“And The Trumpets They Go…”

The joy-inducing sound of trumpets can be heard across the land as brand-new information on the upcoming Pokemon video game remakes “Omega Ruby” and “Alpha Sapphire” are revealed thanks to the latest issue of the CoroCoro magazine. The last big piece of information Game Freak/Nintendo released of the game was simply a teaser trailer showing off title legendaries Groudon and Kyogre which was met with some disappointment, but that was only because we wanted to see more.

Well you know how the old saying goes; “when it rains, it pours” and I think that is true because today we’re blessed with the unveiling of a batch of new game information that is sure to get your heart racing. You’ll recall that “Pokemon X” and “Pokemon Y” brought us the Mega Evolution of a fan favorite Pokemon; Blaziken. This addition to the Pokedex immediately had people wanting the other two “Generation Three” starters to have their own over-evolved forms but we were never given them…until today.

The first CoroCoro reveal comes in the form of three new Mega Evolutions: Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert and Mega Diancie which seems to have taken a few by surprise. Mega Sceptile joins its fellow starters and gains another typing when it Mega Evolves, becoming part Dragon-type alongside it’s natural Grass-type. The other two stay as they previously were. Mega Sceptile develops the ability “Lightning Rod” and Mega Swampert develops the ability “Swift Swim”.

No specific information regarding Diancie’s Mega Evolution was released but that’s bound to come up sooner or later as it seems to be quite the popular new Pokemon. Groudon and Kyogre’s cover art designs for the new video game have been confirmed as their Mega Evolutions though they were also referred to as being their “Ancient Devolutions”. Once evolved they then take on the names of Primal/Prehistoric/Primeval Groudon and Kyogre.

Alongside the Mega Evolutions comes the reveal of the male and female player characters who look similar enough to the original designs while also being obviously different. The same goes for the new designs of Team Aqua and Team Magma which includes their leaders Macie and Archie alongside their admins Tabitha, Courtney, Matt and Shelly.

Steven Stone makes an appearance in this batch of scans with a, once again, new but recognizable design and his very own Mega Charizard X which is sure to cause the player some strife when the time comes to take him on head-to-head. This is a tonne of exciting information to take in but make sure you check below the article for a gallery of all the newel-released images, each of which are labelled for your benefit.

This is looking to be one hell of a Pokemon video game remake and definitely one that will have the world unite in their love for a fantastic franchise in a way similar to what we’ve seen in the past. Put on your Running Shoes, grab your Mach Bike, start training your Pokemon and be prepared for a fight against nature the likes of which you’ll never forget. This is “Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire”, launching November 2014 on the 3DS.

Japanese Pigeon Dating Sim Hatoful Boyfriend Being Remade

Hatoful-Boyfriend-Screen-01

Independent developer Mediatronic – creators of Amateur Surgeon and Foul Play – and publisher Devolver Digital are coming together to bring a remake of Hato Moa’s visual novel turned dating sim, Hatoful Boyfriend, to PC and Mac this Summer.

Hatoful-Boyfriend-Screen-02

The original, limited release visual novel launched back in 2011, earning a loyal flock of fans who spent a lot of their personal time and effort translating the material and creating inspired artworks and even fan fiction. Fork Parker, Devolver Digital CFO, had this to say about the avian-friendly title;

Our research shows that consumer fatigue for space marines and dragons is at an all-time high – gamers are ready for something new and fresh. Semi-realistic pigeon dating simulations are the next great frontier in video games.

For those unaware, you play the only human in St. PigeoNation’s prestigious school for birds. Why is a human even enrolled in a school for birds? I think we have more important questions, such as how can a bird be a “suitable love interest”? Isn’t that illegal in most countries?! The makers implore us to “follow your heart as you choose your path and go on romantic dates you but be wary of fowl twists and turns along the way that could turn your love life upside down.” Well, for the zoomaniacs out there, look for Hatoful Boyfriend on Steam, GOG and other digital stores this Summer. Coo. Coo!
