One of the few fighting games to feature weapons and to release early in the this generation of consoles, Soul Calibur is ready to strike again in its fifth game in the franchise.  Ready to have a quick look at the game?  Namco Bandai just released a trailer detailing some of the stuff you’ll be doing in the game (spoile alert: it involves fighting!)  Tell us if you notice anything unique or unusual in the trailer and it your ready to see more coverage of the game at E3 2011.  After the specially done Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur IV, I don’t know how they will make this game more awesome.  But I am sure Namco Bandai can do it, right?

EA Reveals E3 Line-up; Includes Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3 & More…

With just about every developer releasing their E3 line-ups already, EA have now come forth to show the impressive line-up of titles that they will be bringing to the show. EA’s entire conference will be able to be viewed live on Spike TV at 8:30 pm (UK Time).

And without further ado, the list of games that will be in tow for the event:

Battlefield 3
Need for Speed The Run
Madden 12
FIFA 12
SSX: Dark Descent
Mass Effect 3
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
The Sims 3 Generations
NCAA Football 12
NHL 12

I think I am just looking forward to just receiving dates for many of the above, but it will be interesting to learn just what will be in store for Mass Effect 3 and of course the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Old Republic. Hopefully we will see some surprise announcements such as Mirror’s Edge 2 (which has been floating around for about a year as a rumor) and even a splash of news for Dragon Age 3. Either way, EA are sure to pull out all the stops as every developer fights for those coveted “Best of E3” awards.

New Tracks For Rocksmith Announced

Ubisoft’s upcoming music rhythm game ‘Rocksmith’ has today unveiled some new tracks that players will be able to perform in the game. Unlike other similar music rhythm games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Rocksmith actually teaches you how to play the guitar with an actual real life guitar.

No more fake plastic controllers with large buttons on the end, any real guitar with a standard quarter-inch input jack can be used in the game. Rocksmith itself features dynamic gameplay that automatically adjusts to a player’s skill level, so even players who have never touched a guitar in their life can easily pick up this game.

New artists and songs included in the game:

  • Best Coast – When I’m With You
  • Blur – Song 2
  • The Black Keys – Next Girl
  • The Boxer Rebellion – Step Out Of The Car
  • Cream – Sunshine Of Your Love

  • The Animals – House of the Rising Sun
  • The Black Keys – I Got Mine
  • David Bowie – Rebel Rebel

Two Galaga titles comin’ straight at ya’… soon

This year, 2011 in case you forgot, marks the 30th anniversary of the Galaga franchise.  Being only 20 myself, I can’t say I ever had the privilege of experiencing the game, and my only  hope to do so is to make the acquaintance of the new games in the franchise.  Speaking of the new releases, lets get down to it!

Galaga Legions DX for PS3 and Xbox 360

Releasing in 2011, Galaga Legions DX  on the Xbox 360 and PS3 is being developed by the guys behind PAC-MAN Championship DX, the newest title in the PAC franshise. Said to make you rethink everything you know about Galaga, Galaga Legions DX will feature “fast-paced gameplay along with fantastic new features, modes, and graphics.”  Are you eagerly ready to take on the challenge of   “the most destructive and chaotic space war ever encountered?”

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions is the other Galaga game and it is coming to the 3DS. It will have players using the  gyroscopic sensor in the Nintendo 3DS system to play as a spaceship gunner.  Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions  is included with PAC-MAN Tilt, an original side-scrolling PAC-MAN which also uses the gyroscopic sensor for control of the hungry little yellow duder. Check the trailer below for gameplay!

Batarang controllers for PS3 and Xbox 360 to be shown off at E3 2011

As gamers, we all know that our modern consoles are awesome. But of course, Batman is also equally awesome.  Bring those nouns, Batman and Xbox or Batman and PS3, together and you might make some heads explode.  Therefore, you better watch for exploding heads next week, as Bluemouth Interactive is bringing  video game controllers to E3, and these controllers are modeled after the Batman’s signature batarang.  Officially licensed for the Batman: Arkham City game, the controllers have many special features.

First and foremost, they are in the shape of a BATARANG! I don’t think it is possible to overemphasize how sickeningly sweet that is.  LED lit, there are 7 colors that the controller can light up in. Dual rumble motors and soft-touch grips round out the experience, but that is not all these beauts include.

The Start and Select buttons are modeled with Batman logos, as are the PS Home, charge indicator and LED color select buttons. The PS3 Batarang is is wireless and also has motion sensors, rechargeable batteries, & a Batman-themed USB RF receiver. The four lights on the left side of the PS3 controller shows the remaining battery charge, the four lights on the right show which channel the controller is using.

The Xbox 360 version is unfortunately wired with a  10ft / 3m cable.

Releasing in time with the game, the Australian price for those wholly amazing control sticks is $69.95 RRP. Both are official Batman collectibles and original Batman designs.  Keep an eye for coverage of these bad boys at E3. Hopefully, Master Abbott or Travis can get some time in with them!

The special Dead Island preorder bonus items

The preorder bonus items for Dead Island have been revealed.  By preordering at Gamestop, players get a $10 value worth of DLC.  The DLC is called Bloodbath Arena. It is a single and multiplayer challenge pack that includes four different arenas. These arenas will feature wave after wave combat , with survival and the gaining of experience points being the ultimate goal.  The experience points can be transferred between single and multi player modes. The Bloodbath Arena is bundled with the brain wave bomb, a highly explosive weapon. The Bloodbath Arena DLC will available for all shortly after launch, although non preorder… ers will have to pay up.

The special edition comes with exclusive cover art and “the blueprint for a special weapon, called the “Ripper”: A destructive combination of a baseball bat and a buzz saw.”  Only peeps who preorder will get the “Ripper.” But they can share it with their friends, in some manner that has not yet been specified.

Dead Island is zombie slashing game from Techland, Deep Silver and Square Enix.  Look for it at E3 and on store shelves soon on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Battlefield 3 multiplayer improvements revealed

E3 may be happening in a few days but that doesn’t mean EA and DICE have to wait until then to tease everyone with the new features they will be adding to Battlefield 3. First of all they have added co-op play to the single player mode, something which should be well received and a good way to put themselves ahead of the Call of Duty single player mode.

But what it all comes down to is the multiplayer of course, and DICE had a few things to reveal about that. First off they will now allow players to go prone, be able to temporarily disable vehicles as wella s blow them up, mount their weapons and also add a Team Deathmatch mode to the multiplayer options. DICE is also working on something they are calling the Battlelog which will allow players to manage their “friends lists, squad up, create platoons, use voice chat and follow your friends’ progress in real-time, and more.” We will find out more about Battlefield 3 when E3 kicks off next week.

What are the Ubisoft announcements during E3? Also, where to watch the conference!

Stabbing, shooting and driving to E3, Ubisoft is bringing a whole ton of virtual content for us to enjoy at E3.    They will be featuring quite a few of their titles at their annual press conference.  For example:

Assassin’s Creed Revelations will be present at the show.  This is finally the final chapter in Ezio’s story.  Whats more, Altair, the most rad assassin of the Middle Ages, will make another appearance in this game.  The multiplayer experience from Brotherhood will also be shown off in the new game.  Needless to say, we are very excited to see how Desmond Miles continues his traumatic life.

Tom Clancy’s new Ghost Recon game, Future Soldier, will also be coming to E3 this year.  Teased quite frequently last year, this year, we expect that Future Soldier will be given a lot of coverage.

The new Driver game will also be at E3 in all its crazy glory.  The ability transfer to different cars by using YOUR MIND, and the intriguing story is likely to be shown off at E3.

A new Rayman game is also going to be shown off at E3.  A new Rayman you say?! Yes, a new Rayman.  Woohoo to the max!

Those are just the high profile titles though.  Ubisoft has many more games coming out soon, like Raving Rabbids, From Dust, Just Dance and Call of Juarez, just to name a few. What are you most excited to see?

Capsule Computers will be covering all the news from the Ubisoft press conference, but if you just MUST watch it to believe it,* then you can either watch the conference at Ubi’s Youtube site or at their official site on June 6 at 2:30PM PDT.

Welcome Back content now available on PlayStation Network

If you’ve been paying attention to your PlayStation products as of late then you should know that the PlayStation Store is back online now. With the PlayStation Store back online Sony has now launched their Welcome Back program. But you better watch out, if you bought a PlayStation 3 during the outage, meaning before April 20th, 2011 then you aren’t going to be eligible for the free content.

For everyone else, PlayStation 3 owners will be able to select two games from a list of five while PSP owners will have their pick of two titles from a list of four. When accessing the PlayStation Store you should see a Welcome Back option where you will be able to select your two titles from each console you own. You best act fast, or at least relatively fast however because the Welcome Back tab will disappear after July 3rd with all the free stuff it contains. Oh and the PlayStation Plus free month is also available now too if that is what you were interested in. In case you experience any issues with the Welcome Back content Sony has posted a helpful FAQ which should cover any problems encountered.
