100% Indie, a joint collaboration between Chillingo, EA, and Samsung, sponsored a Halloween themed survey. Gamers voted George Romero’s 1985 classic Day of the Dead as the film they wanted to see turned into a video game. Other popular choices included Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street. Additionally, Dead Space and Silent Hill were neck in neck for Best Horror Game Franchise.
“Zombies, monsters, villains and vampires provide rich content for gaming and have done for many years,” says Chris Byatte of 100% Indie. “Since ZOMBIE ZOMBIE was released back in 1984, they seem to have captured the imagination of gamers. We’ve seen a great number of monster and zombie games come through the 100% Indie initiative since we started in March – and hope to continue to do so!”
100% Indie is a joint initiative to help inspire indie mobile developers and provides the opportunity for developers to bring their game to Samsung Apps market. Interested developers can apply at the official 100% Indie website.
In less than two weeks, on November 14, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa will hit theatres nationwide, and I’m sure concerned mothers will be sending their letters of complaints to Paramount Pictures… but if you’ve seen Jackson Nicholl’s appearance on Conan, you’ll know that the kid is mischievous and devious all on his own.
Today, we don’t get to revel in the evil 8-year old’s antics, but instead go behind-the-scenes of two of the most commonly marketed gags in the film: the ‘Adjustable Bed‘ and the ‘Broken Ride‘. Directly below, you will discover how one soon-to-be mortified woman was suckered into the ‘Estate Sale’ offering of the “good as new” rigged bed. And embedded at the bottom of this article, you will find out just how tight Johnny Knoxville had to keep his ‘Window Launch’ from the propelling kid’s ride in order to avoid certain decapitation.
“News team, assemble!” Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will be playing across Australian cinemas come December 19, but before then, Paramount have offered us an interactive version of the latest trailer so that we can relive some classic moments from the first film.
Embedded at the bottom of this article, the interactive trailer gives us the “history of a legend that became a legend”. Ron, Brick, Brain and Champ don’t do a very good job of staying classy, but I guess it’s a case of ‘do as I say, not as I do’. Check it out below, and if you’re in Sydney for the 24th of November, mark your calendar for the Australian premiere.
At the beginning of the month of October a new game in the Rune Factory series was released and now that the month is ending with Halloween XSEED Games has released some spooky themed screenshots for Rune Factory 4 as well as a message for everyone with a couple of nice tips for some hidden scenes, especially those that take place in a certain haunted mansion.
The screenshots can be found below and as for the game itself, you can find our review for the game here. As for that message, it can also be found below:
Boys and girls of all ages giggle with delight,
For Rune Factory 4 promises to fright!
There are rumors and legends within Selphia galore,
Of ghouls and ghosts in the forests and more.
The cries from the Water Ruins frighten plenty,
But the hero must press on by royal order of Venti!
Bring Forte to a mansion for an extra scare,
But should you go alone, you’d best be prepared.
Entering fall Festival with pumpkins could fill you with dread,
But crafting them into headgear might be spookier instead.
For those brave enough to adventure without care,
Come see more of Norad… if you should dare!

A follow up to the 1992 Nintendo SNES classic, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the 3DS exclusive The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worldslaunches in Australia on November 23, allowing fans of the iconic franchise to revisit the magical land of Hyrule, as well as Lorule – its corrupted, parallel version.
Fresh dungeons, puzzles and mechanics are ready to be conquered, the latter enabling innovative new ways to explore a (partially) familiar, but reworked environment. The story begins with an ominous threat looming over Hyrule. Yuga, a mysterious wizard, has appeared, transforming the seven sages of the kingdom into paintings and sending them through to another world. With his home vulnerable, Link steps up to travel to the foreign realm known as Lorule in order to stop Yuga in his tracks and restore peace to his world.
Along the way, Link will meet familiar characters from The Legend of Zelda series, such as Princess Zelda herself and the elder of Kakariko Village, Sahasrahla, as well as new figures central to the storyline such as the travelling merchant Ravio, and the mystical Hilda, Princess of Lorule. Ravio plays an especially integral part in this tale. Setting up shop in Link’s house, this item vendor provides our hero with a helpful bracelet among other key trinkets, of which players can choose to buy or rent early on in the adventure, allowing greater freedom to explore dungeons in any order they wish.
Whether it’s freezing foes with the Ice Rod, or floating upwards with the Tornado Rod, many items will be pivotal to progressing through the fiendishly designed dungeons players will encounter. And thanks to Ravio’s bracelet, Link will be able to transform into a living drawing, adding a new dimension to puzzle-solving. For example, by merging with walls, players can see obstacles from different angles and are able to discover new features. But, there is a limit to this power, and after a certain amount of time, Link’s energy levels will deplete. Just ensure you’re not caught in a compromising position once that occurs.
A variety of subquests and minigames also await those looking to earn extra rupees and/or heart containers. Treacherous Tower involves Link fighting his way through a variety of enemies across a number of floors on up to three difficulty levels, while Octoball Derby (as shown above) sees Link step up to bat in a baseball-inspired minigame situated in Lorule where rupees are earned by smashing pots and knocking over enemies stood throughout the field. Once players have completed the main game, Hero Mode will be unlocked, in which Link takes greater damage from enemies when and the most intrepid of explorers may even find a small hidden extra waiting to be found somewhere in Lorule during their second playthrough…
Finally, for all Zelda fans wanting to show off their allegiance to the Triforce, don’t forget that The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Limited Edition Nintendo 3DS XL console also arrives on the same day, including a download code to purchase the game directly from Nintendo eShop, and emblazoned with a double Triforce design across the console’s shell.
Today Aksys Games has announced that they will begin releasing the Muramasa Rebirth DLC in North America starting in early 2014. There will be four new characters with their own playable stories in the game and the first piece of DLC happens to feature a cat girl named Okoi in the “Fishy Tales of the Nekomata.”
In this DLC players must travel to the shogun with a prized tea set, but when the family’s retainer attempts to take the tea set from them the simple delivery job becomes a lot more complex. Okoi will have an entirely different fighting style since she will use her claws and special powers to defeat enemies and once the player finishes the campaign they can even test Okoi’s skills against the bosses from the Muramasa Rebirth’s main storyline.
