Frogger turns 30 with a new release for Apple products

I get a little nostalgic every time I see a new Frogger game added to the franchise, as in brings back fond memories of a simpler time, setting up our first ever family PC as a kid with Frogger being the only game we had on a brand new floppy disc. Fast forward twenty five odd years from then and the franchise is still going strong as Konami announce a new member of the Frogger family in collaboration with Revolutionary studios, specifically for Apple products, in the form of Frogger Decades.

Frogger Decades celebrates the 30th Birthday of the Frogger franchise with revamped vibrant graphics and animation, as well as our favourite frog in a little bit of a dilemma. Upon return home, Frogger finds a map seemingly guiding him to the location of his huge celebratory party. Unbeknownst to him, his arch enemy has done the old switcheroo with the maps , leading Frogger on a wild and potentially dangerous adventure.

Set across five well crafted and exceptionally challenging (even for the frogger savvy) environments, Revolutionary studios have successfully recaptured the fun addictive gameplay that the franchise is known for. Taking control of Frogger is no easy feat, as you will have to guide him through snapping enemies and bulldozers as he jumps, hops, swings and dodges his way to freedom. Throughout the game players will also become acquainted with many of Froggers close friends, all empowered with unique skills to help the little frog along his way.

Frogger Decades is now available in the Apple App. store for Ipad, Ipad 2, Iphone 4, Iphone GPS and Ipod touch 3rd generation or greater running at least IOS 3.1.2 as a minimum.

Check out www.konami.com/frogger for more information regarding the frogger franchise as well as the new release and the frogger franchise thirtieth birthday celebrations.

Infamous 2: Festival of Blood gets a small cutscene trailer

Infamous 2: Festival of Blood is about more than electricity. More like electricity and blood and apparently vampires. Sucker Punch and Sony released a bit of a teaser for the standalone PSN game, and by a bit of a teaser we mean an extremely small one. It appears that a shriveled and long dead vampire is fed Cole McGrath’s blood and is going to be resurrected by a cult of some sort.

All of this takes place in a cutscene that will likely be shown during the very beginning of the game. Currently there is no price set for Infamous 2: Festival of Blood, but it could be an interesting title, even though vampires and electricity probably don’t mix too well. Either way check out the teaser cutscene? below.

Dungeon Siege III Treasures of the Sun DLC announced

Earlier today Square Enix and Obsidian Entertainment announced that they will be releasing the first DLC package for Dungeon Siege III sometime in October. The DLC is named The Treasures of the Sun and will have players entering the Aranoi Desert, an entirely new area never before seen. Players will be on the search for a lost Legion hero and fight through new enemies and even discover a great treasure.

The DLC will add numerous hours of gameplay as well as raise the level cap on characters up to level 35, five levels higher than previously allowed. This means that there will be plenty of new abilities for your characters to learn and unleash them on the new enemies that can be found in the Aranoi Desert. The DLC will cost $9.99 or 800 MSP on the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 respectively when it is released.

Call of Duty XP 2011 Completely Sold Out

0

Scheduled to open its doors to a mass legion of fans soon, tickets to the Call of Duty expo extravaganza in Los Angeles have officially sold out. Whilst this may not come as a huge shock to many, it however is surprising that a massive event like this took so long to finally sell out. Bearing in mind that the event is set to take place over this weekend September 2nd and 3rd, up until a few hours ago tickets were widely available for purchase on Call of Duty XP’s website.

I don’t suppose a $150 price tag isn’t asking that much considering what the expo is offering. A $1 Million Call of Duty Tournament, real-life Call of Duty paintball, live performances from Kanye West and Dropkick Murphys and of cause the first chance to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 over two massive days.

Stay tuned for more information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as it comes straight from Call of Duty XP.

One Piece: Pirate Musou is Namco and Tecmo’s teaser site title

A little earlir today, Namco Bandai updated their teaser website where they are partnering with Tecmo Koei. They had placed in the words that the game they are planning to announce would be produced by Omega Force, the company behind the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam games. It seems however that it won’t be another Gundam title but instead one focused on Monkey D. Luffy.

A leak from Jump has revealed that the teaser website is for One Piece: Pirate Musou. The game will be similar to a Dynasty Warriors title in style and will contain the characters from the One Piece anime and manga series. The game will be shown off at Tokyo Game Show later this month and will be released to the PlayStation 3 when finished. Let’s just hope this game is localized for Western release shall we?

Square Enix responds to calls of Deus Ex: Human Revolution racism

There has been a little bit of controversy following the release of Eidos Montreal’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The controversy is due to a homeless black woman known by the name of “Letitia” and the way she speaks and sounds. As you can see in the video below Letitia can be seen as a stereotypical black person, with an odd voice and obvious lack of education due to her speech patterns.

Square Enix responded to calls of racism saying the following:

“Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a fictional story which reflects the diversity of the world’s future population by featuring characters of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. While these characters are meant to portray people living in the year 2027, it has never been our intention to represent any particular ethnic group in a negative light.”

I mentioned in my review that there was one character who could be seen as racist, but only by some. Letitia is a homeless person that is digging through the trash, and there are countless homeless in the world of Human Revolution. There are also a number of other black characters that are well spoken and intelligent. Would it have made better sense and helped with immersion if Letitia was wearing a fancy dress and spoke like a college professor? No it wouldn’t have.
