Tutorials and other goodies for best-selling games launch new YouTube™ channel
Helsinki, Finland (February 26, 2010) — RedLynx has launched a new YouTube channel, RedLynx TV to showcase and support fan passion about its award-winning games.
The new channel highlights player-demanded content, such as tutorials, tournaments, and other video valuable info about great RedLynx games such as Trials HD for Xbox Live Arcade.
“Trials HD is our hottest game to date,” said Tero Virtala, CEO of RedLynx. “Ever since its launch, players have been clamouring for tips, tricks, and extra goodies. With this dedicated YouTube channel, we can reward them directly, developer to gamer.”
RedLynx TV will feature a mix of ‘official info’ and user-generated content created spontaneously by the player community. A great example of this are the Trials HD videos created for RedLynx TV.
These videos were created by John Lloyd of Michigan, USA, a dedicated Trials player and a graphic design/video creation professional, in cooperation with RedLynx. Lloyd’s videos feature tips and tricks, user-created levels, and the first ever RedLynx TV contest.
“John’s work had a level of dedication to the game we could not ignore,” said Antti Ilvessuo, creative director and co-founder of RedLynx. “Our games are about community, so we had to come up with a way to share this passion with everyone.
“We’re starting with Trials but we want to talk with our fans about all of our games, going forward. This is a great way to get that started.”

Although we haven’t narrowed it down to a specific month yet, we’re still on track for a release this year.
With that said we have a new volleyball minigame that’s headed for the PSN version of Castle. Here’s some of the finer points presented to you in beautiful bullet point technology.

* Variable stats based on character
* Use magic attacks to place 8 new magic status effects on the ball
* Cool new serving and spiking moves

We’ll try to get some screenshots going in the next few weeks or so, but it might get pushed back a little as we’re headed to Tokyo and Boston at the end of March. Speaking of which, if you didn’t already know we’ll be attending both the Tokyo Anime Fair and PAX East around the end of March. So if you’re in Tokyo or Boston come on by and say hello to us. It’s the first time we’ve done two shows on the same weekend so we’re very excited about that. Both BattleBlock Theater and Castle Crashers will be in attendance at both shows. New year, new shows, new demos. 2010 is the year of The Behemoth.

Who’s excited about Castle Crashers coming to PSN, also about Battle Block Theater ?? Let us know your thoughts 🙂
CyclonicPrism one of Capsule Computers community members wanted to share this unfortunate incident with all of us, and make sure it doesnt happen to any one of you.
Following recent misfortunes I’ve had on certain online games, I would like to take this opportunity for those PC gamers out there to take note. I’ve been playing World Of Warcraft for quite some time now and recently downloaded a few addons for the game.
The truth of the matter is, and you may not be aware of this. Even though you think its safe to be running these addons on your computer they are potential goldmines for people wanting to infect your computer with a virus. ( Keylogger )
If you gamers out there don’t know what this is then here is a brief description. Keyloggers are small programs invisibly installed on a computer that record all keyboard input. An attacker can use this to (eg) record passwords.
So whilst you’re thinking that the addons might be great for any game not just the one in question, but be warned that there are people out there intentionally trying to gain your personal information and steal your accounts/money or any other details.
What I would suggest for you guys to get round this problem is to make sure that all your anti-virus software is up to date , run regular system scans of your computer to check for these malicious and devastating programs.
I hope that this will be of some help to PC gamers out there and that you will continue to enjoy playing =) Have fun and play safe.

The Misadventures of P.B. WinterBottom Publisher: 2K Play Developer: The Odd Gentlemen Platforms: Xbox 360 Release Date: February 17th, 2010
Story
“Create your own paradox … for the love of pie. Enter a macabre and comical silent world filled with mischief, time travel and delicious pie in The Misadventures of P. B. Winterbottom. Record yourself and harness your time-bending abilities to cooperate, compete against, and disrupt your past, present, and future selves. Winterbottom’s debut misadventures present a whimsical spin on the notions of time, space, and play. Join Winterbottom as he travels through over 75 “movie” levels, causing mischief and mayhem in pursuit of the mysterious and elusive Chronoberry Pie on his spectacular journey through space-time.”[via Xbox.com]
You play as P.B. WinterBottom, who does everything possible to get his hands on delicious pies and doesn’t care who he hurts to get them. The game is a story of love, deceit, pain, and forgiveness. Ok, that last bit was a lie. It is actually a story about a guy who wants the pie of his life, but is instead tricked into a time paradox where he finds out all the wrongs he has done and the pains he has put onto others. He then goes back and uses his new paradox creating powers to fix all the wrongs he has done and the people forgive him (technically, he goes back in time and no one even knew anything was wrong; like I said ‘Paradox’!). Hey look at that, I made the story about love, deceit, pain, and forgiveness.
The funny thing is, that description says you are causing mischief and mayhem with your clones, but after the opening (in which you are breaking everything) you actually go back and fix everything while trying to get the elusive Chronoberry Pie. (By the way, ‘chrono’ means time, so the Pie is a TimeBerry Pie. It gives you all your powers so that you can fix what you have broken).
Will you be able to fix your wrongs and finally get your hands on that Chronoberry Pie?
Gameplay
The controls are pretty straight forward, even if the game is not. Move with the joystick, and record yourself with the right trigger. You can jump with A, float by holding A, and whack things with X. Like I said, straight forward.
This however is where the ‘straightforwardness’ ends; literally since you actually go back in time, which is backwards not forward. You must collect all the pies on a stage to continue and this is no easy task. Use your clones you create to help you as you attempt and fail (many, many times) in trying to get all the pies. More gameplay mechanics are introduced as you go along like switches that activate things, seesaws, and pies that you must collect in a certain order within a time limit. There are many other obstacles in your way while collecting your pies, but I don’t want to give all the surprises away.
There are over 75 levels in this platforming game for you to create time paradox’s in, and over 1,000,000 pies for you to collect (this is a made up number, but there are a lot of pies). You must collect them all and fix what you have done wrong in the future (that is not a typo by the way).
Audio
The background music has a very gloomy, old fashion feel. It probably has to do with the story, and how WinterBottom was very bad, and now he is fixing his mistakes.
The nicest effect would have to be the old timey recording sound, whenever you record yourself. The extra touch gives much more feeling to the game.
Achievements
A majority of the achievements are based in the extra ‘Bonus Shorts’ levels. These levels are harder than the story levels, and will require quick recording, and skimpy recording in order to get both medals for each level. Luckily, you don’t have to beat the time challenge and the recording challenge in the same run, but it will still be hard to get both medals in every single one. Good Luck!!
The Achievement List is:
Hungry Bottom – Complete the “Savory Salutations” movie level.
Ticking Bottom – Complete the “The Ticking Tarts” movie level.
Burnt Bottom – Complete the “Dangerously Delicious!” movie level.
Soggy Bottom – Complete the “Spelunking for Sweets” movie level.
Stuff Bottom – Complete all 5 movie levels.
Hot Pie Bottom – Steal 10 pies.
Thinking Bottom – Complete 10 recording challenges in the bonus shorts.
Smacked Bottom – Complete 10 time challenges in the bonus shorts.
Conservative Bottom – Complete 20 recording challenges in the bonus shorts.
Swift Bottom – Complete 20 time challenges in the bonus shorts.
Greedy Bottom – Complete all recording and time challenges in the bonus shorts.
Evil Bottom – Burn, smash, or erase 50 clones.
Overview
The misadventures of P.B. WinterBottom is a must buy for the puzzle aficionados. If you enjoyed the time bending antics of Braid, then you are going to love this game. Time travel and pie, what more could you want? I give The Misadventures of P.B. WinterBottom 10 Capsules out of 10.
Pros
Time travel and Pie! Hmmm!
Braid 1.5, though WinterBottom’s story is much more straightforward.
I’d pay $10 just to read the subtitles of each level! Those things were funny!
Cons
No cons, unless you want me to get real nitpicky. The game is well executed and it is priced just right. Unless you aren’t a fan of puzzle games, I’d suggest putting this on your buy list.
Optional
The game starts out easy, but becomes devilishly hard; it is amazing how hard it becomes. I’ve actually stopped and stared at the screen for 10 minutes trying to figure out how to do it. This could be a Pro or a Con depending on the readers skill level, and if they like a challenge or not.
Greed Corp Publisher: Valcon Games Developer: W! Games Platforms: Xbox 360 (Reviewed), PlayStation 3 Release Date: February 24th, 2010
Story
“Why share when you can have it all? Greed Corp is an online multiplayer strategy game in which you battle for dominance over a world once rich in resources. In order to prevail, exhaust all the remaining resources to build an army, and then use the depleted collapsing terrain to your advantage. An extensive campaign mode and multiple unlockables prepare you to take the battle online. Will you defend your territory or sacrifice it to keep it out of enemy hands? Manage the finite available resources to build your army and use the unique collapsing terrain mechanic to your advantage.” [Via Xbox.com]
The campaign has 4 different stories from 4 different perspectives, but the overall story is that you are trying to keep all the land for yourself. Other than that, there isn’t really much of a story. Does the game of Risk have a story? No, you just want to conquer the world.
Gameplay
Greed Corp is a very interesting game. Its main focus is on turn based strategy and I am going to assume that everyone knows what that is. If not then go here. The aspect that sets this game apart from other strategy games is the “Don’t Break The Ice” feel, I included a link for the people out there who don’t know what “Don’t Break The Ice” is (I asked around, and a lot of people have never heard of the game).
Like most strategy game, you need resources to build buildings or units. To get these resources you must use harvesters. Harvesters slowly break apart the land that you are on. So as turns go by, the harvesters continue to break the land. The height of the land determines how many turns are left before that piece of land will completely disappear. A cracked piece of land only has one more turn before disappearing.
This adds more strategy since you need land to make armies and move around, but you must destroy land in order to make money to build the units. How much land are you willing to destroy? I have played a game where the people had to start using air transports in order to get to each other, because each player only had 3-4 blocks of land they were based on.
Units can pretty much move to any piece of land that you own and is connected to the current land by any number of other lands that you own; however, you must be adjacent to a spot in order to go into the spot that you don’t own. The only exception to this rule is when using a flying transportation vehicle, you can land what you are flying anywhere, but if the enemy can overpower you, you will just lose those units.
The video pretty much shows everything I just talk about, and it’s funny as well! Enjoy the Greed Corp Launch Trailer
Audio
The soundtrack is comprised of classical sounding music. But is not a huge focus within the game. The sound effects are the main focus. Everything makes some sort of noise that signifies that it has done something.
Such a huge focus was put into the sound effects that each of the 4 teams has separate sound effects. If you wanted to, you could look away from the TV and know exactly what your opponent moved, built, or added. Only thing you couldn’t tell is where they moved to.
Achievements
The achievements are pretty straight forward, the first 4 are based off of the campaign, these rest can be gotten in any way.
The Achievement List is:
Lost in the Wave – Destroy an enemy unit or building with a chain reaction (Freemen campaign).
Island of Doom – Destroy an enemy island of at least 3 tiles by strategically placing a harvester (Pirate campaign).
With Cannon, you can – Fire a free shell from a free cannon at the enemy you captured it from (Cartel campaign).
Fear of Flying – Win a match without using a carrier (Empire campaign).
Global Warfare – Complete the entire campaign.
Moving Through the Ranks – Earn 9 titles.
Daylight Saving – Win a match without the time expiring in any turn (Skilled/Expert).
Got it covered – Build enough armed cannons to cover all remaining tiles in the map (Skilled/Expert).
Financially Independent – Win a match before the supporting funds go up (Skilled/Expert).
Use it Wisely – Earn a combination of credits, tiles and carriers as an elimination bonus (Skilled/Expert).
One at a Time – Win by fighting all enemies 1 at a time (4P, Skilled/Expert).
Manual Override – Win while only losing harvesters through self-destruct, own 1 or more each turn (4P, Skilled/Expert).
Overview
The combination of real time strategy and Don’t Break the Ice leads to a very unique strategy game. The strategy no longer depends on your units alone, but now also on what land you destroy to build those units. Greed Corp is a new strategic experience that is welcomed to the strategy genre. I give Greed Corp 8 Capsules out of 10.
Pros
The unique strategy element is a welcomed addition.
There isn’t a huge complication of troops or buildings you can make, so it is easy to pick up and enjoy.
As far as strategy games go, this one is one of the most fun.
Cons
There aren’t many things to build, and thus reduce your strategic options.
Many games pretty much play the exact same way since there aren’t different buildings or units to build.
Easy to pick up, as seen in the pros, but for more die hard strategy there will always be a feeling of lack of strategy due to there not being a lot of options.
Many gamers are eagerly awaiting 3D Dot Game Heroes for the PS3 Network and so are we at Capsule Computers. Want to know a little more about it?
Well, the character editor was explained by Atlus on the Playstation.Blog.
This game is looking more awesome every second!!
I’m sure MasterAbott will be making a Monk character for himself, even though a monkey would be more fitting. Shh, don’t tell him i said that!
So if you don’t have a PS3 and want a God of War clone; or you do have a PS3 and want that God of War fix before the release of God of War 3, then buy it next week at target. Not this week!
NBA 2K10, is also getting a reduced price at $29.99.
And finally, if you pre-order Pokemon SoulSilver or Pokemon HeartGold you can get a free free Ho-Oh or Lugia Pokémon. Don’t worry, I’ll believe you if you say you are only buying it for your brother/sister/daughter/son. I won’t judge you, I promise.

Official Press Release
More Than 300,000 Units Sold in First Nine Days; Joins Bejeweled® 2 as App Store Record-Breaker
DUBLIN, Ireland – February 25, 2010 — PopCap Games, maker of some of the world’s most popular video games, today announced that the iPhone and iPod touch adaptation of its award-winning game Plants vs. Zombies™ sold more than 300,000 units in its first nine days of availability, setting a new record for App Store launches. Plants vs. Zombies shot to number one in the units sold and “top grossing” App Store charts within 24 hours of its launch and remained there until yesterday. At a retail price point of US$2.99, Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone/touch has already grossed more than US$1 million.
PopCap also revealed that its flagship Bejeweled® 2 is now the first paid app to reach 3 million units on the App Store. Bejeweled 2 has consistently been in the top 10 of the App Store’s Top Grossing list. With the success of Plants vs. Zombies, PopCap now boasts 3 games (including Bejeweled and Peggle™) that have reached #1 on the App Store among a crowded field of more than 150,000 apps. The company’s other iPhone games, Bookworm™ and Chuzzle™, are consistently in the top 100 on the App Store.
Originally launched on the PC and Mac in May of 2009 to universal critical acclaim, Plants vs. Zombies has been expertly adapted for iPhone and iPod touch. Consumers who have purchased the iPhone adaptation agree, with more than 95% giving the game five out of five stars in the App Store’s rating system – making it the highest-rated product in the App Store. Plants vs. Zombies is proving to be a global phenomenon on the App Store, reaching the #1 position on the sales charts in more than 20 countries worldwide including Canada, China, Russia, Australia, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, and Norway. Within one day of the game’s launch, it joined Bejeweled 2 as one of the top five highest-grossing iPhone apps of the week.
“Plants vs. Zombies is our latest major franchise to make the jump to iPhone, and from the early customer and critical feedback it appears to be a great adaptation of the game,” said Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap. “There’s always a concern when bringing a computer game to a mobile, pocket-sized device that something will get lost in the process, but in this case the overwhelming consensus is that Plants vs. Zombies is even more fun on the smaller touch screen!”
