Pitbull and LMFAO Tracks Announced for Zumba Fitness Rush

The Hip Hop style pack has been announced and released by Majesco today for its Kinect™ game Zumba Fitness Rush. The popular title, which has been running off the back of the “Zumba craze” that has been sweeping nations, allows you to exercise and have fun dancing to some of your favourite tracks. The DLC allows the player to increase the Zumba Fitness Rush song library from 42 to 45 songs, it also allows them to add these songs to their own customised workouts.

The three songs that makeup the Hip-Hop Style pack are:

  • “Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)” Pitbull featuring T. Pain
  • “Sexy and I Know It” LMFAO
  • “Rock it Out” a Zumba® original track

The songs are priced individually at 160MSP on the Xbox Live Marketplace; if you buy the actual Hip-Hop Style Pack then you get the three songs for the slightly discounted price of 440MSP.

Check out the official trailer below which showcases the new choreography.

Confirmed: The Existence of Microsoft’s “New Xbox”

0

It seems as if every week we hear “news” (or more accurately rumours) of the next-generation of consoles, and every single time they’re brushed off as just that – rumours based off wild speculation or alleged leaked documents.

However the ‘unthinkable‘ has happened.

Microsoft General Manager Brian Hall has mentioned the fabled words “new Xbox”. Speaking to The Verge on their podcast The Vergecast about Outlook and Windows 8, he let slip the words.

“We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about 16 years, we obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work,” he said. “We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office with the new Windows phone and the new Xbox.” – Brian Hall

Oh how the rumour mill will be running in overdrive now. No further details or mentions of the new Xbox were discussed. This is the first time a Microsoft employee has openly acknowledged the existence of the new console.

No official statements have been released by Microsoft regarding the new Xbox…yet.

F1 2012 features all new Champions Mode

Amidst all the hullabaloo after Codemasters Racing announced its spin-off Formula One game, F1 Race Stars, you would be forgiven for forgetting there will be no slowdown in the production of its main F1 series, as we’ll be treated to F1 2012 the same year in September.

F1 2012’s Champions Mode will challenge players to take on each of the six champions in turn, starting with Kimi Räikkönen, followed by Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and then Michael Schumacher. Each champion has his own race scenario where the player must beat that driver in order to unlock the next challenge.

The Kimi Räikkönen challenge sees the player join a race as Kimi’s teammate at Spa Francorchamps. The player has just pitted and is on new tyres while the rest of the pack is on worn rubber with three laps to go until the end of the race. In order to complete the scenario the player has to race through the pack and overtake Kimi before the end of the race.

DayZ Confirmed as Standalone Game

We all knew it was going to happen, but it’s finally been officially confirmed: DayZ, the stupidly-popular zombie mod for military sim ARMA 2, will be developed as a full, standalone game.

The game will be published by Bohemia Interactive, the studio behind ARMA 2, with the mod’s creator, Dean Hall, as the project lead.

In a blog post, Hall specified that the game “will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.” The mod will still be available for existing players, updated regularly, as progress is made on the full game project.

There aren’t many details as of yet, other than confirmation of the project’s existence. Considering that the DayZ mod led to ARMA 2, a game released in 2009, topping the sales charts during the recent Steam Summer sale, it’s not surprising news. Damn good news, but hardly surprising.

Keep an eye on dayzgame.com. There’s nothing there yet, but the site is reserved for the project, and will likely be updated with details in the next few weeks.

Trailer Released for New Spanish Comedy Film: Chinese Takeaway

In film festivals there are usually films that stand above the rest, ones that achieve popularity and so are flogged to the general public with a stamp of approval. Chinese Takeaway is such a film from this year’s Rome International Film Festival.

Chinese Takeaway is a film about Roberto, a loner who loves being one of those eternally cranky people and dislikes others. His life changes when he meets Jun, a Chinese man who has just arrived in Argentina and cannot speak a word of Spanish. This odd coupling explores the language barrier, and leads to many hilarious and absurd situations, as well as helping draw Roberto out of his loneliness.

If you’re a fan of comedy films and are looking for something a bit different from the usual Hollywood stuff that spits out the same storyline again and again then this is definitely a film that you should see.

Check out the trailer for Chinese Takeaway below and let us know what you think! Chinese Takeaway will be released on the 30th of August 2012.

New Poster Released for Bait 3D

Bait 3D is a new ridiculous horror film about a sea dwelling creature, which doesn’t at all sound like a familiar story line. Well, to be fair to Bait it is Australian and also is set in a super market where a tsunami has hit and flooded it while it was being held up by a robber. Bad luck, bro. So the storyline is somewhat more complex than previous sea-dwelling horror movies, and this time it is a great white shark and not a school of piranhas, that makes it different right?

A movie poster has been released featuring the tag line ‘The food chain just got flipped’. This is probably intended to be a witty pun on the fact that they are trapped in a super market chain store, and that people are usually seen at the top of the food chain. However, sharks are generally regarded as being above us on the food chain – especially in the case of being trapped in a slowly flooding enclosed space with one.

Featuring an ensemble cast including Xavier Samuel (Grandmothers, Sanctuary, A Few Best Men, The Twilight Saga; Eclipse), Julian McMahon (Fire with Fire, Nip/Tuck, Fantastic Four) Sharni Vinson (You’re Next, Blue Crush 2, Step Up 3D), Phoebe Tonkin (Secret Circle, Tomorrow When the War Began), Martin Sacks (The Cup, Underbelly), Alice Parkinson (The Cup, Sanctum), Dan Wyllie (The Hunter, Animal Kingdom) Alex Russell (Chronicle, Wasted on the Young), Lincoln Lewis (Underbelly, Tomorrow When the War Began) Cariba Heine (Blood Brothers, The Pacific) and high profile Singaporean stars Qi Yuwu (The Home Song Stories, Founding Of A Party) and Adrian Pang (Holiday, I Do I Do).

Check out the trailer for the film below. What do you guys think of Bait 3D, is it worth a watch or will it just be another one of those ‘funny because it’s so terrible’ movies?

Bait 3D will be released in cinemas on 20 September, 2012.

Blazing Star Review

Blazing Star
Developer: DotEmu/SNK Playmore
Publisher: SNK Playmore
Platform: iPhone
Release: 26/7/12
Price: $2.99 – Available Here

Overview

Straight out of the late 1990’s and onto your phone, the Neo Geo classic Blazing Star is back. Developed by SNK Playmore and retro-game enthusiasts Dot Emu, Blazing Star says bye to the old home console and control, and hello to touch screen control. The side-scrolling shooter was the sequel Pulstar, and features similar mechanics to the classic series R-Type. While it may have been a hit on the Neo Geo, how does it hold up on iOS? Do the pseudo-three-dimensional sprites and classic voice samples fit in today’s ‘casual’ App market?

Story

The story isn’t explicitly outlined. But then again, arcade titles very rarely do so. They rely on the games packaging, the arcade cabinet graphics, and other external means of telling the story. The downside of playing a classic title revamped for iPhone is that we lose these little things along the way. Nonetheless, there is still a story behind the game. An interplanetary war resulted in the development of a new type of weapon – Organic Weapon Production. The result was the development of a sentient weapon – Brawshella. Brawshella began to attack, and eventually assimilate humans, who then had no purpose other than to continue fighting. Eventually six assimilated fighter pilots regained consciousness and began to fight back again Brawshella.

Gameplay

Blazing Star features both multiplayer and single player game options. Multiplayer lets you play with friends who are in bluetooth range. This allows for co-operative gameplay of the levels in single player mode. Single player allows you to take on the challenge of the original arcade mode -starting from beginning until as far as you can get. Mission mode however, lets you pick any level you have completed in arcade mode.

The game has a simple interface, as most iOS games do. It’s a slide to move, push button to fire, type of thing. If that sounds too difficult, don’t worry. There is a short tutorial before playing the game that shows you how to control your ship. There are six ships/fighter pilots to choose from, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. There are also varying degrees of difficulty, from easy to very hard, depending on your skill level. Scrolling shooters tend to work well on the iOS, and I’d say Blazing Star is no exception. It’s easy to slide your finger around the screen to control your character with precise movements. At times it can be a little difficult, and the controls aren’t as responsive as you’d like. But overall it works well. For those who don’t like touch based controls, there is also the option of a thumb pad.

Visuals and Audio

The visuals are exactly the same as the original game. So, if you like the look of classic consoles, using semi-3D sprites. Then hell, you’re going to like the look of Blazing Star. I feel as if the return to retro-aesthetic can be a bit overwhelming. So many games try to recreate the look of classic videogames and often fall short. Dot Emu like sticking as close as possible to the original titles, and I think, working with SNK Playmore, they have done the original title justice.

I really enjoyed the audio, from the fantastic, hyperbolic science-fiction style music running through the game, to the sound effects. My favourite part is catching those bonus or power ups and hear the narration of “BONUS” or “POWER-UP”. It just makes the achievement of earning a bonus so much more enjoyable.

Overall

Blazing Star is an enjoyable side-scrolling shooter. The gameplay may be simple, but it’s all you need with a game like this. It’s nice to see original titles held in such high esteem by iOS developers and publishers that they honour the original game as they can – Blazing Star is truly an example of this. The game is great fun, doesn’t have any serious elements, and functions very well as a casual game – getting a fix whenever you can. Retro-game enthusiasts, Neo Geo fans, this is a game that must grace the screen of your iOS device.

Second Dev Diary Released for Aliens: Colonial Marines

The second video in the Aliens: Colonial Marines developer diaries has been released, this time introducing us to the Xenos in more depth and talking about the arsenal that the Marines are getting.

It’s really good to hear that the developers are clearly knowledgeable in the Aliens franchise, and drawing details such as the aliens and weaponry from the movies, but also expanding upon it and allowing those who are fans of the Aliens franchise to more fully explore the universe. And the gameplay snippets look pretty hectic, this is certainly a lot more to take on than just the one alien, it’s a whole freaking nest. Can you say epic?

The hint at a new way of approaching dialogue and the interactions between characters is also an intriguing little titbit, and I’d love to get a bit more information on what that means. Hopefully they’ll release some more of these developer diaries so we can get some more information on the game and what they’re bringing to the table.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is being released on PC, Playstation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360 and OnLive on February 12, 2013. For more information on Aliens: Colonial Marines as it comes out keep tuned to Capsule Computers.
