The company Big Viking Games has started a Kickstarter project to help fund Tiny Kingdoms, a free-to-play RPG adventure game for mobile and social platforms. Instead of traditional rewards for backing this project, players who support the Kickstarter project will have unprecedented access into and influence over the game creation process of Tiny Kingdoms.

This project is the first of its kind to offer free-to-play gamers the opportunity to help craft and influence the vision and direction of the game by working with the games’designers before, during and after the laugh. Backers will be able to give their thoughts and ideas, as well as feedback on a large range of areas. You can back the project here.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Game Available Next Week

PlayFirst, in corporation with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, have announced that their movie-tie in mobile game, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2: Foodimal Frenzy, will be available for download on September 19 at the App Store and Google Play.

Coming to cinemas September 27, Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 follows inventor Flint Lockwood and his friends Steve and Sam, who must save their home town, Swallow Falls from his infamous machine (turns water into food) that is creating mutant food beasts.

The arcade puzzle-match app, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2: Foodimal Frenzy brings players into Swallow Falls, where they must rescue countless foodimals, including Barry the Strawberry and Cheesespiders, by chain and matching them in fast-paced, timed intervals, completing challenging goals and earning stars to progress through the edible island.

Activision Holding Skylanders and Call of Duty: Ghosts Giveaway at EB Expo

Those who are planning to drop by EB Expo are in luck this year as Activision are bringing their best, and ready to give it away too. The first of note is the Skylanders SWAP Force event, in which fans can attend the EB Expo Live Show on Sunday October 6th at 10am and receive an Exclusive Skylanders toy. Both Spyro and Kaos will be taking the stage as well, as well as a good number of other favorite Skylanders. These toys are limited, so show up an hour early to grab your rare and limited figure.

Next up is for the Call of Duty fans out there. While the event is more complex, you will have a chance to win one of 500 Call of Duty: Ghosts Prestige Editions.

Here are the details on that:

Sydney, September 13, 2013 – Following Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg’s announcement made during the Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer reveal in Los Angeles, Activision will give away 500 of the coveted prestige editions over the 3 day consumer expo as part of the Multiplayer World Tour.
The next stop on the tour is the EB Games Expo in Sydney, Australia. Activision will offer a chance to win the collector’s editions to consumers* who line up to play Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer at each session**. Once fans have played Call of Duty: Ghosts they will be able to scan a QR code as they exit the booth to see if they have won. A lucky 100 fans at each session could be winners***. All winners will be advised immediately and be able to advise their preference of console****.
The Call of Duty: Ghosts booth is located inside the Dome Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.

Card Hunter, a game of skill, deck building, and classic table-top combat, is now live and the best part is that its Free to Play. Classic fantasy adventuring meets card game, Card Hunter has already been met with critical acclaim.

Unlike other card games decks aren’t built from picking individual cards, instead the player equips each of their three characters with weapons, armor, and items, which, in turn, add an array of cards to the player’s deck.

The game can be played alone, in single-player mode, but shines brightest in multiplayer, where tactics and strategy prevail. Using a game clock, like one you’d see in a chess game, two players move units and battle until one of the victory conditions are met or until one of the players run out of time.

Though its Free, the game is filled with micro-transactions; where the player exchanges real money for Pizza. Yes. Pizza.

Pizza can be used to purchase new skins, random items, and gold. A subscription model is also available; subscribed players are granted additional loot after each battle. You can even purchase a “Basic Edition” with more perks.

If micro-transactions and subscriptions aren’t to your liking, the developers behind Card Hunters, Blue Manchu insist that the game completely playable for free. So what are you waiting for? Check it out here.

Disgaea D2’s ‘Flonezilla’ rampages through latest screens and gameplay snippets

As we’ve already seen, somewhere in Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness Laharl is transformed into a girl with an alarmingly large chest, much to the chagrin of Etna and Flonne of course, and we’ve also heard about how Sicily, a little girl claiming to be Laharl’s sister appears and wants to take over the throne.

Well today NIS America has released a handful of screenshots for Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness which show off not only female Laharl, Sicily and the alternate version if Etna, but also a couple of new combat snippets showing off some of the crazy moves you can pull off in this first ever sequel in the Disgaea franchise.

New Atelier Rorona compared to old Rorona in official trailer

As we already know, Gust is currently planning a complete remake of Atelier Rorona which will be called New Atelier Rorona: Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland and while we have seen a few screenshots of what the game will look like, Gust has released a full trailer for the game which shows how the game will look compared to the original which was released back in 2009.

Currently New Atelier Rorona is set to be released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on November 21st. Unlike back in 2009 however, if New Atelier Rorona is brought to Western shores, it will be Tecmo Koei handling the process instead of NIS America.

J.J. Abrams Won’t Be Directing Star Trek III

The news has broke and been confirmed by J.J. Abrams, himself, that he will NOT be returning to direct the next Star Trek, though will continue as a producer for the franchise. He stated:

It’s a little bittersweet. But, I will say that I’m going to be producing the movie. Whomever it is that directs the film will be someone we all know is going to keep the cast and crew in good hands. I feel very lucky to have been part of it, and it definitely feels like the right time to let someone come in and do their own thing. I certainly don’t want someone to come in and try to do what I would have done. We want to hire someone who’s gonna come in and bring their own sensibility. I’m very excited to see what comes next, despite feeling jealous of whomever that person is.

Abrams, who has worked on two Star Trek films; Star Trek in 2009 and Star Trek Into Darkness in 2013 will be leaving the series to direct Star Wars Episode VII, scheduled for release in summer 2015.

New Short Film by Makoto Shinkai Released Online

The legend behind anime films such as 5 Centimetres Per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices and more recently The Garden of Words, Makoto Shinkai, has released a brand new short film online through the Proud Box project.

The new film is titled Someone’s Gaze and it is available for free online for your viewing pleasure. You can watch the short film at your discretion below. The film is nothing short of brilliant as you would expect from Makoto Shinkai.

New DriveClub Gameplay Footage of Night Driving

Sony have released a brand new gameplay video for their upcoming PlayStation 4 launch title racing game DriveClub. The trailer features some intense footage of a time trial run in an Audi R8 V10 Plus.

As you can see in the trailer below the level of realism in DriveClub is unprecedented. The night driving is real to life and incredibly well detailed, also the Audi R8 V10 Plus is looking mighty fine if I do say so myself.
