JAGEX RISING – BEST EVER PERFORMANCE DRIVES COMPLETION OF ACQUISITION AND THE FORMATION OF NEW CHINESE GAMING COMPANY
Thursday, 14th July, 2016 – 2pm UK – Cambridge, UK – Jagex, the Cambridge-headquartered creator of iconic Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) RuneScape, today confirmed that the Company has been acquired by Chinese investors with immediate effect and a new Board of Directors has been constituted.
The acquisition of Jagex is the first move in creating a dedicated, highly focused Chinese-owned games company within a newly created structure of a highly respected and well established local organisation, which is committing significant resources to the new entity.
The move will see Jagex propelled into a new investment cycle to charge forward with growth projects for RuneScape and its franchise extensions, while seeking out additional Mergers and Acquisitions opportunities to ramp up its presence in the gaming space.

Bonus Level Entertainment Reveals 16-Bit-Style Action Platformer FOX n FORESTS
German game developer Bonus Level Entertainment today revealed its multiplatform game FOX n FORESTS, set for a Fall 2017 release as digital download. The Kickstarter campaign for the 2D action platformer continues until August 13, 2016.
Rupert Ochsner (CEO, Co-Founder): “Our Goal is to reinvent 16-Bit gaming by merging a nostalgic look and feel with modern game design. We love retro games and the idea for FOX n FORESTS came up over 10 years ago. Now we are finally making our dream a reality.”
Holger Kuchling (CFO, Co-Founder): “The team of Bonus Level Entertainment grew up on games of the 80s and 90s, and some of us already worked in the industry back then. So we definitely know where we are coming from and what we are doing. The game is inspired by the glorious days of 16-Bit and all time classics such as Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts, Wonder Boy in Monster World and ActRaiser 2 as well as the Castlevania and Zelda series.”
FOX n FORESTS is a 2D 16-Bit-style action platformer with adventure and puzzle elements. Set within a mystic forest and its surroundings, FOX n FORESTS is a stunning fable offering pixel perfect retrotainment and rewarding challenges. You play as Rick the Fox and your weapon is a magic melee crossbow that can not only be used for ranged and close up combat, but empowers you to seamlessly switch between two seasons per level, completely changing the whole environment and revealing amazing secrets, tricky skill tests and thriving exploration.
Pixel perfect platforming, screen-filling bosses, rich bonus levels, powerful potions, bags of loot, stuffed shops, clever backtracking, challenging skill tests, a magic melee crossbow to shoot and slash enemies, upgradeable shots, not four but five seasons to explore, stunning 16-Bit pixel art, a catchy chip tunes soundtrack and tons of humorous retro charm combined with modern game design makes FOX n FORESTS a worthy revival of games from the Golden Age.
At this year’s gamescom in Cologne, journalists have the opportunity to interview the team of developers.

Starting its life as a concept demo by a group of students from Paris, Event[0] has grown into a full blown indie title that has turned heads at indie award shows like BIG 2016 and EIGD 2014. The game focuses on the relationship between the player and an insecure space ship computer named Kaizen. Players interact with Kaizen through text messages inputted in terminals located throughout the 3D space ship. To return home, players will need to develop their relationship with Kaizen and improve the AI’s self-esteem so both can return to Earth safely.
Event[0] may be driven by text interaction with Kaizen, but don’t be fooled, this is not an old school MUD game. The entire ship is built with Unity Engine 5 and parts of the game will require players to even leave the confines of the ship for a walk through space. More impressively, Kaizen responds to natural language. Ocelot Society estimates Kaizen is loaded with approximately 2 million lines of text.
“Event[0] is like our AI child: over the past two years it has grown from a vibrant but limited concept into a fully realized narrative exploration game,” said Léonard Carpentier, Co-founder and CEO of Ocelot Society. “Our team has created an evocative world for players to explore and Kaizen can’t wait to find new humans to become best friends with!”
Now, French indie developers Ocelot Society are ready to unleash their creation on the world. Event[0] will launch for PC and Mac via Steam and Humble Store this September.
The craziness continues, as freed from the drudgery of the Prussian Staff College, the intrepid narrator once again narrates. Has the Russian bear awakened, surprised, it’s dreams of honey and big, strong, manly grenadiers ruined by Blucher? Has Napoleon realised he has competition? Will the Viking descendants take revenge on Friedrich? Whatever will the rest of greater Germany think?! You can find where this Napoleon: Total War PC Let’s Play began here, and refresh your memory of the part previous here.
May 1805 Friedrich
Copenhagen is ours. The city reeks of smoke from the merchant ships burning in the harbor. I’m writing this from the Christiansborg Palace as I oversee the handover of control of the city. Rumors abound of Swedish columns marching to take their ally Denmark’s old capital, but not enough rumors to be a concern.
The last of the Danish defenders surrendered this morning, handing over their muskets. Standing orders were to immediately recruit them into the city’s defense force, so they weren’t without a weapon for long. They seemed relieved to have kept their lives. I’m no monster, and the city will be easier to keep if the residents feel well treated. Tensions are low.
Which is a relief, since word arrived from Berlin yesterday. Saxony and Thuringia have decided to strike at our poorly defended heartland, and sent a small force to besiege Berlin. I’m going to have to turn my army around immediately and head south, Christ knows we can’t count on Blucher.
The war is already starting to take its toll on our economy. Raids from nation states to the west have been denting our production capabilities, and in order to keep the masses happily marching up to recruitment stations we’ve had to drastically lower taxes. Luckily the upper class seems almost pleased to carry a larger financial burden…blood thirsty mongrels. Still, once they feel the bite of the taxman, no doubt they will whisper in Frederick’s ear to end this foolishness.
Blucher
I’m writing this from Jelgava, Courland. The Russians barely put up a defense, still reeling from the loss of their grenadiers in Warsaw. With fire and fury my men pushed them out of the city, and beyond the river Riga. Scouts report regiments massing in Lithuania, but they don’t yet possess significant numbers to oppose me.
My plan is a simple one. I will strike north, towards Estonia and St Petersburg, in order to cut the Russians off from trade flowing through the Baltic Sea. From there I will swing south, destroy the Russian army in Lithuania, before marching straight for Moscow. The Russians will be cut in half! If they display similar levels of skill as in Poland, this war will be done by year’s end, and I’ll be back in Berlin for Christmas. The plan relies on continued recruitment in Warsaw and Konigsberg, so as long as Saxony and Hessen stay quiet, I can continue my requisitions unheeded.
The defenders in Latvia were barely worth deploying to face. By the time my cannon had finished with them they only stood to a single volley from the line troops before breaking. My hussars ensured very few survived. Luckily a Russian force equal in size to mine threatened me from a secure position on the Nieman River. After forceful application of cannon, aggressive use of riflemen, and the flash of cavalry sabers, they were shattered and sent fleeing back to Vilnius.

These races need an entry fee and are limited to a specific vehicle or vehicle class. There is a different race each day and schedules will be posted weekly.

Additionally, players can visit their local shop to get decked out in some racing themed gear or inked with one of fifty new tattoos. Rockstar has also announced some fine tuning in the back end. A new helmet visor animation has been added and the Player Interaction Menus have been rebuilt.
Players who log onto GTA Online this week will get a free Black Jumpsuit in homage to Jock Cranley.
