Nintendos 3DS is here.

Finally it is here the 3DS ……

So what is all about Nintendo has finally lifted its lid on the new handheld the 3DS, It has two cameras just like the DSi and yes  pictures can be taken in 3D with adjustable slider to determine the level of 3D. The 3DS has two screens a large 3D screen and a touch panel (this is not 3D).  The upper screen measures 3.5 inch wide-screen display and shows full 3D without the need for any special glasses. This could be a good key selling point for Nintendo and retailers for the device not needing glasses.

The 3DS also boasts improved graphics which see the DS being brought right up to date in to the games market and also has several new control mechanisms which now includes a analogue stick and reports of a Motion Sensor and Gyro Sensor a mechanism which supports accurate rotation. The device will be backwards compatible with the DSi. Other features include the wi-fi connection will automatically be switched on which will feed data and updates to players around the world and is still free to use.

The first game that was showcased at the E3’s Nintendo briefing for the new 3DS was Kid Icarus Uprising. The last Kid Icarus was released over 25 years ago, and now it will feature exclusively on the 3DS. Other titles which are under development for the 3DS include DJ Hero 3D, Saints Row: Drive-By, Resident Evil Revelations, Batman, Assassin’s Creed Lost Legacy and Metal Gear Solid.  Check out the full list here.

Nintendo have yet to release any pricing or release date for  the 3DS  but it looks to be scheduled for a release date sometime late 2010.

Play as the Locusts in Gears of War 3 Beast Mode

What if you were on the opposite side of the spectrum in Gears of War 2’s horde mode? Epic Games will be bringing about that experience in the brand new online game mode called Beast Mode for Gears of War 3. Instead of playing as the fearless COG soldiers, you instead will be playing as the deadly Locusts. Not just normal Locusts either, you can play anywhere from a Bezerker with a shield, to the easy to kill but explosive Ticker.

Much like in horde mode you will have a selection of maps to choose from, but instead of fighting against waves of Locusts that come from all directions you will instead be trying to murder all of the COG soldiers that have barricaded and entrenched themselves against your assault.

What if your a Ticker though? Your job is basically a suicide bomber? Well that is all good as well because instead of having only one life, players will instead gain tokens for killing soldiers and then used to re-spawn when you die. Of course it means game over when you run out of tokens but that means all you have to do is kill more than you die.

Much like other popular online franchises though, you will not have full access to every class right off of the bat. Much like the class systems in Call of Duty, you will be able to select stronger versions of the Locust horde the higher level you will obtain. This means that at the start you will likely be playing as a normal grunt and a few of the weaker classes. Then while you level up you can instead gain access to the Bezerker, Cantus, and even a Blood Mount Rider.

Playstation Plus Introduced

Those of us with a PS3, rejoice because thankfully the details to the dreaded PlayStation Plus have been revealed and will be starting on June 29th, and it is not bad at all. Sony’s Playstation Network and online multiplayer will still be completely free of cost with zero additional fees down the line according to Sony.

If you do so happen to take part in the Playstation Plus, expect to be paying $50 per year of service to the PS Plus, or PSP ironically. It will also run in $18 packages of three months each. However when you sign up for the service, Jack Tretton stated that the first three months of service will be free. Also you will be able to access the following features as a Plus subscriber:

  • Exclusive in-game DLC and other content
  • Free full games, changing each month
  • Early access to demos and betas
  • Auto-patching feature, which will detect, download and install updates

Will you be taking advantage of this new service? Or being as that it will still be completely free to play online would you prefer to stay with normal network service?

Twisted Metal, smashes into the PS3 in 2011

So David Jaffe has been hiding a secret from us. Twisted Metal is making a return to it’s roots on the PS3 and it will include flight. You heard me correctly, flight. There will be aerial vehicles of all kinds available for use in Twisted Metal. Will this end up turning into a dog fight in the air? I certainly hope so. There is no release date yet except for some time in 2011. But I am extremely glad to see that this game is finally making a return. I loved every iteration of the game from the very first Twisted Metal for the Playstation 1 and Calypso was the worst enemy. Who else is excited with this one?

Playstation Move Has a Price and a Date Now

Looks like we’re going to be able to move it quite soon. The PlayStation Move controller has been set for a release date in North America this September on the 19th, in Europe on the 15th, and Japan on October 21st. Looks like Japan is getting a major jump on the rest of the world when it comes to Moving.

The price tag accompanying the controller will be $50 which isn’t bad considering the price tag of Kinect at $150. It will also be coming in a bundle with the Playstation Eye for $100. Plus if you were to purchase the bundle, Peter Dillie said that there will be a game called Sports Champions (Wii Sports) included.

Plus if you wish to purchase the whole console together with the Move, it’ll run $400. Of course it seems if you just want to navigate and not take full advantage of the full Move controller, it can be purchased separately for $30. The navigational part is the nunchuck seeming part of the combination. All of these prices are in US dollars by the way.

Not to be outdone by Nintendo with Holiday release suspense, Dillie also said that there will be at least 40 different Move titles available by the Holidays. Though there will be up to 20 different games set up to be Moved at the release date, which will run $40 each.

Epic Mickey Gameplay and Info!

Yet another Holiday release is coming with Epic Mickey exclusively on the Wii. Mickey will be making an extreme change from your standard Mickey Mouse that we’ve all grown to love. There will be characters drawn from nearly every Disney franchise including some of the various theme park attractions.

There will be the use of Paint and Paint Thinner within the game to change the world around you. Enemies can be changed to allies by repainting them as something different, or destroyed by using the paint thinner to erase them from existence. Plus if you change the environment around you, you can drastically change something later in the game by a few simple adjustments. Catch the exact coverage of Disney’s Epic Mickey below!

Donkey Kong Country Returns, literally

Bringing back the DK Krew is great news and Retro Studios will be taking a crack at bringing them back with Donkey Kong Country Returns. A trailer shown at E3 has brought about the news that Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong will indeed be returning to the Wii this holiday season. Sure are a lot of games being pushed back to the holidays this time around, going to have quite a lot of choices to make later this year. Catch the shown trailer below!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Announced at E3

Have you been waiting for a new Legend of Zelda game? I’m not talking about any simple DS game, but a full blown Wii game? Well wait no longer because Nintendo’s E3 Conference has just announced The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Nintendo Wii. The game is slated for release in 2011 and is set to be one of the largest in the Zelda franchise, following a more realistic path much like Twilight Princess. I love the Zelda franchise and it is good to see that they are finally making a new full console version, looks like I won’t have to be playing Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time when this baby comes out.

Catch the Trailer below from Gametrailers.
