ESPN opens all channels for Xbox Live

0

ESPN has heard your voices and is now offering their full programming to Xbox Live. This means ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, Buzzer Beater and Goal Line are all now accessible from the ESPN app. What’s the big difference? Before the update, users had very little NFL coverage. Now with the expanded programming, you can now access Monday Night Football! And let’s not forget about MLB or NBA games. Here are some more features to expect when powering up your new ESPN app:

  • My Sports. ESPN on Xbox allows you to choose your favorite sports and teams and designate these channels as “My Sports,” so you can jump directly into the games and content you care most about. ESPN on Xbox will automatically provide you with a personalized daily feed of live events, news and highlights based on “My Sports,” catching you up on only the teams and sports you care most about.
  • Mini Guide. The mini-guide gives you a preview and quick access to all the sports content you care about right at the bottom of the screen. This fall it is all about football, and now the best fans don’t have to miss anything. Is another game tied up late in the fourth quarter? Instantly switch to that game. Halftime? Play the earlier highlights.
  • Split Screen. Because true sports fans want to watch more than one game at a time, ESPN on Xbox has a split screen, allowing you to watch two events at once. Watch live events on both screens or a live event on one while you catch up on news and highlights on the other. You can even control both screens independently, pausing and rewinding each separately so you never miss a second of the action.

  • Gesture Control and Voice Control with Kinect for Xbox 360. Focus on your team instead of looking for the remote. Navigate through the content guide, skip to the next highlight, or play, pause, and rewind that big play…all with the wave of your hand or the sound of your voice.
  • Reminders. Too many big games to keep track of in your head? Not to worry – ESPN on Xbox now lets you tag games and set reminders so you never miss a moment.
  • Interactive ESPN BottomLine. The ESPN BottomLine keeps you in the know with breaking news and score updates from around the world of sports. Xbox has added interactive functionality that raises the bar for fans everywhere, with live alerts and the capability to jump to different sports or skip to the next story.

So rush over to your Xbox and download the latest ESPN update to begin watching your favorite live sports/shows. *Xbox Live Gold subscription and an ESPN participating affiliate are both required in using this app.*

Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault Vita release delayed until January

Today Sony announced that Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault would not be hitting the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita at the same time and it seems that they have chosen to wait until only a week before the game’s release before announcing such a delay.

Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault’s PS3 version is still set to be released on November 27th for $20 but the PlayStation Vita version will now be released in January 2013 at some point. To reward fans for their patience, Sony is planning on releasing the above “mini-boss skin pack” as a free download on the PS3.

A.D. 2021 Tokyo teaser site launched by Sega

Today Sega opened up a strange new teaser website in Japan which can be found here. Currently little is known about what this game may be outside of the fact that the site is dubbed “A.D. 2021 Tokyo” and the fact that the artwork on the website shows what appears to be giant flowers growing in Tokyo while dragon-like creatures fly overhead.

As you can see on the teaser site, the game will be fully revealed in Weekly Famitsu which will be released on Thursday, but leaked on Tuesday as is standard with Famitsu issues. There have been some rumblings on Japanese websites that this game could be Seven Dragon 2020: 3rd Encount and given the look of the artwork, they are probably right.

Firmware 2.00 makes the Vita’s web browser usable alongside games

0

If you happened to update your PlayStation Vita today you may have noticed that the system’s web browser has been optimized to run faster. One thing you may not have noticed however is the fact that the web browser can now be used while you are in the middle of playing the game.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida revealed on Twitter today that the browser has become a “small app” which will be usable without quitting out of other programs making it easier to use and a great tool for those who may rely on walkthroughs to complete games. It is certainly great to see the browser on the Vita made more viable and with this update also adding in PlayStation Plus for the Vita, gamers will be very busy tomorrow once the first six free Vita games are made available for subscribers.

Hitman: Absolution’s Online Pass nixed

Online Passes have become something of an unfortunate reality in the gaming world as nearly every company has adopted them in some form, whether it be locking out multiplayer content or single-player quest-lines. In fact, Square Enix had previously planned on locking out players from Hitman: Absolution’s Contracts multiplayer mode if they didn’t have an online pass, but it turns out that the company has changed their mind.

IO Interactive revealed on their blog that they “actually planned to have this mode accessible via a code in the game’s box but we really want to make it available to anybody that plays the game — so we want to take a new approach.”

In fact, the company goes on to say that anyone who picks up the game in North America will automatically see the game mode available in the game’s main menu and those outside of North America will be able to download the Contracts Pass for free. This is certainly a great move by the company in the eyes of fans who have likely grown tired of the entire Online Pass system and will be able to avoid such issues and get back to assassinating people as Agent 47.

Uncharted: Fight for Fortune is the card game you never asked for

Or who knows, maybe you did ask for it? Well, either way, Sony has chosen that the next step for the Uncharted franchise is a card based game for the PlayStation Vita. Now don’t worry too heavily over this one, as it is not a full retail title. To be a bit more specific, Sony Bend revealed today that Uncharted: Fight for Fortune will be released as a digital download on December 4th for a price tag of only $4.99.

Fight for Fortune will feature card-based combat with various hero, villains, mercenaries and artifacts from the series taking the form of cards. If you are curious about how this could possibly work then you should check out the below trailer which will show off how some of the game is played. It is worth noting that anyone who has played Uncharted: Golden Abyss will be able to use any gold they have in that game to help them fight in the card game. So… with Sony pushing a card game out on the Vita, perhaps we should hold out some hope for Compile Heart’s Monster Monpiece?

Flame Red 3DS bundle to be sold during Black Friday

If you happened to pay attention to Nintendo’s Black Friday bundle last year then you will probably notice that the bundle this year is remarkably similar to the previous one. Not only does it come with the same Flame Red 3DS color but also the same game, Super Mario 3D Land.

It is worth noting though that while last year’s release included a physical copy of Super Mario 3D Land, this time around the game will actually be pre-installed on the system. It is also worth noting that the system’s bundle has seen a $30 drop in price and will now sell at a suggested price of $170 instead of $200.
