Saints Row: The Third event makes a Smooth Criminal out of gamers

Saints-Row-3-Event-Sydney-Nov-2011-065The Saints Row the Third event in Sydney was something that required some pretty smooth criminals. The event was mainly directed at making the event goers feel like they were part of the game, rather than showcasing the game itself. And with a game that is going against GTA and relies on its craziness, Saints Row brought that element to the event.

With a pole dance show being put on to ‘enhance’ the showing of the trailers (read: get all the press guys hot under the collar and draw attention away from what they had probably already seen), a slick venue, and some pretty awesome photo opportunities (with props!) THQ had it covered.

The event itself felt less like a game preview (barring some of the attendants) and more like a night out with an unlimited bar tab, and a VIP feel, along with some weirdly on-fire stunts (NB: These happened after the pole dance session, so most were not capable of processing what had happened).

There were game trials, of course, and these played well. As always, the ridiculously fantastical element of Saints Row is well at play. The customisation effect is also fantastic, if you can see some of the avatars we were playing with. The game was GTA-but-cooler. Like, all the things you wanted to do in GTA but couldn’t because a dildo-bat wasn’t available (that MasterAbbott never end up finding)

Overall, THQ provided an event that felt like Saints Row, ridiculous, fancy, overstated, and ridiculous once more. It was a true Man’s Night Out, except in a good way.

We Sing Rock! launch trailer and revised release date

1

After missing its October 28th release, Nordic Games has put a new date for the arrival of We Sing Rock!: November 11th.

I think you can agree, rescheduling for a cooler date of 11/11/11 is a very rock ‘n’ roll thing to do. You may also know this date as the release of Skyrim, but spare a thought for We Sing Rock! There’s always room in your schedule for a bit of rocking out, and We Sing Rock! has a tracklist compiling many different genres and decades of rock.

We Sing Rock! is a Wii exclusive karaoke game. Check out the launch trailer below:

Great Wii games now for a great value

If you already have Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, why not look at upcoming titles such as;

Bioware Teases New Franchise

A picture of an intense desert collision is all we get for now, as Bioware released the above screenshot to Game Informer earlier this week, labelling it only as “Bioware’s new franchise”.

The game will be revealed at this year’s Video Game Awards show, which airs on December 10th on Spike TV, MTV2, and Spike.com at 8 PM, United States Eastern Standard Time.

For now all we can do is speculate, and the buzz on the internet is that Bioware may be throwing their hat into the post-apocalyptic genre. However, my humble opinion is that this game is based in a desert location, as some sort of meld between the science fiction and western genres. Think Red Dead Redemption meets Mass Effect.

Bear in mind, I know no more than you do, so what do you think this screenshot tells us about the game? Should BioWare just have stuck to its current franchises?

Raccoon Rising sure to make a physics-based iOS splash

For those iOS gamers out there who can’t get enough of physics-based games, there is a new one which is bound to get some heads turning. Raccoon Rising has been announced for release on November 17 by Romper Games. Raccoon Rising will be a vertical platformer, physics-based games with a bite.

You play as a raccoon, platforming your way through robots bent on destroying your beautiful home forest-land. As a crafty raccoon you dodge the evil tree-crushing machines, stomp turtle cannons, and slice through robo-quids (who for some reason are also against your homely forest life), to liberate the animals of the woods.

In Raccoon Rising expect different touch controls than you have experienced before, excellent graphics, and over sixty challenging ‘gates’ in four worlds.

Make sure that come November 17 you have your copy of Raccoon Rising for the small price of 99c. Keep an eye out for the review on the site!
