of different game modes including quick races, full rallies and Championships, Colin McRae Rally looks like it will be the definitive portable racing experience. While the game doesn’t link up with Grid 2’s RaceNet, it does have its own leaderboards, challenges, and achievements. You can grab Colin McRae Rally on iOS by clicking here. ($5.49) Remember that for all the racing game news as it becomes available, stay tuned to Capsule Computers.
