Disney Infinity 3.0: Marvel Battlegrounds Out Now!

disney-infinity-3.0-screenshot-01

With Captain America: Civil War just a month’s away from release, it is no surprise that Disney have released a tie-in Play Set for Disney Infinity 3.0. The Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set is available now in stores across the country and will let you pit our favourite brightly coloured super heroes against one another in your own civil war!

Coming with a new Captain America figure (who has different abilities than the Disney Infinity 2.0 version) the Play Set works as more of a brawler or fighter than previous Play Sets, which I believe is a cool little change that will help it stand apart from the Star Wars themed Play Sets. The Play Set lets you use any of your Marvel characters and can host up to four players at any given time. Really the best way to describe it is that it is basically Super Smash Bros. with the Avengers. If that hasn’t convinced you to rush out and grab it then I don’t know what will!

Oh, and we will have a review of the new Play Set going up after the long weekend so be sure to check back for that! Until then, stay tuned to Capsule Computers for all the awesome Disney and Marvel news as it becomes available.

Official Pokemon GO! Information and Screenshots Released

Following a recent leak of Pokemon GO! footage, Niantic and The Pokemon Company International have released a few high quality screenshots and some new information about how the game works including buying Poke balls, hatching eggs, leveling up and perhaps most intriguing, how Gyms work.

As in the main game, the player can acquire eggs and must walk (or bike) a certain number of steps for that egg to hatch. In Pokemon GO! players will have to walk in real life to hatch an egg that might reveal an all new Pokemon for that player. Eggs and other items such as Poke Balls can be acquired at new locations called PokeStops which will be “located at interesting places such as public art installations, historical markers, museums and monuments.”

Developer Niantic has confirmed there will be battles, but whether it will adhere to the same battle system established in the main games is yet to be seen (we are guessing not unfortunately due to the complexity of the Battle System and this games market). Pokemon GO! will also have some sort of system similar to achievements with medals. By completing a wide variety of challenges from categories such as catching Pokemon and exploring you can earn these medals which then appear in your player profile.

Evolution is also being handled differently in this game. Catching enough of the same species of Pokemon will ‘give you the opportunity’ to evolve one of those Pokemon.

Now while all those points are pretty cool in their own right, the Gym system is what has me really interested. The Pokemon Company reports that at a certain point in the game you will be asked to join one of three teams (this could be a hint the game may contain a story). Once you have joined a team, you can assign one Pokemon you have caught to an empty Gym location or a Gym that is owned by the team you joined. Now if a Gym is owned by a rival team you can challenge for control of that Gym using your own Pokemon. That sounds great and is sure to start some great rivalries between players.

A few more details on the Pokemon GO! Plus accessory were also detailed. The device connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and notifies the player about events in the game—such as the appearance of a Pokémon nearby—using an LED and vibration. In addition, players can catch Pokémon or perform other simple actions by pressing the button on the device. Pokémon GO! Plus is said to be available soon but without a release date set in stone we can’t say how soon this will be.

Pokemon GO! will begin field testing in Japan very soon so expect to see more footage in the near future. Pokemon and Niantic stress features, available languages, design and overall appearance are not final. Pokemon GO! is due out sometime this year for iOS and Android devices.

Street Fighter V Update Arrives March 28th, Alex on March 30th

Street-Fighter-V-(106)

It is getting rather late in the month and although Capcom announced that they would be releasing the first update for Street Fighter V, the one that would add in some of the, usually standard, content to the despairingly thin game this month, it looks like they are waiting to the last minute to do so.

Today the company revealed that on March 28th the update for Street Fighter V will go live and will add in the “Challenge Mode”, the ability to have reamtches against online opponents, improve the battle lounge, and fix various issues. Then two days later on March 30th the new fighter Alex will be added to the game.

Street-Fighter-V-(104)

Oddly enough, the update will not add support for the paid money Zenny right off the bat so until then, Alex will be available as a trial character and to make up for the fact that the update is coming so late, Chun-Li and Ryu’s story costumes will be temporarily available for free. The company touts this concept as being “an 80,000 Fight Money value, almost the full value of a DLC character.”

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir’s Cooking and Alchemy Systems Detailed

Odin-Sphere-Leifthrasir-screenshot-(45)

Atlus USA has released a new trailer for Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir focusing on the alchemy and cooking systems that are available in the game. In this enhanced version of the game players will be able to merge existing potions to create different mixtures, something that they were unable to do in the original game. By combining different potions or food with potions their potency and variety of combinations can be increased. To top that off, players no longer need recipes to create potions and can now try and figure things out on the fly.

As for the cooking system, there are various “Rest Areas” that are scattered throughout levels and in these areas players can ask Pooka chef Maury to cook special meals for them to help recover heath and boost your experience gain.
