5

The latest episode of PlayStation Network’s Pulse have shown the top 10 downloaded PSP games.

1. Final Fantasy VII (PSP/PS3)
2. Final Fantasy VIII (PSP/PS3)
3. Tetris
4. God of War: Chains of Olympus
5. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
6. LittleBigPlanet
7. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
8. Madden NFL 10
9. Gran Turismo
10. Resident Evil 2 (PSP/PS3)

~~~
A very good list of games. Final Fantasy is a very good series, and the PSP port was well received. The big question, is how in the world did the PSP mini ‘Tetris’ get up there? a $10 price tag put onto a game that you can pretty much get on any website for free. Clearly we have a lot of people with bottomless pockets downloading PSP games.
Valve adds user-created items to Team Fortress 2
5
Over the years it has become clear that if you are going to buy Team Fortress 2 you should buy it on the PC. Valve continues to support the game with awesome content that you can only get if you are playing it via their steam client.
Valve have made this fact even more… Factier! You can now submit content that you make on their submit page. If it is approved it will be put into the game and you will be given a unique version to show off. All user created items will be added to the random drop list and everyone will have the chance to get your item. But remember! you had your item first, and yours is better!
Augmented reality coming closer to reality
7
In the video above you can see a demonstration of augmented reality on the PSP by use of the PSP camera and the  “Second Sight” technology which allows tags embedded in textbooks or magazines to cue relevant audio or video clips directly on the PSP.
Makes me curious as to how much memory is required. If every tag causes the PSP to download some sort of file to play does it auto delete it after it is done being played? Does it require a wireless internet connection to download the data from? The technology is quite interesting and this is only the beginning.
To aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun) Review!
OverView:
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun may seem a bit familiar to fans of a certain other series. That is because it is the child series of Toaru Majutsu no Index which was produced by J.C. Staff and shown on Tokyo MX. The story in Railgun works as an individual storyline before the events that happen with Touma, making it mostly a prequel work. Then again however certain plot points do cross over with one another. So as you may expect if you’ve seen Majutsu you will be pleasantly surprised.
Story:
Half of the series appears to be your typical slice of life Anime with some esper powers thrown in.  The girls will then do what they can to handle the incidents and struggle through them.  This is actually one of the high points of the story as it provides the viewer with more of an emotional attachment to the characters and understand the feelings and characteristics of the heroines.
The slice of life episodes may be a bit of filler but there is also the inclusion of the Level Upper arc and the follow up of the Level Upper arc as they pursue those who have fallen ill due to the Level Upper.  There is a lot of action happening in these arcs as Misaka battles many people who have been tempted by the easy gain of power and have turned evil because of it.
Despite the Anime being nearly half filler episodes they are actually not horrible filler with zero purpose. There is times that you will only understand what happened in the actual story arcs if you had paid attention to the filler itself.
Art
The time paid to drawing each character is very noticeable. They are very cute and there are no animation errors that caught my eye during my time watching.  In an Anime, sometimes the amount of attention paid to the characters can take away or help the overall enjoyment level and for this one it definitely helps.  The environments themselves that the characters live in are highly detailed and almost appear lifelike  except a hint of Anime flare. However each character suffers the “halo effect.” This is when the character has a circle of light reflecting around their hair looking like lights shining above them, even in darkness.
Characters:
The characters inside of Railgun are quite likable, and if you enjoyed Index then you will also enjoy seeing various recognizable characters.. You will laugh a lot watching their interaction especially in the beginning of the series. As the series progresses there is some character development, like Kuroko becoming a little bit mature in facing her problems. Saten becomes less obsessed with her “level” and realized that she has more precious things in her life. But my major disappointment is with Uiharu. At first she was a character that wanted to do her best to be a good judgment member but in the latest arc her attitude is completely change as she acted so naive and selfish which is a far cry from how she had acted throughout the entire story.
Overall:
The overall amount of filler in the Anime will take away from the amount of actual storyline progression here.  But there is a large amount of comedy as well.  Couple that with the amount of action happening during the storylines and even during the filler and you have the makings of what has made To Aru Majutsu so great, showing in To aru Kagaku.
Overall I give this 8-0-capsules-out-of-10
How Capsule Computers Picks the Winners for our Weekly Competition
It seems some people were not happy with how the last weekly competition turned out. I must apologize in advance, for some of you may not understand how the winner is picked and we should have explained it to you in more depth.
So I have taken the time to explain how the winner is chosen.
The overall selection is based on a random drawing, since we have many active users and it isn’t fair for the people who work and have kids to be left out just because they can’t retweet every tweet or comment on every single article on the site.
The random drawing is self explanatory, but what everyone needs to know is how you gain entries into this drawing. As you know there are many ways to gain entries: Retweet, comment, post on the forums. I will proceed to explain what gains entries and how many entries they gain.
Retweeting – 1 entry every time you retweet an article.
Commenting – 1 to 3 entries based on the length and substance of the comment.
Creating Forum Posts – 1 to 5 entries based on the substance (Reviews whose links are emailed to ‘[email protected]’ automatically gain 5 entries.
Replying to Forum Posts – 1to 3 entries based on length and substance of the reply.
The last contest drawing was based on this algorithm, and I clearly should’ve  explained it in more depth. Those of you who cannot regular participate will have a chance, while more participation greatly increases your odds of winning.
Finally to win you must be registered on the site !! REGISTER HERE.  If you have FACEBOOK you can also follow us on that.  This too will increase your chances to win as well.
Secret Armory of General Knoxx – Borderlands DLC review
Borderlands DLC: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx
Publisher: 2k Games
Developer: Gearbox
Platforms: Xbox 360 (Reviewed), PlayStation 3
Release Date: February 23rd, 2010
Story
General Knoxx, who is the general of the Atlas soldiers, has come to return peace to the once peaceful Pandora. According to them it is your fault and a few deserters that the peace has gone. They are here to stop you. You have become one of the most wanted on Pandora.
Athena has other plans for you; however, she wants your help to stop them, because you are right below her on the most wanted list. She wants your help to stop General Knoxx and the Atlas Corporation. If getting your name off of the most wanted list, Athena has promised all of the weapons inside of General Knoxx’s secret  armory.
Additions
“Borderlands goes to ELEVEN! You may have seen some games raise their level cap by 5, or maybe even 10, but with The Crimson Lance Assassination Squads wreaking havoc and Crawmerax the Invincible being all invulnerable and stuff we knew you’d need more than just 10. And that’s why Borderlands goes to ELEVEN! The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is an add-on pack for Borderlands that adds new guns, new Class Mods, new vehicles, new missions, new enemy types, and increases the level cap to 61. In other words…best add-on ever. Of all time. Forever. The End. ELEVEN!” [via Xbox.com]
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is a huge bundle! 2gigs worth of stuff is packed into this $10 add-on. Increased level cap to 61, a lot more weapons, more mods, more enemy types. If you felt the game was too easy after you hit level 50 than challenge yourself with this DLC and find the “Secret Armory of General Knoxx”.
Strategy
Friends are a must, tell your friends to buy this DLC with you because you will need them. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is a continuation of the story, but a level 50 character will struggle at parts due to the enemies being much higher level then you. Luckily the level cap has been increased to 61 and you have to make a choice. Do you level your character first and have an easier time winning, or do you punch through with a bunch of friends and enjoy the challeng.
Many of the enemies you will face will have giant shields with little health. The hunter with the ability to ignore shield is a huge advantage in the field, but without support the hunter is a sitting duck when surrounded by a bunch of enemies. So again, bring friends. I do not have a competent hunter class, I play as the siren. Luckily I had a friend who has a level 50 hunter that was able to help me play through the DLC, though he did die more than me.
Achievements – 10 for 250g
There are the basic mission oriented quests, and then the level oriented ones. But there are 3 achievements that have nothing to do with the story. “Sneaky Little Buggers” requires you to kill the loot midgets which are randomly placed in lootable locations. “Speed Kills” basically requires you to destroy an enemy’s ‘Monster’ while driving the ‘Racer’. Finally, “Sucker Born Every Minute” requires you to pay 7-8mil to take a tour of the world’s largest bullet. The game does not autosave here, so if you want you can return to the dashboard and get all your money back while keeping the achievement. But you guys aren’t that cheap are you?
The Achievement List is:
  • Making a Monster – Build the New Car: Monster
  • Athena, Out  – Rescue Athena.
  • Depot Demolition – Destroy the Lance Depot.
  • Vincible – Kill Crawmerax the Invincible
  • Sneaky Little Buggers – Kill each of the loot midgets.
  • Speed Kills – Destroy a Lancer while in a Racer.
  • Ding! Overleveled – Reach Level 51.
  • Ding! Overleveled to 11 – Reach Level 61.
  • Completionist – Complete all missions in Secret Armory.
  • [SECRET] Sucker Born Every Minute – Paid for a worthless tour of the world’s largest bullet.
Overview
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx is a great add-on to Borderlands that will remind you why you fell in love with the game in the first place: more levels to gain, stronger weapons, and bad guys to demolish. To top it all of it continues the storyline. I give The Secret Armory of General Knoxx 9 Capsules out of 10.
Splinter Cell: Conviction coming to the PC two weeks after the XBox 360
Many of you are probably enjoying the Splinter Cell: Conviction demo on your Xbox 360. Sadly PC users don’t have a demo, and I have even more bad news for you guys. The release date of April 13 only applies for the Xbox 360 version. All PC gamers will have to wait an extra 2 weeks to play.
Here is the choice you can make: play the game at a friends house when he buys it for his Xbox 360, or wait two weeks before you can sneak around and kill people. The choice is yours.
Switzerland passes violent video game ban.
The Swiss National Council has now officially passed a law that will ultimately lead to the complete ban of any violent video games in the country. Though the true implications of the law are still unknown until the government passes down the requirements of the law, which have yet to be decided upon.
What this may mean however, is that there will be a halt to production, distribution, and sales for any video game deemed to violent for Switzerland’s standards. Basically placing an iron grip around video game development in Switzerland. This will turn out to be a critical blow to any video game retailers in Switzerland, especially after their lobbying for simply stricter regulations on sales, has been denied.
This is very unfortunate news, because now that one country has passed a bill that could potentially silence any and all violent video games within it’s boarders, there may be more to come. Other countries now have the possibility to look at the outcome of this law, and see truly what type of an effect such a ban would have, and if they themselves should introduce their own ban.
What do you guys think about this ? Your comments.
Mass Effect 2 DLC coming March 23rd
2 DLC is coming to Mass Effect 2 on March 23rd.
The picture above shows the new costumes that come with the ‘Alternate Appearance Pack’ DLC. This DLC will cost you about $2 on the XBox 360 and PC.
The second DLC is coming to your guys for free from the games Cerberus Network. The ‘Firewalker’ will enable you to drive the Hammerhead hover tank, the pack also includes five missions that utilize the new vehicle. I’d suggest to everyone who gave up on getting the Cerberus Network working, to get cracking and try again.
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift shifting onto consoles this summer!
Aksys games, publishers of the previous game Blazblue: Calamity Trigger has announced that the sequel to their fast paced fighting game is arriving on consoles sometime in Summer of 2010! The game will be coming to both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
Blazblue: Continuum Shift will be bringing back the diverse and sometimes odd fighters from the first game, with a few new additions. Not only that, but there will also be three new fighters; Hazama, Tsubaki, and ?-12. The returning characters will have new fighting moves and the game shall also include a variety of new battle modes, such as a beginners mode and tutorial mode.
A list of the new features being presented in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift:
New Modes featuring Beginner Mode, Tutorial Mode and Challenge Mode! Beginner Mode encourages a wider audience with an easier control scheme, anyone can jump right into and play! Tutorial allows the novice and pros to practice everything from the basic mechanics unique to BlazBlue.
Challenge Mode offers advanced players character-specific combos and missions.
· Take over Kagutsuchi by creating your own army in Legion Mode!
Defeat the enemy armies positioned at various locations on the map. The ultimate goal is to color the entire map with your color by defeating all the enemy hubs. Recruit enemy soldiers by defeating them!
· Brand new characters, stages, soundtracks and moves!
Not only this, but if they also continue the tradition from the previous game, there will be a long and in-depth storyline for each character again, expanding further upon the vast storyline that each character has, with multiple endings all leading to a true storyline at the end.
Personally I can’t wait for this game. I enjoyed the first Blazblue game greatly and with the announcement of the sequel coming from the arcade cabinets onto consoles, I’m excited. I enjoyed this game more than even Street Fighter IV that came out last year as well. If you haven’t had a chance to play this game but are a fan of fighting games I would definitely recommend picking up the original game.
