Hulk Hogan Returns on WWE Raw, Hosting Wrestlemania 30

Hulk-Hogan-WMXXX-Promo-01

The legendary Hulk Hogan returned to the WWE on this week’s edition of Monday Night Rawand will be hosting Wrestlemania 30 on Sunday, April 6 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The Hall of Famer himself had some words to say on the homecoming, as did Vince McMahon;

Words cannot express how excited I am to be back in the WWE family. I only have one question for the WWE Universe: whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild as the host of WrestleMania 30? – Hulk Hogan

We are thrilled that Hulk Hogan has returned home to WWE. It’s fitting to have him help us celebrate 30 years of WrestleMania and usher in a new era with the launch of WWE Network. – WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon.

There are few people in the world of entertainment that have a truly “larger-than-life” aura about them, and Hogan is one of them. “Hulkamania” was officially born on January 23 1984, when he defeated The Iron Sheik to become WWE Champion at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Prior to this momentous return, his last WWE appearance was in December 2007, where he appeared at the 15th anniversary of Monday Night Raw. For those wondering why Hogan is not wrestling at the event, it is because he could not pass the initial physical upon resigning with the company, and so cannot (by the good conscience of WWE doctors/physicians) become an active competitor on the roster. It’s really for the best, as well as Hogan’s health, and great to see the company taking the health of their stars so seriously.

New Details and Behind the Scenes of Sonic Boom

sonic-boom-promo-01

Sega recently announced a new branch for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with Sonic Boom, featuring all new gameplay mechanics, worlds, storylines and most surprisingly, all new character designs. Today a behind the scenes featurette was released focusing on the development side of the new Sonic Boom game and also the television series which both feature intertwining storylines and settings. Developers discuss their first experiences with the blue blur, talk about what went into the new character designs and give us a first hand look at a voice recording session. The video also confirms what we previously reported, in that Sonic Boom is a new branch for the franchise rather than a reboot or replacement for the “Modern Sonic” universe and that the franchises will run paralell with one another. Make sure you check out the 10 minute video below.

While not entirely new more specific details about the game have been discovered which give some interesting insight into the games inspirations, story focus and use of the Wii U’s specific features.

  • The Wii U GamePad will be used to display a map and upgrades, as well as another function which is yet to be unveiled.
  • The game follows an adventure style with currency and upgrades for the characters.
  • The game is more “organically” challenging, in that difficulty arises from skill in combat and finding hidden secrets as opposed to enemies just becoming tougher.
  • All the levels in the game are connected by the story and its locations.
  • You will mainly use two characters at a time during gameplay, but all four will show up in hubs and boss fights.
  • There will be points in the game where you are required to use a certain character to proceed.
  • The game will be very character driven, with a lot of focus put onto each individual character and their unique abilities.
  • We will “definitely” be seeing other characters from the Sonic series making an appearance – these will be revealed over the coming months.
  • Inspiration is being taken from Sonic 2, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Generations.

Sega also happily announced the English voice line up for both the show and the game today, and while most of this is no surprise it’s good to see some official confirmation for returning actors.

  • Sonic                              Roger Craig Smith
  • Dr Eggman                     Mike Pollock
  • Tails                               Colleen Villard
  • Knuckles                        Travis Willingham
  • Amy                                Cindy Robinson
  • Orbot                             Kirk Thornton
  • Cubot                             Wally Wingert
  • Voice Director              Jack Fletcher

Drop us a comment to let us know what you think about these latest details and if you’re happy with the voice cast for the series as it has been announced so far. We will report more information on Sonic Boom as it becomes available.

The localization of Persona 5 was a given, the English release for the second Persona fighting game, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, was expected, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth might have been a bit of a stretch but we’ve seen all three of those titles given localization announcements today.

Now Atlus USA has closed out their day of Persona by announcing that Persona 4: Dancing All Night, the rhythm game following Rise as she returns to being an idol but still has to deal with Shadows, will also be coming to North America. We’ve previously seen screenshots for the game but now we have also been given some of our first gameplay footage which can be found below.

Following up on their past two announcements for Persona, Atlus USA still had more to give us as they have announced that they will also be bringing Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, the sequel, to Persona 4 Arena, to North America under the name Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax features the inclusion of Ykari Takega, Junpei Iori, and a new character named Sho Minazuki. The title is set to be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime this Fall and to go along with the announcement the company released a new trailer for the fighting game as well as a few new screenshots, all of which can be found below.

While it was a given that the next numbered Persona title would be getting released in the West, it was a bit iffy if the 3DS spin-off Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth which sees the cast of Persona 4 and Persona 3 thrown together in a labyrinth where they must solve a mystery and try to escape, would be coming over.

Well today Atlus USA put fans’ worries at ease by announcing that they are planning to release Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth in North America sometime in Fall 2014. To go along with this announcement the company has released a new teaser trailer as well as some screenshots for the game which can be found below.

Persona 5 announced for North American release in 2015

Today Atlus USA has announced that fans of the Persona series will be able to enjoy the next long awaited numbered Persona title, Persona 5, sometime in 2015. Unfortunately to go along with this announcement the company didn’t have a lot else to share about the game besides a new teaser trailer which can be found below.

Persona 5 is currently set for release on the PlayStation 3 and currently the tag line for the title is “You are a slave. Want emancipation?” and is described as following people who are discontent with their current lives. Hopefully we can expect to hear more news about the title in the months to come.
