Fray Teaser Trailer and Art Assets

Upcoming tactical squad based real-time turn-based strategy game, Fray, has a reveal trailer and some interesting assets to show off.

The game is set in a cyberpunk-esque future, the year 2098, and the world is apparently dying. Mega corporations have pretty much taken over the governments, as well as turning the world into an overheated and underparched craphole. To escape from these conditions, people become immersed in a game known as ‘Fray’ which is a cyber tournament where players combat each other for benefits.

I must say that this game looks very promising from what I’ve seen of it.Enjoy these assets, and the trailer linked underneath.

Be sure to check out the games official site.

Metal Gear Solid Fan Film Metal Gear Office

This fan film, based on the popular franchise Metal Gear Solid, is amazingly hilarious. It features a now redundant Solid Snake working in an office that has an interesting group of employees within. The video features many of the effects and other well known features of the games. Sadly, I didn’t see a box reference, but the short is still hilarious even without it.

Be sure to check out the hilarious video parodying both Metal Gear Solid and possibly The Office below.

Special thanks to Topless Robot where I originally found this video.

Deadman Wonderland and Steins;Gate acquired by FUNimation

In another large announcement today FUNimation also announced that they have picked up the rights to both Deadman Wonderland and Steins;Gate in the United States. This means that FUNimation has the right to distribute both of these anime through any means that they choose to do so, which means that these anime will be localized sometime in the near future.

Deadman Wonderland is an adaptation of Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou’s manga of the same name. The twelve episode series just ended in Japan this month and is set after the destruction of Tokyo by an earthquake and follows the story of Ganta Igarashi, a middle school student who has been framed for the murder of his fellow classmates. Because of this, he has been sent to Deadman Wonderland, a brutal privately operated prison that is also a twisted tourist destination.

Steins;Gate on the other hand was based on the visual novel and adventure game created by 5pb and Nitroplus. Steins;Gate comes from the same company that created Chaos;Head, the anime was produced by White Fox and also aired earlier this year.

The story of the game the anime is based off follows college student Rintarō Okabe. The series takes place in a realistic version of the Akihabara district. Okabe and his friends have turned a microwave into some sort of machine that sends out messages to the past. Their invention has attracted the attention of a mysterious group known as SERN. The anime aired earlier this year in Japan and just wrapped up this month.

FUNimation acquires distribution rights for [C] Control The Money and Soul of Possibility

FUNimation has already been streaming [C] -Control- The Money and Soul of Possibility on their website ever since they partnered with Fuji Television for the exclusive rights to do so. Today FUNimation acquired more than just the streaming rights however, as they now also own the rights of distribution for the original series into the United States. These rights include distribution through digital methods, broadcast and home entertainment.

There has not been any date given as to when we could expect a home release of [C], but one can expect it in the months to come. [C] is produced by Tatsunoko Production and was directed by Kenji Nakamura. [C] takes place in a world where the Japanese Government has been rescued from collapse by the Sovereign Wealth Fund, however there is a reason that the Sovereign Wealth Fund helps out countries. The story follows a boy named Kimimaro who is struggling to make ends meet and live a stable life, until one day a strange man offers him a large amount of money at the cost of collateral. After agreeing Kimimaro is drawn into the world of “The Financial District” and learns the true darkness behind the world.

FUNimation acquires Cat Planet Cuties and B Gata H Kei

FUNimation Entertainment announced plenty of licensing acquisitions today and the first two of these are called Cat Planet Cuties and B Gata H Kei – Yamada’s First Time. Those who follow anime may know Cat Planet Cuties as a different name, because in Japan it was called Asobi ni Iku yo, while Yamada’s First Time was simply called B Gata H Kei.

Cat Planet Cuties was directed by Youichi Ueda and is based off of a light novel series. It originates around a normal high school freshman named Kio who stumbles upon a cat-eared alien girl. He then must protect her from various threats and help acclimate her to Earth. Though it doesn’t help that this alien girl has fallen for Kio, complicating matters further.

B Gata H Kei – Yamada’s First Time was directed by Yusuke Yamamoto and is based off of a manga by the same name. The story follows Yamada, a sex-loving girl who constantly dreams about having a hundred different sexual experiences. There is just one problem though, she is still a virgin, and because of this she chooses one special boy to take it. A boy named Kosuda, but things won’t go smoothly for Yamada as her inexperience and crazy imagination cause her more than enough trouble.

FUNimation will be bringing both Cat Planet Cuties and B Gata H Kei – Yamada’s First Time to Blu-ray and DVD some time in 2012. Each series consists of twelve episodes and will be released in a single separate package.
