Uplay Help Video

In Assassin’s Creed 2 you were able to gain Uplay points through certain tasks, which could then be used to unlock extras for in your game. Splinter Cell: Conviction also included Uplay. It seems a lot of people still don’t understand how to use the system, and Ubisoft has created a video to explain how you can unlock the cool items in the game in response. Admittedly, the Assassin’s Creed Uplay menu was much easier to miss then the Splinter Cell: Conviction menu, but I guess a late explanation is better then none.

Apple’s New iPhone 4

It’s been all over the Internet probably 6 billion times now.  It also made it on the news even down here in Australia.  Looks like a someone from Apple got a little drunk and accidentally misplaced the new prototype of the Apple iPhone.  It was picked up by Gizmodo and they have really given it a good working over.  It’s legit and it looks pretty good.

If you want to know all about it, make your way over to Gizmodo’s website and read all about it.  It’s a very thorough article and goes through nearly everything.

Alan Wake Interview with Managing Director of Remedy Games : Matias Myllyrinne

Last night Microsoft hosted a Community Event for a selected number of Community sites and fans to get an exclusive look, play and feel for the highly anticipated Alan Wake by Remedy Games on Xbox 360.

(Left : Remedy Community Manager Peter Papadopoulos and Right : Managing Director : Matias Myllyrinne)

Managing Director of Remedy Games: Matias Myllyrinnewas there to run us through a few levels of the game and explain the gameplay mechanics and story of Alan Wake.  From what we saw last night the wait for Alan Wake has been well worth it.  Graphically the game looks absolutely amazing, the attention to detail is outstanding.  The story feels like it has a purpose and is very solid, Alan also has a support staff of NPC’s that help him through the game at certain parts with combat but also provide great storytelling and dialog conversations which breathes even more life into the game.

Most importantly the game-play is outstanding.  Anyone who’s played Max Payne will feel right at home.  Using their proprietary Remedy Engine called “ALAN WAKE”, the movement and feel when controling Alan in combat is excellent, aiming your torch and using your selected weapon of choice to take down your enemies soon becomes second nature as the control system is amazingly easy to master.   This is perfect as it makes playing through the game even more enjoyable.  Unfortunately there is no Bullet-time  but there are some special slow-mo moments that happen when you blow up your emenies with flares and other cool weapons, hard to explain in writing but trust me its a pleasure to see 🙂

MasterAbbott was able to get an interview with Matias and ask him some questions about Remedy Games as well as Alan Wake.  Check it out below :

(Special thanks to Matias for taking the time answer in answering these questions for the Capsules Computers Community)

As Alan Wake won’t be available till 20th of May in Australia.  No pictures of Gameplay or videoing of the game was allowed on the night.  But we managed to get a great group photo right at the end before everyone went home.  He’s a before and after shot 😉

After :

Special thanks to all the fine people at Microsoft Australia and also Remedy Games for organizing such a great and very successful community night !!

‘Case Zero’ pre-release DLC is actually a stand alone game

Dead Rising 2’s developer Blue Castle Games has released a bit of new information about Dead Rising 2’s upcoming pre-release DLC called Case Zero. This DLC is exclusive to only the Xbox 360 at the moment.

Firstly there has been no announced release date, though as it is considered pre-release DLC we are safe to assume it will come out at least a bit before the August 31st release of Dead Rising 2 itself. Secondly, this DLC is set as a prologue to DR2, and will bridge the gap between the first game and the sequel, taking place five years after the events that occurred in DR1 and inside of the desert town of Still Creek.

The storyline itself will run a minimum of three hours and that is with rushing through everything the developer has stated. Though they also encourage the use of exploration and zombie killing, which shows that there will be thankfully no time limit coupled with this bit of DLC. Also they have stated that this DLC will introduce our new hero Chuck Greene, as well as his daughter, and the new feature included in DR2, item combining.

Additional information is that this DLC will also include a variety of new psychos, new survivors, and more zombies for the murdering. There has also been the hint of some type of reward for those who have completed the pre-release DLC inside of DR2 which brings back memories of Fable 2 and Fable Pub Games.

I can’t wait for this DLC, and am curious to see if they will include their own little batch of achievement points like they usually do for arcade games. Even though this is classified as DLC, I believe it will be released as an advanced version of an arcade game, and that would be awesome. Anyone else who can’t wait to get their hands on everything new in Dead Rising?

Never seen a crane game like this; vocaloid version

We’ve all seen various types of items placed inside of crane games. Personally I’ve seen everything from the standard stuffed animal, to working watches, to even video game consoles themselves. But this is the first time I have ever seen a crane machine featuring Vocaloid figurines.

Vocaloids are a product from Japan developer Yamaha which are synthesizers for songs and are used by those who wish to create their own music using the vocaloid program.  However these programs have also been coupled together with appearances and personalities which have flourished throughout Japan.  The most popular of which is Vocaloid S2 Hatsune Miku.

So popular in fact that she has spawned her own video games and many many music videos. There has been a multitude of figurines made of Hatsune Miku, and now she has been placed inside of a crane game. The figurine itself is 24 cm tall and also runs the cost of $50 USD, which is quite pricey for a figurine. Though one play itself costs 200 yen, roughly $2.

Quite interesting that a synthetic singer can be so popular and produce so much merchandise, while there are struggling singers in normal life. However the ability to create your own music without worrying on singing it yourself does leave open many creative paths otherwise closed due to stage fright/ability to sing.

A video of one of her songs made by a user of Vocaloid Hatsune Miku:

Ubisoft is getting rid of game manuals

In order to save the environment Ubisoft stated that they are no longer going to include game manuals in the game boxes, and instead have in game manuals.

Tree huggers rejoice! Gamers under the age of 16 scorn under your breath. Why under 16? Because you need your parents to drive you to the store, and that game manual was all you had to entertain yourself on the way back.

I personally don’t like the idea, no more writing rude and funny remarks hidden among the game manual that the next observant buyer will see when they pick it up from Gamestop.

The first game to go manual free will be Shaun White’s Snowboarding, who seems to be a tree hugger himself. (That snowboard is made of wood! Make up your mind Shaun!)
