Fire Emblem: Awakening comes to North America in 2013

A number of you may have guessed that Fire Emblem: Awakening would be released either late 2012 or sometime in 2013 back when it was quietly announced a few weeks ago at E3. Well if you guessed sometime in 2013 then you just won about a half a year or more of waiting because Nintendo revealed in their Nintendo Direct presentation that the game would indeed be coming out in 2013.

At the moment however, the name of the game was simply called Fire Emblem. Nintendo also confirmed that Fire Emblem: Awakening will contain the same type of paid DLC that is available in Japan.

Bravely Default Trailer from Nintendo Direct

During their Japanese Nintendo Direct conference, Nintendo showed off a new trailer for the hotly anticipated classic styled RPG from Square-Enix, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.

The new trailer for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy shows off a mixture of gameplay and cutscene footage and can be seen below. The game itself is set for release on the Nintendo 3DS later this year and harkens back the spirit of RPG’s of old with a classic style approach to a genre that has evolved into something vastly different from what it began as (see Final Fantasy 13 compared with Final Fantasy 1 for example). So it is good to see a game with some love for the classic style of role playing games.

The game features the girls of AKB48 as Mii’s and features some kind of Mii interaction. Little is known on what type of game this actually is, but one can presume it is some kind of singing or rhythm based game. It will be titled AKB48 + Mii.

Namco Bandai working with Nintendo on the next Smash Bros

Nintendo Direct’s press conference has had a number of decent announcements, including the 3DS XL, but the next biggest announcement will make Smash Bros. fans jump for joy because it was revealed by President Satoru Iwata that the next Super Smash Bros. game will be coming out on the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.

He also revealed that Namco Bandai and Bandai Namco Studios will be working on the game alongside them. Two specific individuals were named to be working on the game alongside Sakurai, producer Kobayashi and Tales’ series director Yoshito Higuchi.

Nintendo 3DS XL breaks your pocket with a 4.88 inch screen

The Japanese Nintendo Direct conference is going on now and look at what they announced, a 3DS who just happened to get a hold of one of one of Mario’s mushrooms because it has seen a major size upgrade. Currently the larger 3DS is called the Nintendo 3DS XL and has seen an upgraded 4.88 inch top screen and a 4.18 inch bottom screen as well as a 4GB SD card.

At the moment those who buy the game in Japan will receive the New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Onitore, which is the newest Brain Age title. Take a look at the image above to see just how large these screens are! When it is released in Japan on July 28th it will cost 18,900 yen and will come in white, black and red, and silver and black colors. We can assume a US version of these prices and release dates will be revealed once the English Nintendo Direct conference begins.

Dreamatrix presents Legends of Dawn

0

In the lands of Munich, Germany a new role-playing game is coming to fruition. Developed by Dreamatrix, Legends of Dawn provides non-linear gameplay for natural adventurers. Wielding sword and magic, players can develop and adjust playing styles at any moment.

The world of Narr can be quite unforgiving amongst several different civilizations and the races that inhabit them. Danians, Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Rizars create the dynamic atmosphere of Narr and provide an uneasiness between cultures. Beyond the normal races that are known to the fantasy realms, Danians surprised me with the most interesting characteristics. Their offspring may become male, female, or androgyne. Androgynes may conform to either sex but more importantly devote themselves to magic. Additionally, Danians have origins in water but cannot recall their historical emergence.

Dreamatrix plans for Legends of Dawn’s release in Q3 of this year. Find their official website (here), and check out the gameplay trailer below.

Now while the date today is June 21st for most of us, due to time differences this means the presentation will actually happen at 8:30PM Pacific Standard Time. Now we will be providing up to the minute coverage as the presentation goes on, but you can also check it out for yourself here.

Final Fantasy VII coming to PC with achievements according to leak

It seems that every time rumors about a re-release of Final Fantasy VII begin to die down, there has to be something else that appears to keep all those die-hard fans foaming at the mouth for a potential re-release of the game. This time around a google cache of the website finalfantasyviipc.com displays that the game will be released sometime in the future with achievements, cloud saves and something called a “character booster.”

This character booster will apparently allow players to more or less mod the game by increasing HP, MP, and money “with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure.” Anyways, Joystiq did a bit of digging and discovered that the domain name is owned by Square Enix, so take that as you will.
