3DS Pokedex… What is it ?

During Nintendo’s press event at E3 2011, they announced that they have realeased the 3DS Pokedex. What is the 3DS Pokedex? It’s a free downloadable application on the 3DS which allows you to collect all the black and white pokemon through street pass. This means if you connect to an internet connection or street pass someone then you gain a new pokemon on your 3DS Pokedex. You can gain up to 3 a day.

As the name suggest the viewer allows you to see each black and white pokemon in 3D and also see their statistics and abilities. The pokedex can also utilise the AR viewer so that you can see pokemon on AR cards as well as maxamise your chances of getting particular pokemon you want by looking up the AR image on the internet. This application is extremely fun, I just wish it had the rest of the pokemon from previous generations on it as black and white pokemon are not my favorites. Perhaps Nintendo will update the 3DS pokedex eventually but I kind of wish they started with the first 150 and went up instead of the other way around.

Patrick Stewart Loaning Voice to War of the Worlds…

War of the Worlds just got even better. Other Ocean Interactive announced today that they have gotten Patrick Stewart to loan his voice to the upcoming re-imagining for War of the Worlds, due out later this year on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. I think almost all of you should know who Sir Patrick Stewart is as he has done voicework for many of the Star Trek games, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and several other titles as well as playing the roles of Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men and Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: TNG.

“As a young boy, I remember watching the The War of the Worlds so many times I was quoting the lines,” said Stewart. “The alien invasion both terrified and fascinated me and the movie has stuck with me since then. Now, being part of this project will provide a new way for gamers around the world to experience a fresh new take on a classic.”

This news is huge for the game as Sir Patrick Stewart just seems to be clear choice for War of the Worlds and I can already imagine that deep and familiar voice narrating this artistic re-telling. Other Ocean have yet again proved they are pulling out all the cards for this release and without a doubt, War of the Worlds will be one title to keep an eye on as we get closer to it launching on both the XBLA & PSN.

Transformers Universe Trailer and Screenshots Released

Jagex in conjunction with Hasbro are releasing an MMORPG following the Transformers universe in Tranformers Universe, releasing in 2012.

The duo of companies has recently let us in on some assets that are related to the game, such as art and a video, which were also showcased at Botcon earlier this week. I quite like the art direction of this game as the Transformers themselves look closer to the versions shown in the recent cartoon (but still carry an unique awesome look) than the mechanical monstrosities found in the films.

Enjoy the art assests below and be sure to check out the embedded trailer for the game.

Rayman Origins Trailer is a colorful WIN!

The Rayman Origins trailer from E3 2011 is so colorful, it made my eyes bleed in joy.  Not only that, but my vocal chords literally screeched in delight.  Focusing on action platforming, the new Rayman certainly looks like a beatiful game that will be a sight to behold.

Rayman Origins launches at the end of this year for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii.  If you want to see some screenshots and interviews about the game, check the official website here: http://raymanorigins.uk.ubi.com/category/uncategorized/

Which game from Ubisoft are you most excited for this year?  Assassin’s Creed Revelations or Rayman Origins?  Let us know in the comments below!

Desmond goes wacky in new AC: Revelations trailer

Strapped into the Animus, you know it has your back.  After all, it has resurrected your time traveling memories countless times and it has helped you before when times get rough.  No permanent brain damage has yet occurred.  And yet, this time it feels different.

If the new trailer from Ubisoft is any indication, the above is exactly what you’ll be experiencing this Fall when Desmond takes his ancestor Ezio for their last ride together.  Check the spooky, creepy video below for more details.

Pretty crazy right?  This game looks to be even more epic than Brotherhood.  We didn’t see how it was possible, but now it appears that it is true.

Kinect Star Wars E3 2011 gameplay video

Star Wars shall always burn eternal in many a person’s heart.  And with the announcement of Star Wars for the Kinect at the 2010 E3, most gamers felt that that flame would get brighter.

And so it was that Microsoft’s E3 2011 press conference came and went but inside that press conference was a forceful video.  That gameplay video was: Kinect Star Wars.

Many feel good about the title. Many feel excited. Many feel happy.

Many feel confused. Many feel fear. Many feel anger.

Which path do you choose?

EA supports Kinect in a big way

At the Microsoft E3 2011 conference, EA had a tremendous showing of their support for Kinect, with the addition of motion controls to their sports franchises and voice control in Mass Effect 3.  Later on at the EA E3 2011 press conference, “EA SPORTS announced Kinect support for several of its blockbuster titles in 2012, including Madden NFL, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR  and FIFA.”

In the next year, The Sims 3 Pets and Family Game Night 4 will also launch with Kinect support.

We can’t say that we are really surprised that most of these games are getting motion control.  No, we are most shocked that Tiger Woods is still fronting a golf game.  That is so 2009.

Gamers watching more movies on their Xbox 360

This isn’t really surprising news, more and more people tend to stream content to Xbox 360’s from their PC’s and the rise of digital distribution also helps the statistic. Microsoft posted this just before E3, which was intended to flaunt strategic vision for the conference more than anything else. While people are still playing lots and lots of games, 40 percent of all Xbox activity now is non-game. Put another way, Microsoft is seeing an average of 30 hours of video consumption per month per Xbox, a number that is growing fast. In Microsoft’s original blog post, they tend to waffle on about how this has been their strategy all along and discount the fact that alot of this probably has to do with torrenting. It’s not exactly a “new era” of entertainment as they put, however I think consoles are going to become vital in the digital distribution of films and effectively phase out rentals in the future.

But it is an interesting statistic and probably something you’d find the PS3 shares with its competitor. Microsoft also go on to talk about other stats such as selling 53 million Xbox 360 consoles and that the Xbox has been the top-selling console in the last year. There are more than 30 million Xbox LIVE members and more than 10 million Kinects have sold to date, good selling stats hey? I’m assuming alot of people watch movies on their Xbox 360 more than anything, whether or not they were paid for is another question, one stat that Microsoft strategically chose not to reveal.

Cave Story 3D screenshots give us a better look at its gameplay

If you’ve been wondering how Cave Story will look like on the 3DS then you won’t have to use your imagination anymore. We’ve seen character art as well as box art, but now NIS America has released a handful of screenshots for the title which you can see below.

These screenshots show a number of different areas in the game, including inside of a lab, a temple like area and even an area with some grassy hills. A little bit of the game’s combat is shown in one screenshot as well. Originally developed by Nicalis and Studio Pixel, Cave Story 3D will be the first game from NIS America’s library to arrive on the 3DS and will be released on August 9th of this year.
