Richard-and-Alice-Promo-01

Richard & Alice, the point-and-click adventure title from independent developer Owl Cave, will be coming to Steam after an established partnership between the collective and UK publisher Mastertronic.

The game, created by indie PR specialist Lewis Denby and Starbound lead writer Ashton Raze, explores the story of two inmates imprisoned in a post-apocalyptic future thrown into chaos by years of heavy snowfall. Players learn about the circumstances of their incarceration as a complex narrative dealing with family, loneliness and desperation unfolds; in short, expect “secrets, lies and lots of snow”. The Steam version with come with added achievements, trading cards, badges and emotes.Lewis Denby and Ashton Raze from Owl Cave, along with Andy Payne, CEO of Mastertronic, had the following to say about the mesmerising debut title finally making its way to Steam;

It’s a great thing to see Richard & Alice heading for Steam. This is a game we decided to make because we wanted to explore character stories in video games, and the original plan was for a small free game we could bash out and move on from. That we’re here now, writing quotes for the Steam release PR campaign, is quite something! – Denby

I am very excited to see Richard & Alice on Steam, because it meant I got to design trading cards and emotes. This was a lifelong dream of mine, and finally that dream became a reality. The game being on Steam in itself is exciting but TRADING CARDS! Seriously. The achievements were right fun too. You’ll not find things like this in a novel. – Raze

It is both an honour and a pleasure to work with Lewis and Ashton as we love Richard & Alice. We wanted to help bring their work to a wider audience on digital platforms and shine a few extra lights on this wonderful game. Narrative in games is a personal passion of mine, I hope this game finds its way into many, many game players hearts and minds. It deserves to. – Payne

No solid release date for Richard & Alice on Steam has been announced just yet, but keep it locked on Capsule Computers and we will keep you updated.

Nintendo Announces Mario Kart 8 Premium Pack Wii U

Mario-Kart-8-Premium-Pack-Screenshot-01
The w8 is almost over

With just over a month to go until Mario Kart 8 turns racing on its head, Nintendo has announced that a Mario Kart 8 Premium Pack Wii U will join the game on its May 31st release. With a suggested retail price of AU$429.95, the pack will include a black Wii U Premium console (with 32GB of storage), a black Wii U GamePad controller and the game itself. Naturally.

Set to feature 16 remixed classic courses, as well as 16 courses that are brand new to the series, both newcomers and veteran drivers alike will notice a rahter interesting feature: anti-gravity. This will allow players to switch it up a little and race upside down or up vertical surfaces. NOTE: Anti-gravity is not a regular feature of karting and should not be attempted in real life.

In addition to new courses, players will also be able to enjoy jumping into their karts as a number of new racers. Take Bowser’s minions for example…all seven of them. Each is now ready to race and bring a little chaos to the track. That being said, some players may prefer taking a drive with a more seasoned driver, say Yoshi and Peach for example. While you’re at it, why not represent the lovable dragon or easily kidnappable princess and pick up one of the specialised Wii Remote Plus controllers. For AU$69.95 you could wield in your hands the trademark symbols of Yoshi or Peach, an egg and crown respectively. Though if you’re buying the controller, I’m sure you knew that already.

So for those of you without a Wii U already, perhaps it would be best to wait and net yourself a nice deal. Perhaps a lovely little controller to round it off? Well, you’ve still got a whole month to think about it.

TownCraft Now Available on iPhone and Mac

TownCraft-03
Every kingdom begins with a single house…I think

Australian developer Flat Earth Games has announced that their building and crafting game TownCraft is now available for iPhone and Mac.

Set in medieval times, players are thrown into a vast wilderness and, following the logical train of thought, decide to build a kingdom better than all others. Naturally you must begin at the bottom and are only able to build the crudest of tools. But if you’re the kind of person who can start with a hatchet and end with a castle, you deserve to rule. Fish, farm, forage, mine, mill and explore in order to put your kingdom on the map and attract some travellers. Sell them your wares and net yourself a nice little profit…if you remember to build some shops. But when your stuck alone in the wilderness, what else is there to do other than build? Not much. Which is good, those windmills aren’t going to build themselves.

With a procedurally generated map, you’ll never be able to predict just where your precious resources will spawn. Think you know where to find some grapes? Nope. Remember a mine filled to the brim with gold? Wrong again. Isn’t chaos fun?

So grab your iPhone or Mac (or iPad) and take a casual little stroll into the odd world that is TownCraft. Though since you’re the builder, any form of weirdness is kind of your fault…

Well today Capcom made it official by announcing Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Ryuunosuke Naruhodou no Bouken, and giving us a look at both Phoenix Write’s ancestor Ryuunosuke, shown at the top, and a girl that will likely be his partner in the game, Susato, who can also be seen above. Since the trailers release an English subtitled version of the trailer has also been created by a fan and can be found below.

Shin Hayarigami revealed for PS3 and PS Vita

shin-hayarigami-teaser-01

If you have never heard of the Hayarigami games then we won’t hold it against you, since the series focused around supernatural horrors has only been released in Japan so far despite three titles being released. That being said, it looks like Nippon Ichi Software is gearing up for a new game in the series as they have just launched a teaser website for Shin Hayarigami.

At the moment the teaser website currently is only showing that the game will be released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita and that the full website launch will occur on May 1st. Considering how many titles NIS America has taken up and localized since the last Hayarigami title was released, it will be interesting to see if this game might be reconsidered for a Western release.

Filming Begins on Terminator Reboot

Terminator-Still-01

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have announced that principal photography has begun in New Orleans on the Terminator reboot, directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones).

The film, written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry), will star a returning Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as Jason Clarke (The Great Gatsby, Zero Dark Thirty), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jai Courtney (Divergent, Jack Reacher), J.K. Simmons (Men, Women & Children, Up in the Air), Dayo Okeniyi (The Hunger Games, The Spectacular Now), and Byung Hun Lee (RED 2, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), the latter of whom is rumored to be the antagonist Terminator.

Interestingly, “the Terminator reboot” is exactly how the producers are referring to the picture, neglecting the oft-used subtitle “Genesis”. It looks like a name change may occur by the time the marketing machine truly starts up. The Terminator reboot is scheduled for worldwide release on July 1, 2015.
