Whats everyone think about this little bundle ?

Resident Evil 5… Oh I mean Zombie Infection out soon for the iPhone

I don’t know how they do it but Gameloft have the knack for developing games created by other software developers on the iPhone that look and feel so similar to the originals its not funny.  So far they’ve cloned up Modern Warfare and called it Modern Combat.  Next Grand Theft Auto took a hit was remade into Gangstar West Coast Hustle,  there’s even a Warcraft 3 clone called Lost Empires and most recently even HALO was recreated and called N.O.V.A.  It’s so similar that the computer AI even looks like Cortana.

Looks like the next game to get a cloning over is Capcom’s Resident Evil 5.  Gameloft have descided to call this title Zombie Infection. Check out the images below :

Now I don’t know about you guys but it looks like this level’s been ripped right out of the early African Level of Resident Evil 5.  I’m not sure what to say.  Look at the beef handing off the hooks and the Zombie that’s about to do its Resident Evil 4 & 5 trademark sidestep.

From what we’ve heard you even come across a female character that servers as your sidekick in the game by the name of Shawna ?????? Man does it get any closer to Sheva ? Well so far from what others have reported the game actually looks and feels very good and some people have gone out and said that Gameloft have actually done a better job than Capcom have done with Resident Evil 4 and Regeneration on the iPhone.

Now where I come from,  those are fighting words !! Looks like Capcom’s going to have to step up and show the world who’s boss of the Survival Horror/Zombie style games and release an Official Resident Evil 5 for the iPhone.  After seeing how brilliant the Street Fighter IV convertion was on the iPhone,  I don’t think anyone will question Capcom if they descide to bring Chris and Sheva to the portable gaming device.   Remebemer this people, no one blows holes through zombies like Chris Redfield does !! 😉

What do you guys think ?  Your comments thoughts and suggestions ?

Dragon Age: Awakening Ships Tomorrow

6

From the Makers of the Best RPG of 2009, Dragon Age: Origins, comes the first official expansion pack.

For centuries, the Grey Wardens-the ancient order of guardians, sworn to unite and defend the lands-have been battling the darkspawn forces.  Legend spoke that slaying the Archdemon would have put an end to the darkspawn threat for centuries to come, but somehow they remain.

You are the Grey Warden Commander and have been entrusted with the duty of rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens and uncovering the secrets of the darkspawn and how they managed to remain.

How you choose to rebuild your order, how you resolve the conflict with “The Architect”, and how you determine the fate of the darkspawn will be but some of the many complex choices that await and shape your journey as you venture to the new land of Amaranthine.

Who’s gonna pick this up ?  It looks very good 🙂

MW2 “Stimulus Package” Load Out

9

the Stimulus Package map pack is coming March 30th to the Xbox 360 first. The price tag set for these 3 new maps and 2 remakes is 1200MSP ($15).

Details on the Maps:

  • “Bailout,” a multi-level apartment complex
  • “Storm,” an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery
  • “Salvage,” a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars.
  • “Crash,” a war-torn urban environment.
  • “Overgrown,” which features a massive dry creek bed.

“Bailout,” a multi-level apartment complex
A confined location, perfect for those annoying people that run around with shotguns and knives. Will most likely be hated by snipers and those who like picking off their enemies from a distance. Hopefully long corridors will lead to some balance.

“Storm,” an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery
This level is supposedly going to be stormy, with rain which will reduce visibility.

“Salvage,” a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars.
This level will lead to some pretty cool tactics, only if the crushed cars are set up properly.  Snipers could nest into some strategic locations and snipe between the debris.

“Crash,” a war-torn urban environment.
If you have played COD4, you will know this map. Basically it is the original Afghan map.

“Overgrown,” which features a massive dry creek bed.
A fan favorite, that is liked by most COD players.

A $15 price tag will make whether to buy this map pack or not a difficult choice for many players, but the extra maps look interesting enough to constitute a purchase. If you are still playing Modern Warfare 2, then you might want to look into this interesting Map Pack.

inXile’s Hunted: The Demon’s Forge to be published by Bethesda

Bethesda announced today that they will be publishing Inxile’s newest game, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.

inXile Entertainment was founded in 2002 by industry veteran Brian Fargo. During his distinguished tenure in the video game business, Fargo has been behind some of the greatest fantasy game franchises of all time including The Bard’s Tale®, Baldur’s Gate®, and Fallout®. Hunted’s development is being overseen by Fargo while Michael “Maxx” Kaufman serves as the game’s Director. Previously, Kaufman served as Art Director on such titles as Kingpin™: Life of Crime™, Redneck Rampage™ and the award-winning Return to Castle Wolfenstein® at Gray Matter.

Bethesda Softworks president Vlatko Andonov was quoted saying:

“We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda Softworks on this upcoming release that takes us back to our roots,” said Brian Fargo, Founder of inXile Entertainment. “Bethesda’s track record speaks for itself and the game we are developing for them is no exception.”

“inXile has an extremely talented team and we couldn’t be more pleased to have them working on one of our upcoming titles,” said Vlatko Andonov, President of Bethesda Softworks. “We believe gamers will be really excited about what these guys have in store for them.”

This news comes after the disappointing announcement of Inxile’s other game Heist was canceled by CodeMasters.

Hunted: The Demon’s Forge appears to be a third person fantasy action game where you will take the roll of either E’lara, your standard ranged elf, and Caddoc your typical warrior class. However from all appearances the game looks very dark and the potential co-op abilities will be putting this game on my radar. However there has been no announcement of whether or not you will be able to play co-op online, though this is to be assumed.

An exact release date has not yet been announced, however a bit of the storyline for the game was released as well during this announcement:

The dark ages have become corrupted. Heinous creatures have emerged from underground. Townsfolk across the land are disappearing. Upon the promise of their fortune in gold, mercenaries E’lara and Caddoc take on the daunting task of discovering where the innocent villagers have been taken. Their journey will lead them on a dark and twisted path where they will encounter death, slavery, and sacrifice. Travel deep within the world of Kala Moor…and to the secrets of The Demon’s Forge.

Sounds pretty interesting, and it also appears to be a pure dungeon crawler. It’ll be quite interesting to see how they take the co-op, will it have echos RE5’s co-op abilities? Regardless of that though I am quite interested in seeing where this title will go. Anyone else really interested in this game as well?

EA completes maintenance on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 servers

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 didn’t have the best start after many server crashes cause people heart ache. No matter what you play the game on, ever version has had some problems while connecting to a multiplayer match. The Xbox 360 was kicking some users all the way out to the Dashboard and PC users were experiencing authentication issues with PunkBuster.

The developers say that all the problems should be fixed now, due to some bug fixes as well as new servers being put in. Xbox 360 users may experience some loss in data but it is nothing major.

Along with this fix there has also been released a Q&A at the battlefield blog.
Read the Q&A here.

DLC – the right and the wrong

There are many different views surrounding DLC. The views vary depending on who is looking at it. I will lay out some general viewpoints on DLC, and discuss them in further depth.

When a consumer sees DLC certain things run through their head:

  • If it’s free, it is picked up without question.
  • If it costs money, many people feel more then $10 is too much.
  • If it is released at the same time as the game and it costs money, many people won’t even buy the game because of it.

When a developer releases DLC, there are a few reasons:

  • They want to boost their sales and make more money through the DLC.
  • They didn’t have enough time to finish and release the rest of the game later
  • The game is good enough to continually add more stuff to extend the play time of the game.

The Consumer’s viewpoints broken down:

Free DLC: Pick it up! even if you don’t have the game or don’t like what it is for, pick up the free DLC anyway. DLC that is free doesn’t always remain free. After you download it once, you can always delete it and redownload it.

The Price: The price is a big factor that determines whether a person purchases DLC.

  • A good price is about $5. Someone sees $5 DLC they are more willing to look at it and look into if they want to buy it.
  • $10 DLC is looked at only if the DLC is for a game your really enjoyed.
  • More then $10, and it better be a bundle. A single piece of DLC for more then $10 will only be purchased by the wealthy. Or, you really really enjoyed the game, and the DLC is massive!

DLC released along side of the game: If it’s not free, many people feel cheated out of the game and they feel that the company is taking as much money as they can. This gives companies a bad name and companies should never do this! Many people don’t even bother picking up a game if the company Charges for DLC on the same day. What is even worse, is when a company charges for DLC that is already in the game, and all you doing is buy a key that unlocks that bit of content.

The Producer’s viewpoints broken down:

They want to boost their sales and make more money through the DLC: This is not a smart idea, you will make more money in the short run, but prolonged practice will cause a decrease in sales when people begin to realize that you are taking as much money as you can out of their pockets. Many developer’s reputations are permanently scarred because they practiced this.

They didn’t have enough time to finish and release the rest of the game later: This is fine, if handled correctly. Do not pull a chunk of the game out because you couldn’t finish, and then release it later. This was seen in Assassin’s Creed 2, where the developers pulled out 2 entire sequences because they didn’t have time to finish them. They then released them later on as DLC for $5 each. The price is right, but they were supposed to already be in the game, so you shouldn’t be charging for them. God of War 3, had to cut a chunk out of the ending of the game due to time restraints, but the developers are saying that if they get around to finishing it, they will release it for free. This will work for them in the long run very well. It will get people to hold on to their copy of the game until the DLC is released, and when it is released other people will buy more copies to play it.

The game is good enough to continually add more stuff to extend the play time of the game: This is perfectly fine. In games like Fallout 3 and borderlands, the game is good enough and popular enough for DLC to be released. It will keep the game popular as well as add more to it. The DLC that was added to Fallout3, and Borderlands is big enough to constitute being DLC. The armory of general knoxx was about a gigabyte of memory and only for $10. This is how you properly release DLC.
